⬢ History: We would prefer this to come in the form of a link or a series of links, but will accept written histories if there is nothing available.

For series with multiple routes and/or choices that can be made that effect the outcome of the game, please outline what choices were made as well.

⬢ Personality: Describe your character as best as you can. If we feel there is anything pivotal to the character that was left out, we will ask for revisions, so please try and be as thorough as possible. Be sure that the personality described is adequately reflected in your samples!

⬢ Powers: Because there is no power nerfing in the library itself by default, please list all canon powers, and outline what forms those powers take/what they can do. Feel free to link to a wiki section here as well, if that would be easier. Please note that any powers not on the application will not be accessible without a canon update, so we have something to refer to.

We do reserve the right to limit game-breaking powers, but will also work with you to give your character a reduced form of these powers, should they come up, so they won't be lost entirely.

⬢ Inventory: Please outline everything that was on your character's person at the moment they were pulled into the game. This includes weapons, armor, and anything in their pockets and/or any bags they might have been carrying. Please also describe (or link an image of) their second outfit from home, and choose two of the following three library shirts that they will find in their complimentary duffel. [1 2 3]

Character Info
⬢ Name: Yoichi Isagi
⬢ Canon: Blue Lock
⬢ Canon Point: ch.41

⬢ History: wiki

⬢ Personality:

. Adaptable
Yoichi is very tractable, willing and able to change himself and his outlook on things to achieve his goals. Unlike most of the other soccer players in the Blue Lock facility, Yoichi has little attachment to his play-style, as he's had no distinct challenge to previous overcome in his past, nor does he want to win for any reason other than glory. He is malleable and takes all advice into consideration, working it into his new concept of himself and pushing further ahead. Every time he loses or screws up, he figures out why and then create a new pathway around that weakness or eliminates it completely by rearranging his previous perceptions. He's constantly rebuilding himself as a new person, consciously destroying his old ways of thinking to mold himself into the person he wants to be.

. Ambitious
No matter what, Yoichi's only end goal is to win and come out on top. Though always dedicated and focused, he's had to develop and nurture an individualistic mindset, away from the more collectivist culture he was raised with, for the sole purpose of placing himself in a position to better obtain glory and acclaim. He embraces anything that gets him ahead, on an obsessive quest to claw his way up from second-to-last, and that drive is what fuels his competitiveness. He's opportunistic, always searching for a new piece of information or a strategy to benefit his own advancement. Every failure is to be learned from and used as a stepping stone to keep moving on.

. Analytical
It's impossible for Yoichi to stop thinking and dissecting his circumstances and environment. He's constantly aware of his surroundings and how he fits into them, using this instinctual spatial perception to make quick decisions based on anticipatory outcomes. He studies his opponents, deriving information from every move and shift in play to formulate the likeliest pattern that will take shape. He's honed this further into encompassing several outcomes at once, and narrowing down the probability of each, so that in his mind, he's almost seeing a premonition of how things will progress. Yoichi is plotting and evaluating unceasingly, and describes his methods as looking into the future. He picks up on small details and inconsistencies and adjusts his projected outcome within moments. In the event some does slip by him, he recognizes his error right away and incorporates that into his calculations.

. Mendacious
Yoichi is polite and cordial, always supportive of people, and sort of a peacemaker; at least on the surface. He portrays an almost innocent naivety about teamwork and friendship in the midst of competition, but he's disingenuous. Sometimes he doesn't realize the extent of his insincerity himself, but the other players do, commenting on his tendency to act like they're all friends even though he just won a coveted position by using them. In moments where Yoichi has to make decisions, he's all for himself and will step on anyone to get ahead, and then act like he feels bad about it when, inside, he's reveling in his dominion over someone else. He's nice to others and strikes up conversations willingly, though it's with the sole purpose of getting something out of it, like observations from another point of view that he can use to empower himself or as information to expose others' weaknesses. He downplays his own successes when off the field and feigns a humble and more submissive demeanour.

. Sadistic
Yoichi takes pleasure in the defeat of his rivals, getting a high off his actions affecting someone negatively. It's a rush he initially felt to a lesser degree when he eliminated the first player in the first round of training, Kira, whom Yoichi only an hour before had great affection and respect for. At his defeat, Yoichi found he couldn't help but be happy about it. The more he becomes personally responsible for someone else's loss, the stronger he feels what he refers to as exaltation. When he scores the winning goal in a team elimination, he's instantly experiencing a euphoria of sorts, delighted that he crushed them and crushed their dreams. Looking down at a defeated rival's crying face, Yoichi asks himself if that intoxicating feeling is what winning is. He only has a brief reflection of how wrong those feelings are, before embracing them and taking a predatory stance that it's only natural to want domination over people and to see them weep in shame and despondency. He's power-hungry and hedonistic in his quest to outrank and subjugate everyone else enrolled in the program, and to lord above them as the ultimate victor.

. Selfish
Yoichi harbours a desire for attention, and seeks praise and acknowledgment from those he admires. When he gets it, he only wants more. He used to feel that his desire for power, success, and prestige wasn't something to display outwardly, seen as the antithesis of the team-centered focus in Japanese sports; and it was something he never voiced aloud. At the entry speech for the Blue Lock training problem, Yoichi was finally told, for the first time, that it was okay, even advantageous, to be self-centered and to want things for yourself; that those parts of himself were a boon and not a negative personality attribution. Yoichi completely subscribes to the indoctrination of Blue Lock's ego cultivation, the first to abandon his previous ways of doing things and embracing what he can become. Every new speech and suggestion that plays to personal reward and enrichment makes Yoichi more determined to excel for his own gain, and to disregard others in the process. Nothing matters but himself and his rise to glory. When it comes down to it, Yoichi will take what he wants in any way that he can, and screw everyone else.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Wei Ying (birth name), Wei Wuxian (courtesy name, name most would call him by as an adult)
⬢ Canon: The Untamed
⬢ Canon Point: End of series, just prior to his return to Gusu Lan.

⬢ History: The history on the wikia is related to the novel and other media formats rather than Untamed, so a brief write up follows:

Wei Ying (birth name) was orphaned at a young age, and later adopted by his father's close friend Jiang Fengmian, the leader of Yunmeng Jiang Sect. Wei Wuxian (courtesy name, in theory for show canon starts being used in teen years) was thus raised as an adopted son but also a martial sect disciple for the Jiangs. Between Jiang Yanli, his elder (martial) sister, and Jiang Cheng, his younger (martial) brother, Wei Wuxian was raised in the Jiang Sect and produced excellent results in both swordwork and with a bow, known not only for his martial skills but also for his frequent punishment at Madam Yu's (Jiang Fengmian's wife) behest.

A brief history of Wei Wuxian's life prior to his "death" deals with a young man who believes with enough skill and depending on your own abilities, near anything can be overcome. He learns, very painfully, this is not the case, from the time where acting to help friends has exposed his adoptive clan to an opening that an enemy clan exploits in order to massacre, to where his sacrifice of his cultivation ability to his martial-brother Jiang Cheng leaves him vulnerable and tossed into a land where no living person survives (Yiling Burial Grounds), to where surviving the impossible was a matter of him learning a new style of cultivation using ghosts and resentful energies instead of his absent golden core, to the participation in the Sunshot Campaign where his contributions lead the clans combined against the Wens to victory... and sets him up for a fall when political machinations ultimately work against him as a target for the source of the exact power that allowed the clans to win in an otherwise overwhelming situation. He throws himself into what he believes is the right path, even if not the political one, and doesn't really listen to the people who care for him when they ask him to slow down or find another way. It's how he ends up freeing and running with the remainder of the Wens, those people who weren't cultivators for the most part and who were all innocent of the main Wen Clan Branch's crimes, and how he ends up becoming known as the Yiling Patriarch, moving the Wen remnants to the Yiling Burial Grounds he'd survived prior to the Sunshot Campaign.

Wei Wuxian ends up "leaving" the Jiang Sect, by agreement with Jiang Cheng so that he's no longer pressured by the other righteous clans over accounting for Wei Wuxian's actions. He's thus ostracised for the next year, not allowed to be at his martial-sister's wedding, and only invited back at the time of his martial-nephew's one-month celebration after his birth... to be set up for killing said nephew's father, the heir to the Jin Clan. The Wens turn themselves in on the request of the Jin Clan, who states they'll let Wei Wuxian off if the Wens gave themselves up. To no surprise, the Jins kill most the remaining Wens, and lock Wen Ning away for Reasons (of wanting to learn to control his abilities, as he's partially puppet-fied, because the series couldn't allow true zombies, for censorship reasons). Wei Wuxian comes too late to do more than see the bodies or hear the clans talk about how the Wens are finally eradicated, and how he's next; he then engages in another fight he didn't start, has the control of spirits he'd been holding taken away by someone playing disruptive control music in the background, and has his martial-sister murdered protecting him from being stabbed through the back. He proceeds to have a full breakdown, laughs and sobs his way to absorbing all the resentful energy darkening the skies over Nightless City, and then breaking the forged Stygian Tiger Amulet he'd made and been using... and then deciding to die by falling off a cliff.

Lan Wangji tries to save him. Jiang Cheng angrily stabs at rock trying to process the loss of his sister, Jiang Yanli, and Wei Wuxian then pulls his arm away from Lan Wangji and... "dies".

But his body is never found, and sixteen years later, he's summoned from wherever his body had been held in suspended animation by unknown forces to appear instead where Mo Xuanyu has exchanged physical places with him, another young man and bastard of the Jin Clan from the prior generation's liberal sowing of wild oats.

After his resurrection, Wei Wuxian's pulled back into the world he'd left and re-meets Lan Wangji, who proceeds to shepherd him around without explanation to anything that's happened in the last sixteen years as they solve the mysteries of his "resurrection," the sword spirit touched by Stygian Tiger/Yin Iron energy that appeared in the manor where he "resurrected" after being Body Switch Summoned by Mo Xuanyu (and also cursed by Mo Xuanyu to destroy all those who'd tormented Mo Xuanyu), and thus unravelling the political shadows for at least one of the major players in the cultivation world. This ultimately culminates in the revealing of Jin Guangyao (Meng Yao)'s ruthless misdeeds over the course of the last eighteen plus years, and his role in the deaths of various sect leaders, and in Wei Wuxian's framing for deaths not his responsibility or not of his instigation. By series end, Wei Wuxian knows his once friend, Nie Huaisang, was responsible for his "resurrection" and the events that revealed Jin Guangyao's actions, centring around the murder of Nie Huaisang's elder half brother, Nie Mingjue.

Wei Wuxian is left on his own and sets out to wander the world, parting ways with his rediscovered adopted son (Wen Yuan, now Lan Sizhui/Lan Yuan) who is working with Wen Ning to build a cenotaph to their deceased clan, and his soulmate Lan Wangji/Lan Zhan who, being the new chief cultivator of the clans, needs to handle those responsibilities for the sake of the oath they'd made way back when they were in Gusu Lan's finishing school together.

After some unknown amount of time traveling, Wei Wuxian returns to Gusu Lan, playing the as far as he knows unnamed song that Lan Wangji wrote, to be greeted by Lan Wangji calling out his name. His canon point may as well be from on the road back to Gusu Lan.

More in depth by reading the episode summaries on Wikipedia, as the wiki for Mo Dao Zu Shi focusses on other media sources.

⬢ Personality:

Self-Sacrificing. Often part of what his heroics are involved over, Wei Wuxian even now is a man who sacrifices himself for the sake of those he cares about, and has only just started learning he can ask for help and not tackle every issue on his own. The reflecting over what the cost of his self-sacrificing actions have been over the years is in progress by series end, but by no means finished. He still has low self-value, and believing he's worth caring for is difficult, but not impossible. He cares for people even when they've hurt him and even when he's hurt them, and has been learning how to offer apologies and say thank you for the things given to him in the past or present. He doesn't enjoy watching innocents suffer, and this does tend to learn toward women, children, and normal folks who aren't cultivators. He will intercede when he sees a need, just less thoughtlessly than he once did.

Forward Looking. Wei Wuxian wants to look forward and move forward instead of linger over the past. He's still processing the past, but it's a matter of understanding it and coming to terms with it, then letting it go. While he by no means has the truly terrible recollection that his novel counterpart has, he does have a tendency to want to forget what he considers unimportant to focus on what's worth remembering: the good, the kindness, the love. It's where his younger reputation for being always smiling and shaking off all bad things comes from, and while he's less blithe about it now, he still wants to keep moving forward, and not hold grudges for the past. Seen also with how he tells Lan Zhan, why ask Nie Huaisang about the things he knows/suspects his friend did in order to set up the scene Wei Wuxian walked into, sixteen years late with Cultivationbucks? They don't matter anymore. It's also where his mentality to move forward finding himself in a world that outpaced him, even alone, can be a hopeful move, and one that ultimately brings him back to Gusu Lan and Lan Zhan.

Curious, inventive, intelligent. His sense of curiosity gets him in and out of trouble, because he is perhaps too intelligent (but not wise enough) for his own good. Wei Wuxian shows off less after his "resurrection," but still possesses a keen wit and quick mind, breaking down situations and connections between events to dig at the truth behind them. He's an inventor, making up new seals, new talismans, energy-sensitive compasses (evil! tracking! it's great), and a whole way of cultivation that relied on redirecting resentful and malign energies instead of relying on spiritual qi from a golden core. This allowed him to manipulate these energies in the living (... because again, zombies weren't allowed, so they're all "puppets" who were maybe alive maybe dead it really is a Question, isn't it) and in the incorporeal dead (he's allowed to manipulate ghosts, at least). He was continuously inventing new magic uses and tricks from his teen years up to the point of his "death", and presumably returns to these things now that he's "alive" again.

Emotionally thick. He can have a better grasp on other people's emotions for others, as a general thing, but his sensitivity with regards to himself and others is very low. Part of it is self worth issues and doubt of if he deserves people caring for him again when he managed to hurt everyone he cared about (including getting them killed) sixteen years ago, as a consequence of his actions. That it wasn't wholly his fault or causing doesn't undo the impact those losses had on him, or in (the frankly needed) shaking of his belief and his arrogance over his ability to control and handle resentful energies as he thought he could.

Resigned is more a trait he's working on overcoming, because coming back from "dying" left him resigned to how people perceived him as the Yiling Patriarch, and that he was going to be blamed for all bad things regardless of his ever being involved. By series end he's less resigned and more hopeful again, allowing him to look forward as he prefers to do, and most of that is the support of Lan Wangji and then the younger generation that chose to believe in him from what they knew, and not from what others had said about him. He cannot make up for what happened in the past, but he can do better now, and not repeat mistakes, and that resignation he felt for how things had happened before can now start changing into hope.

Sad but becoming hopeful. He's getting better about this but this man is constantly tearing up, he feels a lot of emotions and has been coping with coming to terms with the truth of events that destroyed him and those he loved 16 years ago, as well as the difficulties he's been working through in present. Sad as a note here is not that his personality is A Big Sad Person, but that he's got a lot of underlying sadness he's still working on based on everything that's happened in his life. He's working through it, has learned to forgive himself for some things, and truly set others in the past, but it comes up for various reasons, and is part of his drinking habits...

Alcohol as a coping mechanism? Yeah. That's Wei Wuxian. He drinks to soothe his thoughts and try to cope with reality, and is not as bad right now as he was in the past, but it's still something he both enjoys, and enjoys socially, and also can turn into a crutch when he just doesn't want to keep thinking about a subject.

Miscellaneous but Important: There's a big gap between the kind of social he was when younger and the kind of social he is now! He talks with people easily enough, cuts in verbally to conversations, defends people with words, and can be sassy when he wants, but he's not the social leaning butterfly he once was. He's still mouthy, particularly when he wants to get something over with, and still can drive people to annoyance when he aims to, but it's much more deliberate and less frequent as a whole. He's dry, sarcastic, and matter of fact... and then depending on what kind of mood he's in, and how much he's trying to deflect a person, dramatic and playacting toward pouting or laughter or playful accusation to keep a conversation turned away from a topic he doesn't want to speak on. He's more capable of talking about things that were hard for him in the past now than he was before, but he's overall still learning how to do that naturally. He's also less gregarious in crowds, but can fall back into those habits when necessary for actions or a role he's temporarily taking on.

Noting that unlike in other media sources, Untamed Wei Wuxian does not appear to have explicit memory issues. He's got PTSD, he has things he prefers not to remember, but he never personally claims to forget things which don't make sense to forget; instead he deflects by saying, "Don't others say I have a bad memory? Let it be that." Him not recalling where he heard the song Lan Wangji authored and hummed to him in the fake xuanwu's cave has everything to do with him being feverish and passing out at the time, rather than a chronically bad memory. Jiang Yanli summed up his tendency to smile and "forget" the bad to look forward and focus on the good, making it all come down to someone who is more inclined to let go of things than hold grudges, and try to forget what's not worth remembering. Much like what a younger him said to a drunk Lan Wangji: let us forget what's not worth remembering, and remember everything that shouldn't be forgotten. This means he also forgets people he doesn't find worth remembering because why waste brain space on them; coming back around to him not holding grudges without a very good and personal reason, and even then, not being one to fester over them and instead respond and take action. Goodbye, Wen Chao and sidepiece, you died horribly, Wei Wuxian does not apologise.

Wei Wuxian | The Untamed | Not Reserved

[personal profile] weifinder 2020-11-30 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
⬢ Powers:

Bear with me here, Untamed is legitimately the worst about this/contradicts itself/forgets aspects/reinvents them, as you do.

Cultivation: The basics behind here seem to involve manipulation of spiritual qi (energy), advanced qigong (explained further below), the ability to use spiritual blades, the ability to freely work magics and talismans, and the ability to heal faster than normal humans. Possessing a golden core allows for higher levels of cultivation to be achieved, but does not define one as a cultivator. Which is good, because Wei Wuxian no longer has a golden core. He cannot use his spiritual sword for long periods of time as a consequence, as it drains his small reserves too fast. Thus he cannot sword fly, but he can for periods of time make his sword fly around under his mental control. He also cannot withstand a golden core cultivator's full strength taken directly on.

Sword arts: Wei Wuxian is an excellent swordsman who no longer fights with a sword for long periods of time as he cannot bear up on the demands of using an unsheathed spiritual blade. Given a normal blade, he can be an effective fighter until his natural stamina runs out.

Archery: Wei Wuxian is a notably accomplished archer, and once showed off shooting five arrows at once, blindfolded, over the heads of prisoners of war being used as live target blocks, to hit dead centre in every target set up behind said prisoners of war.

Qigong: This is increased speed and agility and strength, such as the ability to leap great distances (it looks like floating and flying in Untamed), and in other words being capable of greater physical feats than seem sensible or possible for a normal human. He can jump on top of buildings, off buildings, jump between dramatic cliffs, spin really fast and pretty, leap through the air, float... through the air... I have no explanation for how they can pause or spin dramatically around each other in air but they definitely do this.

Necromancy: Based on series limitations, this focusses on using resentful energy from ghosts/demons and directing it to attack, defend, or to possess. He can soothe or inflame these spirits, and can seal them as well as stop them with seals drawn before him for some period of time.

In greater detail, Wei Wuxian is, technically, a necromancer. Who has dealt with possessed living people. Or been able to manipulate... possessed... barely alive people. Ghosts and spirits were freer game, but the theory of him manipulating zombies should be sound, given he's a necromancer, but he wouldn't assume he could because canon didn't allow him to do so. Wen Ning, who in other media sources was fully killed them resurrected as a Fierce Corpse/Zombie, was "mostly dead" in series, barely alive enough and inundated with resentful energies that Wei Wuxian was eventually able to call his consciousness back through. What we see him outright manipulating are ghosts/masses of resentful energy and other negatively charged energy he can then instruct to act in certain ways, as controlled by his music, or he can instruct to possess living persons and then attack.

He generally avoids this latter situation, particularly after his "resurrection." Notable in this sense is he does use these energies/ghosts to fight on his behalf, making up for what he lacks as a golden core, but also that he's primarily settling and sealing these energies, or getting them to pull back from full frenzy. He can go the other direction, and stir ghosts/resentful energies/people inflicted with resentful energies into a frenzy, but it is not generally to his benefit, and he's cautious these days. Guiding resentful energies to go their natural course and then give up their resentment on their own was once his theory of thought.

Talismans: Wei Wuxian has a tendency to invent and use a lot of talismans, including, but not limited to... weighted talismans that pin a target down, talismans that cause a person to go still, command talismans to make people more suggestible, sealing talismans to keep an energy or creature sealed in place (or person), talismans for fire, talismans for locating, talismans for clearing fog and dispelling illusions, talismans for attracting evil spirits, talismans for repelling evil spirits, talismans that turn into fire butterflies and sparkle attack a target, talismans to dampen sound, talismans to generate light, talismans to break through barriers, talismans to establish barriers... there's not a lot of limitation in at least some kind of talismans being invented to try and handle a situation. He's particularly known for just making new ones, and having them succeed. Talismans can be drawn on anything, though traditionally are easiest on slips of paper. Wei Wuxian uses paper, his own hands, the ground (with his blood as the ink), his own clothing, and notes that he could do the same with flags or other fabric. He can also make paper people talismans that he controls from a distance, to various degrees. See more on this below in Magic in General.

Music: Untamed has a lot of magic based on music, and Wei Wuxian manages to both perform this by flute and through the act of whistling. Basically, the melodies he produces are capable of agitating or soothing spirits/resentful energies/puppets (think possessed living persons or persons still alive rendered into a zombie-like state), manipulating them with that sound to some purpose. That purpose may be to seal or settle those energies, or to direct those energies to attack, or anything else that occurs to him. Again noting he can simply whistle to do this, though he prefers the use of a bamboo flute. He can also play on a blade of grass. He can also send energy/ghosts/demons/etc on, settle them, or destroy them through music. His work is primarily aimed at the dead, in some form or another, or those possessed by the dead or the energies of the dead (human or animal).

Magic in General: There's a lot more magic in Untamed, usually not explained. He can place his consciousness into a paper doll that he manipulates remotely, but he can also place just a fraction of his consciousness into a paper doll in order to communicate (telepathically or verbally) or otherwise look around or interact with the world around him... as a paper doll. He invented a compass that points toward evil creatures/demons/ghosts/the kinds of things the cultivators went after on night hunts. We see less of his golden qi nets in the present, and probably he can't make something that large with his energy most the time, but he could make giant nets of qi either across an area or around a group of people to act as protection. He can use his binding/bonding invented technique, which generates a single string of qi that can be directed to attach to a target of his choice. There are also spells like Empathy, which allow him to enter the consciousness or memory of a ghost, or a living person... but mostly ghost, witnessing the things they saw and lived through. Empathy can be mad-making, however, if he can't be pulled back out, and it's more dangerous with another living mind than with the already deceased (presumably, since he had more trouble coming back out with the living A-Jing/A-Qing than he did with the dead Nie Mingjue).

Energy Sensitivity: He's sensitive to different energies in the world, particularly resentful/evil ones and spiritual ones, as he's worked with those extensively. It doesn't mean being able to identify what any energy he comes across means, but areas which have seen death, particularly unrestful death, will resonate and headache. He can manipulate these energies in many cases, but not all.

Curses are a thing he does not do but something he recognises in series, as curses have a kickback that falls on the one who laid the curse. On the flipside, purifying areas or gathering lingering negative energies into specific targets to slowly cleanse an area and allow healthy things to grow is part of what he can do, or else the entirety of trying to farm in the Yiling Burial Mounds would have led to starvation instead of its thin success.

⬢ Inventory:

Wearing: Black wave pattern robes, red hair ribbon, waistband, leather belt, at least one layer of under robes, possibly two (more usual for him), boots, may or may not actually have pants.

Second Outfit: Front and back of yet another all black robe set.

Library Shirts: 1 & 3

Carrying: Chenqing, his bamboo dizi flute, with attached jade lotus ornament + tassel.

Additional: Likely a money pouch of some kind on his person. Unlikely to have anything more than silver at the highest on him, in small pieces within said pouch. He may also have a pouch of peanuts. If mods want to be tongue in cheek, he could have had some lovingly rendered porn book too, does the library want to matriculate it. It could even be disguised within some other book—have fun. The guy's been wandering around for xxx long, he's got to have had some entertainment traveling along with him.

Confiscated: Suibian, his sword. If following canon logic, the sword would be sealed until Wei Wuxian (or Jiang Cheng) attempt to draw the blade, even if they could get to it behind the glass. For the laughs, would he be able to make it fly around... inside the glass case. Where it's trapped, unable to be free!!!

• Despite hyenas being a key part in the King of Beast's plan, they're still generally looked down on in society.
• Ruggie grew up extremely poor. When showing a classmate a picture of his childhood home, it was described as a "doghouse."
• It's implied that food was short. He did learn to cook from his grandmother but his least favorite food is simply listed as "rotten food."
• At some point he meets Leona Kingscholar, the second son of the royal family.

• Ruggie entered Night Raven College and was sorted into the Savanaclaw Dorm, where Leona had already been held back a few years.
• He serves as Leona's (de facto) vice-dorm leader, managing Savanaclaw students and trying to get Leona to go to class.

• In his second year, he and Leona concoct a plan to deal with Diasomnia, the dorm that consistently beats them in the yearly Maglift tournament, and all other sources of competition.
• Ruggie uses his unique magic to cause various competitors to injure themselves in ways that look like accidents. Mysterious Transfer Student Protagonist is called in to try and get to the bottom of it.
• The entire plan's crowning event is Ruggie, with his magic enhanced by a potion, taking control of an entire crowd and causing them to storm and trample the Diasomnia team.
• However, he and Leona's plan was figured out and the Diasomnia team had been replaced with body doubles.
• Leona surrenders, not even wanting to play out the match, and Ruggie confronts him, feeling betrayed.
• The heightened emotions of the situation cause Leona to Overblot, a condition where the user's magic goes out of control and they act on their bases fears and instincts. Leona nearly uses his own magic, to turn things to sand, on Ruggie's arm. The dialogue implies it was working, with cracks forming in his skin.
• After defeating Leona and restoring him to his normal state, Ruggie says he doesn't forgive Leona but he'll still follow him. After all, Leona is who he idolizes.
• They lose the tournament but have renewed passion. Keep in mind, renewed passion doesn't mean they plan to get all their wins legitimately. They did not learn that lesson.

• After the events of the Savanaclaw Chapter, Ruggie and the rest of Savanaclaw assist the main character in their conflict with Octavinelle.
• In an attempt to help students that signed an impossible contract with the dorm leader of Octavinelle, the protagonist wagers their dorm... and is kicked out of it until the bet is completed.
• Ruggie convinces Leona to let the protagonist stay in Savanaclaw Dorm temporarily and makes them do chores as collateral.
• He's also integral in a plan that nullifies the contracts. After causing a huge distraction, Ruggie pickpockets the key to the safe where the contracts are being held. He and Leona destroy them.
• This leads to another case of Overblot, despite Ruggie's attempts to smooth things over, so the main three of Savanaclaw officially join forces with the protagonist to stop the rampaging Octavinelle leader.

⬢ Personality:
Being based off of hyenas, Ruggie embodies some truth and some fiction to the animals. There is a reputation of them being cowardly scavengers with mocking laughter, which matches how Ruggie appears to others. However, they are actually adept hunters with a solid pack structure. Similarly, Ruggie has many characteristics that people could define him by... and then a deeper code for people who get closer.

Ruggie is certainly opportunistic. When he looks at the people around him, a he's certainly sizing them up. He quickly figures out which of his classmates can be manipulated into favors, who to avoid, and how careful he has to be. He is capable of confronting people head-on but that's often a risky plan and he'd rather go for sneak attacks or running until the situation is favorable. He's quick thinking with people skills and street smarts.

His book smarts, though, are more lacking. He thinks quickly on his feet and assesses situations very quickly but when it comes to traditional academics, he struggles with dedicating himself. He tends to lean on the side of "when will I need this?" and if he can't find an answer it isn't worth it to him. His area of expertise is animal communication and he's also shown to enjoy alchemy. Magic History, though, he nearly failed to the point of a teacher re-considering him for the school.

So, what are Ruggie's objectives and what does he decide is worth his time and effort? Ruggie's hometown is extremely poor. He grew up with very little and that definitely influenced what he finds important. With his least favorite food being described as "rotten food," Ruggie is a glutton with a love of food. He's even used his Unique Magic on another student to swipe their cutlet sandwich. He's also shown to have a preoccupation with money. Canon hasn't revealed what he does with all the money he earns from numerous part-time jobs but it's implied to either go back to his family or get spent on snacks.

Despite being clever and crafty, Ruggie is also an extremely hard worker. One of the qualities exemplified by Savanaclaw students is the "stubbornness" of the King of Beasts. Rather than having things gifted to them, they reach out and take them with their own hands. So, while Ruggie is capable of stealing, he usually goes with the less troublesome task of odd jobs. (Keep in mind, I say that stealing is only more "troublesome." Ruggie has no moral qualms against lying, cheating, or stealing. These are all valid ways to take what he wants.) Characters are often impressed by his ability to manage a room, skill at haggling, and the sheer amount he gets done. He's a full-time student, a member of the Maglift sport club, completes numerous jobs, and serves the Savanaclaw Dorm Leader.

While Ruggie is entirely capable of functioning without his dorm leader, this section would be lacking if I don't mention Leona Kingscholar. Leona is a member of the Afterglow Savannah royal family and has known Ruggie for some time. It's implied that it's partly Leona's connections that let an unknown, poor hyena into the prestigious Night Raven College. Ruggie, despite having no obligation to, serves at Leona's aide, right-hand-man, housekeeper, underling, whatever title suits them best at the moment. He wakes Leona up in the mornings, handles his laundry, nags him to go to class, and even sews buttons back onto his clothes without asking.

Some people take Ruggie's service as a sign that he's obedient or below Leona. This is, again, just a misconception people hold. Ruggie openly admits that he serves Leona because Leona is the best person to help him fulfill his goals. He'll bluntly state that Leona is lazy, complain about him being a pain, or steal from his wallet (because he just leaves it out on the table!). Still, Leona is wealthy, with powerful magic, and a sharp mind that can bring their ambitions to life. Even when Leona Overblots, showing all his emotional weaknesses and saying their ambitions will never happen- Ruggie still maintains that feeling. He doesn't forgive Leona but the haughty royal who can't become king is still someone he respects and sees potential in. He doesn't want to see him look so helpless again.

Ruggie doesn't want to be king, nor does he really want Leona to be king for the sake of his goals. He wants to prove the people wrong who think of him as just a mangy, poor hyena. He wants to have enough food and money to never have to worry about starving. And, when he has extra, he wants to bring that back to his hometown so that the kids who are growing up like he did have all the same opportunities to claw their way up in the world.

As Grimm, the game's mascot character notes, "That Ruggie's a surprisingly good guy, isn't he?"

⬢ Powers:
Offensive Magic. Offensive magic in Twisted Wonderland comes in four categories: Fire, Water, Tree, and "Null." They follow the usual triangle of effectiveness with null being neutral to all others. Ruggie's null magic manifests as darkness. Basically, offensive magic goes like "pew pew fire ball."
Utility Magic. Aside from offensive, element-based magic, there's also plain old utility magic used to enchant objects or brew potions. Ruggie's best subject is "animal communication" where he can use his magic to fluently speak to and understand animals. He also, like all students at Night Raven College, can use a broom to fly.
Unique Magic. Everyone that can use magic in the world of Twisted Wonderland also has a Unique Magic that is only theirs. Because of the power of this magic, students are rarely open about what their Unique Magic is. Ruggie's is called "Laugh with Me" and, after using it, he can briefly cause someone to copy his actions. This is usually limited to one person and he has to do exactly what he wants the victim to do. In the Savanaclaw Chapter, for example, he injures a rival by falling backwards. Ruggie is caught by his fellow dorm members on flat ground while the rival goes through the same motions- but on the stairs, with no one to catch him. Victims usually have a sense of "zoning out" which particularly attentive people can tell they were being controlled by something.

All of Ruggie's magic requires his wand to do, with the exception of his Unique Magic. OOC communication will be key in any attempts to use Ruggie's unique magic.

⬢ Inventory:

Wallet with 300 Madol in it (currency, now useless) and a few stamp cards and coupons

⬢ Name: Xie Lian
⬢ Canon: Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu)
⬢ Canon Point: post-novel

⬢ History: WIKI overview & history

⬢ Personality:
COMPASSIONATE, SOFT-HEARTED • perhaps most notable of Xie Lian is his big heart. even in his youth, when he had been full of much more self-righteousness and self-importance, he had always wanted to "save the common people." born a crown prince if a flourishing kingdom, and yet his ultimate goal in life had always been to serve. even now, so many centuries later, he has only grown more compassionate and kind. indeed, now after having suffered for many years and lived as the poorest and most unfortunate have, he's only more empathetic to others' plights. quick to give the benefit of the doubt and lend a helping hand, even if it may put him at a disadvantage, his heart has only grown softer and more understanding. these days, it takes a lot to get Xie Lian to feel true anger or hatred, and sometimes even those that have done him great wrongs will sometimes get a "let bygones be bygones" response. while Xie Lian may not be quite as saintly as to easily forgive, he definitely errs more on the side of forgetting; many times he will speak on how he's so old and so much else has happened that it seems silly to continue to be caught up in it.
STRONG-WILLED, STUBBORN • in his youth (and naivete), Xie Lian had been much more self-assured of his convictions, to the point of even willing to criticize or condemn Heaven itself should it disagree with his views. nowadays he is not as loud about his beliefs, but he still maintains a great confidence in his moral compass, deferring to it rather than what he is told. while he is much more willing to consider others' wisdom and knowledge, at the end of the day he listens to his own heart and intuition... even if it gets him into trouble more often than not.
HUMBLE, SELF-DEPRECATING, GUILT-RIDDEN • Xie Lian has been put through a considerable amount of psychological torture that has all mostly culminated in a pretty bad case of survivor's guilt. these days, he does his best to put it all behind him and simply live on as best as he can, but these experiences coupled with his many years of living poor and downtrodden in the mortal realm has humbled him significantly. now it is very rare for him to feel shame or embarrassed, because he has already sunk to so many lows just to get by. without getting too caught up in the actual despair he'd felt during his lowest of times, oftentimes his past misfortunes would simply be brought up for self-deprecating humor. it's very hard for anyone's demeaning words or low opinions of him to get to Xie Lian, because in all honestly he has already heard them all before — and indeed thought many of them himself.
PERCEPTIVE, INTUITIVE • throughout the course of the novel there are many mysterious that Xie Lian has been at the forefront of solving, displaying his keen intellect and perception. one case in particular even took only a single off-handed statement from the perpetrator for Xie Lian to accurately come to a conclusion. (it should be noted, however, that even Xie Lian's keen perception has its limits, and can sometimes be ignored in favor of his faith and trust in a person)
RECKLESS, SELF-SACRIFICING • while Xie Lian's recklessness can be attributed in some part to the fact that he's immortal (and has been immortal for centuries), it should be noted that even before his ascension(s) he's always had a pretty low sense of self-preservation. he is of course very confident in his skills and his cultivation, but it's mostly because of his strong desire to protect and do good that he's willing to put himself in harm's way if it'll get the job done. more often than not, that tends to be his default solution to problems; instead of maybe spending a bit more time to find another way, Xie Lian will opt for the path that will end up hurting himself if he knows it will work. he's often quick to reassure others that he doesn't really feel pain anymore, or that he can't really die, but while it's meant to be comforting it does often come across as dismissal or even callousness in regards to the situation and others' concerns for him. in Xie Lian's eyes, by allowing himself to get hurt, he's the only one who would need to suffer, but he is often so focused on solving the problem that he doesn't realize his actions can still cause others emotional pain.

⬢ Powers:
IMMORTALITY • as a God, Xie Lian cannot die by conventional means. Gods live and die through the beliefs of others, so the only way they can die is if there are no longer any followers to pray to or believe in them.
DURABILITY, REGENERATION • Gods possess high durability that make them able to withstand many injuries that would otherwise be fatal to a human. Gods are also able to regenerate or heal from these wounds quite fast; usually the greater one's spiritual power, the faster, and Martial Gods in general are known to heal quite fast due to all the instances they've been injured in battle. Xie Lian in particular is incredibly tenacious, after having sustained many fatal injuries in his past.
INHUMAN PHYSICAL STRENGTH • Gods are also notably quite strong, where a single blow from them has been said to be strong enough to be fatal to a human. this strength also lets him jump higher and farther than a human ever could. especially as a Martial God, Xie Lian's spiritual power and prowess make him considerably powerful.
HIGH PAIN TOLERANCE • despite being immortal, Gods can still feel pain. Martial Gods in particular fight and get injured often enough that some pain can be dismissed. but because Xie Lian has suffered through so many fatal injuries (once even fatally stabbed over a hundred times in one night, for example) that he's said multiple times he can barely even feel pain anymore.
HIGH DANGER SENSES • due to many years of training and life as a Martial God, Xie Lian's senses are exceptional to the point he can (unless distracted or disoriented) easily predict oncoming danger and avoid it. he can also sense killing intent.
HIGH SPIRITUAL POWER • Xie Lian has always had incredibly exceptional spiritual power and potential for it. post-canon, as he is without his cursed shackles, his spiritual powers have returned and he is canonically the strongest and most powerful of all the Martial Gods. spiritual power itself can come in many forms, and it's not entirely clear in canon but some examples of Xie Lian's use of it is: controlling a giant divine statue of himself, creating sharp gusts of wind by slashing at the air either with his hands or any other sort of weaponry, detect evil presences and auras, create protection charms that can grant its user mild form of protection and the ability to send prayers directly to him, creating and enchanting talismans that have various effects, transferring souls from one body to another (so long as the other party is willing), perform passing rites for ghosts and the souls of the dead, create Distance-Shortening Arrays that essentially work like portals...
SPIRITUAL COMMUNICATION • using spiritual powers, Xie Lian can contact other Gods or ghosts with enough spiritual power to reciprocate. in canon it's called a communication array, and there are public ones (like the one set up for all Heavenly Officials in the Heavenly Capital) or private ones (that you can access directly if you know the other person's private password).
EXPERT SWORDSMANSHIP • Xie Lian has trained with swords and weaponry for a good portion of his human life, and displays skills so exceptional that he can fight well regardless if he's used to the weapon. he is not only a good fighter, but he is also extremely intelligent when it comes to fighting styles and the like, able to accurately determine what kind of weapon would be best for certain fighters.
EXPERT MARTIAL SKILL • he'd already been skilled at unarmed fighting because of his training and status as a Martial God, but after several fall from graces, Xie Lian has grown even more skilled due to all the times he's had to get himself out of fights without any weapon.
BAD LUCK • it's not really a power, but Xie Lian's fortune is so bad it affects practically every aspect of his life, and only Hua Cheng's extremely good luck can ever balance it out.

⬢ Inventory:
• his default outfit is his white cultivator robes.
• a secondary outfit would be his Crown Prince of Xianle robes.
• his spiritual device, Ruoye, which is sentient white silk ribbon that, like Xie Lian, can sense danger and respond accordingly. it's exact length is undefined, but it's apparently considerable. when dormant, it remains wrapped around Xie Lian's arms and can pass off as regular bandages. it has a very playful and proud personality and enjoys showing off and receiving affection.
• Hua Cheng's ashes in the form of a diamond ring hanging off a silver chain.
• one red pearl earring.
• one red string tied into a bow on his left middle finger. it is magically and spiritually connected to a similar string tied around Hua Cheng's finger, which allows them to follow it and find each other if they're within distance. should the bow come undone, it means the other party has gotten injured.
• a pair of dice that, no matter what number is rolled, will always lead him to Hua Cheng should he be looking for him.
• the two library shirts will be the library card and support your local library ones.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Hua Cheng
⬢ Canon: Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu)
⬢ Canon Point: post novel

⬢ History: link

⬢ Personality:
DEVOTED / LOYAL To start off with, while this is definitely a more positive trait of Hua Cheng's, it really only extends to one person, so it could also be viewed as a flaw. But, ever since Hua Cheng was a young child, his life has been completely devoted to Xie Lian. During a very important ceremony, Hua Cheng fell from a very tall tower and was saved by Xie Lian and ever since has devoted his life — and thusly afterlife — to him. There is literally nothing in the whole entire world and three realms that Hua Cheng wouldn't do for him... or hasn't done already. After losing his life in a war, his spirit was unable to rest because Xie Lian still existed. While a ghost fire, he made many valiant attempts to keep Xie Lian protected or stay by his side. Even after becoming a ghost, he did the same thing. Honestly, he's devoted to Xie Lian to the point of obsession (as in he's been watching over him and waiting for him for 800 years, carved out 10k statues of him, dude is really "I'll Be Watching You" given form). However, his affection and dedication for Xie Lian run very deep and Hua Cheng became one of the most powerful beings in order to protect Xie Lian (and also get some payback against those who wronged Xie Lian over those 800 years). As a child, Xie Lian arrogantly told Hua Cheng if he had no reason to live, then to live for him and, in the end, Hua Cheng took that so literally it's painful.

KNOWLEDGEABLE The amount of knowledge Hua Cheng has is seemingly immeasurable. He knows about almost everything within the world. Much of it is brushed off as him saying he's just read a lot (which is true, he has), but he's taken the time to learn things ranging from literature, the arts, martial arts, weaponry, really the list just goes on. While he's more than happy to share his knowledge with Xie Lian, he can become kind of a smartass when replying to others and questioning why they aren't smart enough to get it themselves. He does have a willingness to learn and gather information, except apparently learning calligraphy. He's terrible.

NONCHALANT / NEUTRAL While his reputation precedes him for a reason, along the way things have become just a little bit twisted from the original intent. His actions are more self-motivated than not, and even though he's the most feared demon and from time to time can be mean or bratty, he tends to remain rather neutral. While the base reason for him becoming a ghost king is revenge, it wasn't his revenge, but rather was for Xie Lian. He doesn't kill for no reason, he doesn't do demonic acts, he just has done a lot of things to cause trouble for the Heavens because they mistreated Xie Lian. Hua Cheng is capable of being civil or even "nice" to people if it's advantageous to him in the end.

ARROGANT It isn't that Hua Cheng believes himself better than everyone, it's just that he thinks everyone else is basically trash. (Except, y'know, his husband. Yes, there is a theme in his personality.) Because he knows so much, he isn't afraid to flaunt it and can often be found "What, like it's hard?"ing toward other people — namely Heavenly Officials — because he just doesn't have the patience for any of them. He's very casual in showing his strength (like bashing someone's head in over and over with little effort) or spitting out facts about the past or present. And if he can use that knowledge to basically spit in the face of Heavenly Officials, all the better.

INSECURE At first glance, Hua Cheng might not appear this way, but it's something he's struggled with. Ever since he was young, he was bullied for his appearance: he was born with one red eye. Eventually, he did cover it, however, the bullying never really stopped. He began to believe that he was this wretched, ugly thing and that has followed him in the 800+ years he's been around. In spite of being described as devastatingly handsome by pretty much everyone, Hua Cheng is only just starting to believe that he's not as ugly as he's always believed. Because he's felt he's a wretched being, he's struggled with his feelings of self-worth and wasn't sure he even deserved Xie Lian's affections. But, he's also somewhat selfish in that regard because he wants those affections so, so much so he takes them and, over time, has become quite greedy for them.

RAGE / RESENTMENT So, here's the thing: Hua Cheng's personality is shaped by Xie Lian and all of them tie back to him. This one is no different. Because of all the mistreatment Xie Lian suffered over the years through his various ascensions and banishments, hate has grown sufficiently within Hua Cheng's heart. That saying that spite is a motivator is literally Hua Cheng. He waited many years before he was able to become a Supreme (the highest level demon) and began exacting his revenge on behalf of Xie Lian. Thirty-three gods bullied Xie Lian and Hua Cheng challenged all of them and swiftly beat them and when none of them followed through with their agreement, Hua Cheng burned all their temples to the ground in one night, effectively wiping them from existence in one fell swoop. He is loathe to Xie Lian's "closest friends" because Hua Cheng felt they abandoned him at a time when he most needed them. While on his path to become a Supreme, he wound up doing a good deed that tipped the scales to have him ascend and without a second thought, Hua Cheng lept back down because he harbors nothing but contempt for the Heavens. Some of his resentment, too, is toward himself because for a long time he was unable to do anything to help Xie Lian and had to watch him deal with one painful thing after another.

⬢ Powers:
- E'Ming: a sentient (more or less) scimitar that emits an evil aura and is said to have a cursed blade in that if someone slashed with it, Hua Cheng can make the wound bleed if he desires it even if he's not near the person.
- Wrath butterflies: these silver translucent butterflies have... so many functions. They can provide light in the dark, tell when something is an illusion or not, attack people, heal wounds (likely not heavy wounds?), surveillance by attaching to someone so Hua Cheng can hear what's going on in the surrounding area, they can also record conversations and Hua Cheng can rearrange the conversation as he sees fit. Hua Cheng can also disappear into a swarm of these to leave somewhere.
- Physical: he's kind of op in the shounen protag kind of way. He's known as one of the strongest beings in canon (ranking third, basically) and just has massive spiritual power. He's incredibly skilled using swords, though best at sabers.
- Spiritual Power / Magic / Mana: (whatever u would like to call it) he has some magic dice that are used for something called a Distance Shortening Array -- which is basically a form of teleportation -- and also depending on the number he can tell if danger will await him on the other side or not. He can also turn people into daruma dolls... either he can break the spell or it will wear out after a period of time. He can transform his appearance at will, which is mostly him shifting into his "San Lang" persona which is that of a ~17 y/o young man with both eyes. He can use this power to communicate telepathically within a communication array. ...He can turn (blood) rain into flower petals. This spiritual power can be passed on to others through some kind of bodily contact. He can make others look like himself and clone if he sees fit.
- Immmortal: more or less, not sure what else to call it. He can only be killed if his ashes are destroyed.

⬢ Inventory:
- his red and black robes with silver vambraces, silver chains, accessories
- his scimitar, E'Ming
- a red pearl bead
- a red string tied around his finger
- magic dice
- his second outfit
- shirts 1 & 2

⬢ Canon Point: Post Chapter 4

⬢ History: Story/Translation Masterlist | Supplimental Masterlist | Personal Wiki Page

⬢ Personality:
"I hate being told “You’ll never become number one!” the most, got it?"

Leona, as one might expect from a lion, is very proud, and surprisingly driven. He wants, desperately, to be "number one" in whatever he does, from being exceptionally skilled in magic, to becoming dorm head, to winning maglift tournaments, to even becoming king, and he has a natural knack for success. He tends to be very good at whatever he puts his mind to, and is very intelligent, able to plan and strategize ways to get to the top of whatever he's trying, even if he doesn't especially have a knack for it, or if there's someone better than him at it, even to the point of cheating to get ahead. After all, it's not cheating if you don't get caught, and the king of beasts used every resource at his disposal, so he'd be stupid if he didn't do the same.

But...

"Your life is something that’s almost entirely decided for you the moment you’re born. You’re not gonna get far with dedication alone."

He was born as the second son, and his older brother is already married and has a child. Unless something tragic happens, he can never be king, and even in such an event, he's been looked down on for most of his life, so it would be a hollow "victory". As a result, he has a very defeatist attitude about life in general, and a jaded worldview that shows he probably wasn't always like this. He remarks on how lazy his brother is - even when he himself skips classes constantly to nap - and how he thinks he'd be a better king, how he would be king if succession was based purely on merit, and there's nothing to indicate that he's wrong. So he has a tendency to want to give up as soon as something gets hard, and as soon as his plans fall apart, much to the disappointment of the people who believe in him.

The Prefect was deemed incompetent and all the professional league offers for Savanaclaw dwindled to zero.
...
I’m doing this because I’m concerned about the students’ futures, you know?

That said, he does extend his driven nature and meticulous planning to looking after his "pride," no matter how small it might be. Savanaclaw - his dorm - is his pride, and as much as he might act like he doesn't care about them on the outside, he does care deep down, and wants the best for them, to the point where he'd lie and cheat to ensure they aren't defeated in the first round of an unfairly skewed tournament yet again, so the professional scouts will get to see his boys play at their best.

In the Halloween event, too, his dorm's booth was being destroyed by guests to the school, and he was the first to want to fight to protect their hard work. He insisted at the time that it was because the guests were interrupting his nap, but we've seen in other cases that when his naps are interrupted, he does get annoyed, and he might yell, but he won't fight about it, and will simply go find a different spot to sleep. The fact that he was ready to throw down shows that he cares more than his pride and tough-guy image will allow him to admit.

"Brute strength is way better than pretty-looking magic. But obviously the most important thing is using your head."

While he does have a certain affinity for the ideal of "go big or go home," he does recognize when finesse is necessary and isn't going to crash through every problem presented to him. Thought and meticulous planning (tenacity spanning decades of denial, etc. etc.) is what's most important in the end. He plays chess well, to the point where no one else in the school stands a chance against him, which frustrates him to no end.

"Hah! You made a deal with him so you could set the idiots who signed a contract with him free?"
"Hahaha! This guy’s not bad at all! He’s sending chills down my spine."

When the main character signs an ill-advised contract with Azul (the Ursula expy, to put into perspective just how bad of an idea that is) to help out his friends, he has to go to Leona for some assistance in dealing with the problems presented with that. Previously, Leona had been disparaging of the main characters do-gooder attitude in addition to being a "herbivore" - which is what Leona seems to call everyone who is a non-carinivore beast-person, but especially uses it in reference to humans - but this time, when the spunky do-gooder attitude is not directly detrimental to his own goals, he finds amusement in it. So he's more than willing to indulge in some double-standards when it comes to achieving his goals, perhaps unsurprisingly. What is somewhat surprising, though, is how he actually does seem to like people who are willing to face down seemingly insurmountable odds. Both in the case of going soft on the main character, and in the case of when Jack was being bullied off the maglift team. In both cases, despite his laziness, he still stepped up to help out when he was needed most.

⬢ Powers:
⬢ Offensive Magic: Offensive magic in Twisted Wonderland is divided into four categories; fire, water/ice, earth/wind, and null, with null attacks manifesting as either light or dark. Leona's, like most other characters in the game, manifests as dark magic. It follows the typical rpg weakness triangle of Fire > Earth > Water > Fire, with Null being neutral to everything.

⬢ Practical Magic: Twisted Wonderland also has a wide array of practical magic that doesn't come up in the game's battle system, but does come up in side stories and the main plot. A full list of the currently known classes is here.

⬢ Unique Magic / King's Roar: In addition to offensive and practical magics, everyone capable of using magic in the Twisted Wonderland universe has a magic that is unique to them (hence the name). Leona's is King's Roar, and has the ability of causing anything around him to dry up and turn to dust. Usually, this is restricted to things he's touching, but when he goes all out, it's shown to cause a minor earthquake and kick up a sandstorm. It can be indiscriminate in its destruction (turning a whole stack of papers to sand in an instant), or very, very precise (focusing on Ruggie's mouth and throat while Leona was holding his arm), depending on how Leona feels like using it. It's also ambiguous as to whether or not he needs an incantation to use it. Sometimes he uses one before the magic begins, sometimes he says it while the magic has already begun, and sometimes he doesn't use it at all. The incantation is: "I am starvation, I am drought. I am what steals your tomorrows. Kneel before me! King's Roar!"

⬢ Blot/Overblot: (Copying from this page): Blot is the exhaust of one’s magic, which appears on users’ magical gems as black stains. It’s lethal to the body and could greatly hurt someone if they accumulate too much. Those with more magic power blot quicker than those with less. The stains will disappear on their own with time and rest. Overblot happens if a mage accumulates too much blot and negative energy, so they fall into a ‘berserk’ mode where they become very overpowered and unable to think clearly. It’s an extremely dangerous state to be in and they must be reverted as soon as possible. Usually, those who have recovered from an overblot can’t remember what happened during it.

⬢ Specifics: Despite repeating his third year twice, Leona is extremely talented in magic, being able to replicate a potion just by smelling it, and discovering his unique magic when he was very, very young, which is unusual. One of his "good" (the basic, lowest achievement) lines in alchemy class is "Gold… Not bad." which shows that even difficult feats like creating gold is easy to him. His dorm also determines its head by a magic duel, and Leona's method for choosing his vice-head is to only offer the position to someone who had the guts to challenge him. Everyone who has tried has been so humiliated, they declined the offer. Based on his card-elements, he has a particular affinity for earth/wind magic (his main SSR is double-earth, and there are more earth elements than any other when combining all his cards), and a dislike for null magic (none of his cards have null as an option, though he has used it as an enemy the player has to fight), probably due to his need to always find an advantage, and null magic is neither strong nor weak against anything. His best subject Ancient Curses.

⬢ Special Talent: No matter where he is, Leona can fall asleep in three seconds or less.

⬢ Name: Dirk Strider
⬢ Canon: Homestuck (Expanded Universe)
⬢ Canon Point: Homestuck Epilogues: Meat (End)

⬢ History: Homestuck wiki | Epilogues

The personality contains more pertinent links. Homestuck is a hard canon to work with.

⬢ Personality: [CW: Suicide and suicidal ideation, mind control] "I am my Ultimate Self." This is what Dirk claims, but what does that mean? In this essay I will--

Wait.

Dirk Strider | Bro Strider | Lil Hal | Arquius Sprite | Lil Cal | Doc Scratch | Brobot | Lord English

Okay. Those are all Dirk. You'll need to know them, because Dirk "I am my Ultimate Self" Strider is all of them.
There's also this asshole, who's part of Lord English. This is important, because it puts him in a very interesting position relative to the other narrator in the Epilogues. But that's for later.

Dirk, as per the Homestuck Epilogue, is in the throes of the merging of all splinters and versions of himself across all of Paradox Space and its timelines into his single consciousness. He is not the only character experiencing this: Rose, for example, is so debilitated by this experience (as a Seer, she is also absorbing every single vision experienced by every single version of herself, and as a Seer of Light, that is effectively all the knowledge of the universes: canon, outside canon, and non-canon) that it is killing her. (This, as it turns out, is actually Dirk controlling the narrative to make her ascension affect her in this way... but that's a later issue.)

Dirk, in one of the two Epilogue routes, commits suicide as a last act of control in a timeline rapidly dissolving into non-canon status, and in the other unlocks what has been referred to as powers of "Ultimate Self" that allowed him to take over the story-telling of Homestuck itself in the Meat path of the Epilogue. Which is the path this Dirk occupies. Sort of. Because Dirk is not okay, in any path, and this Dirk in particular is comprised of a great many terrible people, existing simultaneously and in multiplicity with multiple less terrible people, but under the pressures and influences of significantly worse people (Caliborn) and in direct antagonism with a theoretically less terrible person who hypocritically stands only to gain from his gradual transformation into an increasingly evil anime villain motherfucker, and whose opposition to him only serves to shape him further into such.

But then, he stands to gain from that, too. It is, in fact, his entire stated goal.

A non-canon state is intolerable to him, and his purpose in seizing control of the narrative is to give the story direction and purpose, and in doing so enable as many of his fellow players to unlock their ultimate selves as well. In other words, he wants them to control the narrative so they can't fade out of canonical relevance. Controlling the narrative is a very literal act. Dirk is writing the third person narrative and inserting thoughts and feelings into others' minds and even dictating their dialogue--to a greater or lesser degree, as some are able to resist him, others outright aware of his influence. An alternate version of Calliope, the Muse, arrives from a different space and time and fights with him for control, leading to a lot of petty bickering and underhanded tactics as they fight to tell the story the way they want it.

And not everything Dirk does serves his goal, expressly. Some of it is much more selfish. In a lot of ways, Meat is the Epilogue that Dirk spends self-destructing gratuitously in order to inflict collateral damage on everyone else. What he did to Jake, for example. He spends a great deal of time and text dragging Jake through the mud, with extra emphasis on Jake's uselessness and idiocy. It becomes clear that at some point prior to the Epilogues, he and Jake fell out over romantic issues, and he uses the narrative to keep pushing Jake's thoughts to Dirk--how much he loves Dirk, how much he wants Dirk, how much he regrets hurting Dirk and so on--until Dirk finally arrives at Jake's place in person near the end of Meat. He's there to get a spaceship. While he's there, Jake begs Dirk to take him along, and this is the moment Dirk's been waiting for: Dirk rejects him utterly and just breaks Jake's brain completely. He just obliterates him totally as a person. Snapped like a twig. It's objectively awful. And despite the work he put into setting it up, it's not even the satisfying moment Dirk wanted it to be.

What's happening with Dirk in the Epilogues is three-parted. One, the many selves of Dirk Strider, the many splinters and variations on his original existence, are taking up a vast amount of mental real estate, pushing him to and past the point of losing any control of who he actually is. He's less "Dirk Strider" than he is the vast persona, an abstract concept manipulating the specific 'self' and body of the Dirk Strider in Meat.
It's worth noting Dirk may not have actually achieved his true Ultimate Self. There is no indication that he has (for example) any knowledge of Brain Ghost Dirk. Unlike pretty much everyone else, though, he has a lot of splinters that were not meant to share one brain experience--he would only need to merge some splinters from a few main timeline to go off the rails.

Two, Dirk's reality and sense of self are and were, at best, tenuous and highly artificial--even before he became capable of understanding 'canon' as a state, let alone dictation of the narrative itself.

Three, Dirk's intense, compulsive need to be in control.

The result is a heady mix of Dirk's worst qualities, enhanced and exacerbated by Caliborn's influence, but served as a concoction of his increasingly worse persons (Doc Scratch, Bro Strider, Lil Cal.) People are inherently self contradictory to begin with, but there's this immense ego, this elevated sense of self in Dirk that tends to clip through self loathing like Bethesda game model. Even when there's self hatred (and there is so MUCH self hatred in Dirk), there's an underlying assumption that he knows what's best/better and that was very highlighted in the scenes up to his suicide especially.

Others can be satisfied with their existence, perhaps. But not Dirk. Not as the light of canon was petering out. Unfortunately for everyone. Or fortunately, perhaps. After all, he is giving them the blessing of canon relevance.

They may not longer inhabit canon, but better outside canon than non-canon. Better tenuously relevant than not relevant at all.

Or, put another way.... better tenuously real than not real at all.

It's clear Dirk himself has a nebulous grip on the reality of his own existence. He grew up in extreme isolation, with very little variety in people. To fill that void, a powerless space he could not affect or control, he created an environment full of elements he did control. Artificial bodies and selves, an ever-expanding universe of Him. His obsession with robots mirrors Bro's obsession with puppets--both things that are human-shaped, but ultimately just constructs, to greater or lesser degree of control and autonomy. In the Epilogue, Dirk constantly frames himself and the world around him in mechanical terms. He describes himself as a mechanic, but also describes his own brain and body in mechanical terms. His treatment of the people around him is reflected in that manner--but his view of himself is just as affected. Many of his selves are artificially created, and this further undermines his restricted sense of his own existence. There is no 'realness' to the people around him.

And the further people drift from his own existence, the less 'real' they become in his narrative.

A narrative written by a man who hates himself, every version of himself, with such intensity and such consistency that it is one of the foundational aspects of his personality. A man who thinks not just of death but of suicide, of actively ending himself so frequently that tying himself a noose is swift, practised action. Who grew from a teen struggling with the degree to which one can and cannot control outcomes with regards to people (other and otherwise) and into a man for whom his friends are both the supposed beneficiaries of his choices and the pawns he moves in narrative fashion, no more real to him than he is. Beings whose realities depend wholly on his actions, and so whose manipulation is justified by the outcome he will achieve by doing so.

He's still the same person in some ways. Many ways, even. His brilliant, methodical and detail-oriented mind is still intact. He retains his extraordinary (perhaps excessive) fondness for puppetry and robotics, his unwavering passion for swords of a particular kind (katanas), his pedantic diction. His self-absorbed, big-picture perspective. His strange but definite sense of humour. His, uh. Often uncomfortable sexual frankness. And his priority treatment of his family and friends.

His motive is rooted partially in his own crisis, his own need to be, and to have an existence that matters, but it's also rooted in sincere concern for his friends, and his desire to protect them from oblivion.

It's just that as less magnanimous and more egotistical minds became part of his multifractal self, as less and less of 'himself' fell within the boundaries of his tenuous mental reality, as reality itself broke from canon and took with it any stability he was relying on... other things in him changed. The way he cared changed, and even though his initial actions may have been rooted in good intentions, by the end, he is fully aware of the fact that these actions are, by most subjective measure, 'bad.'

He accepts this, and then embraces it.

From an outside perspective, this is already pretty gnarly. But once you get into the interpersonal and internarrative application of these changes, it gets... a little gross. The easiest way to show the changes in Dirk as he is now is through his relationships with his ectosiblings. One of the first noticeable features of the epilogue (as narrated by Dirk) is that Dirk is almost never right about the people he thinks he has down. He mischaracterises his friends constantly, especially underestimating their ability to act autonomously and make good decisions. This is especially obvious when it comes to his ectofamily.

Take, for example, Rose. Rose, who he refers to as being his "equal," but in truth is seen more as an extension of himself, more part of him in the same way any other Dirk would be part of him save from her physical separation from his physical self... and of course her imperfection as a person--almost but not quite Dirk, and so lacking just a little bit. She gets by far the most glowing treatment in his narrative. In fact, he describes her every move in seductive terms. Which is creepy, no matter how homosexual he is. But she also calls him 'dad.' This makes more sense in the context of what she says other than that--all of Rose's dialogue exists to enhance, glorify, or support whatever dialogue he gives himself. It's very possibly the only way he can extol another person--via objectification. Very literally, later--his grand plan for Rose is to save the ascending Seer from her failing physical form and transfer her consciousness to a robot. And it works!

Dirk is so constantly, intensely lonely that he projects it over the narrative again and again, both in textual manner and in accidental clues. There is a couch in his workshop. A couch he placed there for visitors. Visitors he never received. Until he narrates Rose into his workshop and has occasion to clear that space of all its parts and tools and place her in it. Using his control over Rose to ensure her loyalty and presence, to guarantee her outcome (her survival and her place on and by his side) is questionable at best, but the end of the Epilogues has Rosebot ironing Dirk's pants for him.

This absolute control over Rose is contrasted starkly by his lack of control of Roxy, who (as a Rogue of Void) is unknowable and so beyond him as a person now that they have become inscrutable and untouchable in all ways.

Roxy, his childhood friend. Roxy, the family he literally grew up knowing. Roxy, a person so straightforward that they just outright say what they mean (incredible, for this Ectofamily.) Roxy, who is somehow so impossible for him to comprehend (control) without narrative powers that he is on more than occasion surprised by what comes out their mouth as he writes the narrative. They're totally out of his reach, totally unfathomable. In more than one scene, he is unable to even describe the look on their face. It's almost jarring once the depth of his incomprehension becomes clear. (Ha.)

There is a strangely human series of events related to them, though. Early in the Meat route, Roxy comes out as nonbinary, even masc-presenting and he's absolutely flummoxed by it. Not only did he not see it coming, he can not stop or affect it in any way.

He immediately makes a mess of it by misgendering them (by mistake), and is corrected, and gets so worked up about it all that he immediately projects that mistake and all of his insecurities onto Dave the very next chapter, by making a good chunk of that chapter about Dave repeatedly fucking up in a xenophobic way around Karkat and Kanaya. And he is not nice about it. It's just Dirk lashing out at his own mistakes by smacking Dave around.

If these Epilogues were just Dirk's work of fanfiction, that would not be a terrible way to cope. (Not ideal, either. Projecting on real people is bad, kids.) But by this point, Dirk has already been revealed to be the narrator, and the actual people around him are being moved and affected by his narrative.

Real, but not real. But very much real.

This is relationship Dirk now has with reality. With his friends, and his family. Everything has become about control, in part because he is, more than ever, spiralling out of control. He still WANTS connection, craves contact, but chronically fails to achieve it and so chronically lacks it. He needs that control more--that power over his existence and his outcomes that his entire existence has been marked by lacking. In a desolate oceanic postapocalypse. In a timeline he cannot affect and which offers him a view of further events he has no power over. As a person of action whose actions are perpetually ineffective if not outright meaningless. Dirk is always doing, always driven to occupation, unable to rest, unable to let go. Puppets. Mechanics. People. Himself.

Bro, raising a child that fails to live up to every expectation you have for him, falls short of every target you set for him to achieve. For a certainty of future that you have no power to win and no power to survive.

Doc Scratch, manipulating reality both objective and subjective toward the birth of an outcome that was itself predetermined. A birth that will literally destroy you, of course.

It's not even a little subtle.

Control and self loathing are the twin swords that he is endlessly impaling himself on, and pulling out of his own body to wield again and again against himself.

So then what of Dave? Dave is the most telling, in some ways, because Dave is by far the most complicated relationship he has. Dirk does have a strong affinity to Dave, but he wants a connection that isn't there, in part because he and Dave are both projecting their own brothers over each other. This goes back to formal canon. They DO talk it out eventually, but it results in, for example, Dirk apologising for "his" actions as Dave's Bro rather than either of them connecting in a lasting way as individuals. Instead, Dirk has weighed himself against Dave and found himself lacking, as he weighed himself against his own Dave and failed to measure up.

Dirk, while preserving Dave as the "other" (as opposed to the self), the person against whom his own existence and character is weighed, simultaneously holds Dave to a standard Dave doesn't fit, and keeps finding Dave's character or choices lacking. He is honestly borderline contemptuous of Dave for most of it--the egotistical and judgmental qualities of splinters like Doc Scratch are no doubt part of it, but it resembles strongest the opinions of the original Bro Strider himself, and the ever-present ghost of Caliborn in him. (Him here can be both Bro Strider and Dirk, frankly.)

In the Epilogue, the narration for Dave references a sense of Bro in Dirk so strong that it's practically identical. Dirk, or a version of him, instilled in Dave a way of living and thinking that would, for better or worse, persist far beyond the first thirteen years of his upbringing. And even on Earth C, it’d be kind of tough to say the dude’s general overbearing demeanor wasn’t sufficient to perpetuate the conditioning. So it’s rare he has to guess what Dirk would say he should do.

Of course, Dirk has been in and out of Dave's head the whole time, as narrator. But he is also so resonant with his older, other self that Dave freely interprets this as an organic part of Dirk himself. It's an ominous early clue, bolstered by what we see of Dirk's own opinion in the narrative text.

A lone exception to this frustrated treatment of his brother occurs when Dave finally acts on his more romantic/sexual feelings for Karkat (an event that Dirk attempted to push Dave towards, but nearly ruined in the process.) Then, and only then, does Dirk express sincere pride. Yet very early on, he openly states that he would and could never hurt Dave. Near the end of Meat, he states, let’s also have it on good authority that the next time Dave cuts off my head, it’ll be for good.

So Dave is the Other, the brother both judged by him and by which he will be judged.

It makes sense. In a way--a lot of ways--Dave is the only person who's never let Dirk down.

⬢ Name: John Egbert
⬢ Canon: Homestuck
⬢ Canon Point: The very end of his presence in the Meat Epilogue.

⬢ History: Link to the Wiki

⬢ Personality: John is the sort of guy that things happen at rather than one who necessarily has any control over a situation. On the surface, he seems to be the token everyman character. People call him the leader. He loves his friends a bunch. He’s friendly and dorky and a bit clueless. And without a strong purpose or a central conflict or something very specific he’s been told to do, he feels clueless and empty. Throughout the main plot of Homestuck, John just keeps going. He has to beat the game, so he tries his best to level up, following any instructions he’s given by people he identifies as probably more intelligent than he is, which leads to his death on multiple occasions. Without fail, he prioritises helping his friends and progressing in the game over himself. And while this does wear on him, while his own deaths and the death of his father and his friends build up inside him, he keeps them inside. It isn’t even strictly a case of surface-level repression. John pushes down all of the tragedy he experiences to a point where he doesn’t even actually realise he isn’t ok. When it comes out, it tends to come out as anger directed at something frivolous like finding out a favourite candy of his is made by a company he dislikes, or an unkind prank played on him by a friend. John doesn’t let himself feel sad at first because he doesn’t have the time, he keeps being interrupted by circumstance or whatever purpose he sees as more important than himself. But by the time his session fails and he comes across the battle he missed (because he was venting his emotions being mad at a sexist tool in a dumb cape) he’s pretty much numb. He watches one of the only living people left in his session sob as she buries one of his longtime best friends and just looks faintly sad. Rose expects him to throw a fit when he finds out the Big Bad is the head of his least favourite company and he just. Doesn’t. He can’t let himself feel any of his real big emotions anymore. They don’t help the game.

As far as his strong purpose or path, he doesn’t allow himself to stop. In the failed session, Roxy expresses wanting to just sit down, accept they failed, and wait to fade away, and he can’t accept that. He wants to do something. Terezi showing up and giving him a last minute purpose before she dies is probably a big reason for why he ends up with a crush on her. Without a big purpose or a path, he stagnates. After the end of Homestuck, during the Credits, you see John winding down. He’s invested in building up Earth C at first, when that’s still a task that needs to be accomplished, but year by year you watch him draw back from his friends, and isolate himself. By the time the Epilogues start, it’s been ages since he’s properly talked to or seen most of them. He has no purpose, but he still has his block up, preventing him from actually engaging. He doesn’t know how to exist like a normal person, or let his feelings loose now that he has the time. The version of John I’d be bringing in never even tries to change. He stays in his depression funk in his house and then almost immediately follows the first list of instructions he’s given, just to have a meaningful purpose again.

When he has a purpose, John is fiercely loyal to his friends, motivated and caring. He doesn’t always think his words through, and can say some accidentally pretty hurtful or blunt things, but he means well. When he takes the time to think, he’s really thoughtful and sometimes more perceptive about people than anyone gives him credit. He knows that Rose cares a lot about her friends, for instance, despite the thick layer of sarcasm and bullshit she communicates through. Once he’s had time to meet Karkat, he doesn’t take his rudeness seriously either, because he knows he’s a good guy. He definitely seeks out people who can challenge him, for friendships. He wants people who can be an asshole right back, or engage in playful jibes. When he doesn’t like a person, though, because they’re irredeemably mean or an asshole, he gives it right back, and is purposefully shitty to them (instead of accidentally). Overall, though, when mentally well, he’s almost overwhelmingly friendly to people, practically bludgeoning them in the face with it. The fact that he apparently hasn’t spoken to many of his friends for months in the Epilogue is pretty much the biggest indicator that he’s not OK.

⬢ Powers: John has a frankly absurd amount of powers. First of all, he seems to come by super strength naturally from his family, as both his dad and his alternate universe son expect their wards to one day be able to lift things like concrete safes and entire fridges.
The next power set comes from ascending to godhood within the video game he grew up in. They’re all part of being the Heir of Breath.
- he’s immortal and will live forever unless he dies doing something heroic or villainous
- he can fly
- he can control wind from vast swathes used to move clouds across the entire sky and lift cars to small wisps of wind used to hold his broken glasses on his face
- he can turn INTO the wind
- there seems to be some sort of healing thing associated with Breath that another Breath character nearly or did use but John doesn’t know how to use it so….shrug! I’ll bring it back up again if he comes back with more powers suddenly in the Homestuck sequel
His last power comes from sticking his arm randomly into a powerful magical artifact and is the most OP. It’s his retcon abilities. He can travel anywhere/anywhen, including fictional universes, including inside the graphical interface of someone’s computer. These powers follow no laws of time travel, so they don’t mess up reality when he uses them, though they do change things.

⬢ Inventory: John is wearing his Godtier outfit. He has a MSPA Fetch Modus [inventory] containing Contact and Ghostbusters on DVD, a shaving kit, his phone, and his phone charger. His second outfit is made up of dark taupe cargo shorts, white sneakers, and a white longsleeved tee with his green ghost symbol on it. The library shirts he has are 1 and 2.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Ogata Hyakunosuke
⬢ Canon: Golden Kamuy
⬢ Canon Point: Before arriving at Akou Prison

⬢ History: it's simply not right that a person like you exists

⬢ Personality:
As a soldier, Ogata is exemplary. He doesn't hesitate to kill, and he takes pride in his ability to win his battles. Calculating and patient, Ogata suits his sniper role well. He feels absolutely no guilt for those he shoots - and he thinks everyone else is the same. To Ogata, purity and justice are impossible virtues that society pretends to uphold. This worldview is at the heart of who Ogata is; when it's challenged, he becomes angry and lashes out. As a human, Ogata barely qualifies.

Another fundamental aspect of Ogata's understanding of the world is patricide. He believes that everyone could commit this act, as a rite of passage into adulthood. While part of this belief surely stems from a sense of bitterness towards his own family and the family unit as a concept, it is also a simple act of freeing oneself from any meaningless expectations. He takes pride in himself being a loner, and as with the other elements of his world view, he expects others to wish for the same.

Ogata is a solitary creature. Even within a group he keeps to himself - unless he's eavesdropping. For him, social connections are only made out of convenience, or a mutual sense of give and take. Genuine fondness isn't a factor. He's never shown to have any friends, or any warm feelings for other characters. This doesn't mean he's necessarily incapable of growing close to someone, but doing so surely isn't on his mind.

Despite being someone who only associates with people he deems 'useful', Ogata isn't the best at gaining anyone's trust. He behaves suspiciously often, such as disappearing, making disparaging comments, and eavesdropping. Rather than play the role of a fast friend, Ogata keeps to himself and may ignore the customs or habits of the group he's with - such as not emulating Ainu traditions when traveling with Asirpa and others. He tends to appear aloof and distant, and when his behavior changes, it's almost certainly because he wants something.

Ogata is loyal only to himself. He moves from faction to faction when it suits him, and doesn't often make any grand overtures to alliances. Serving as 'hired help' suits him well enough. Willing though he is to use those around him, Ogata's exact ambitions remain a mystery. He isn't blood-thirsty - senseless chaos serves no purpose for him. Whatever his goal, we just don't know. His clearest motivation currently seems to be simply proving his worldview to himself and others. Protecting himself is a priority, though not his first. To prove his philosophy that no one pure can exist in the world, he's willing to goad an innocent girl into killing him.

Outside of staring down innocence, Ogata functions extremely well under pressure. The threat of death, the opinions of others, or extreme conditions do not hinder his focus, nor his performance. Unfortunately, Ogata is aware that he's very skilled. He has an inflated sense of pride, and is one to subtly brag or more overtly insult someone's struggles in areas he's competent in.

The wiki links are detailed but combine every bit of lore into a huge document so I will be summarizing Zhongli's involvement in text. For reference they are as below:

Timeline
♦ Main Story Chapter 1 Act 1 | Act 2 | Act 3
♦ Character Page for Morax and Zhongli
♦ Historia Antiqua Act I: Sal Flore

Zhongli is the current identity of Morax - one of the Seven Archons, or elemental gods, that rule over the world of Teyvat. Not much is known about the creation and distant past of Teyvat, though what we do know is that gods have lived alongside humans for millennia. Morax first came into existence six thousand years before present day (ingame) and like most gods of that era, he amassed a following of humans who would live under his protection. He became allies with the Goddess of Dust, Guizhong. He would act as the humans' physical protector, while she taught them how to farm and live in civilization. The land that their city was built on would be named the Guili Plains. It was around this time that he attained the status of an Adeptus and became the Adepti's respected leader.

Centuries later, the Archon Wars erupted as the gods of Teyvat vied for the title of Archon from the Sky Realm Celestia. Not all of them intended to conquer, and others fought only to protect their territory. Morax was one of them, intent to defend his people from the fires of war alongside Guizhong and the Adepti. However, he was unsuccessful, and Guizhong was slain in the conflict. He did not falter even with the grief of losing a dear friend, and took his people south to where the city of Liyue stands today. The Archon Wars would last for centuries, and Morax defended Liyue from countless threats big and small. Notable (named) opponents included Osial, the Lord of the Vortex, whom he pinned under the sea using massive stone spears that would later form an archipelago. He also used a large black meteor to sink monsters into the deep open ocean. He had the Adepti by his side, and his status as the Prime of the Adepti ensured their loyalty to him. In the name of defending Liyue, he also cast five beings as Yakshas and gave them great power in battle. However, this meant that he was also the one responsible for cursing them to an existence of endless suffering. He was known to be cold and ruthless, even to friends-turned-foes. However, he staunchly upholded his principles of justice and fairness, which led the people to revere him despite that.

Within Liyue, he would take on any task to ensure that his people could live an easier existence. This included slaying the monster Chi despite its great strength, and going to great lengths to dismember and seal it to prevent its revival. He went as far as to personally exterminate the tentacled version of plague rats from Liyue, even though he had to do this task a single pest at a time, because he gave his word and he would never break a promise. This resulted in him having a strong revulsion towards living sea creatures.

The Archon Wars came to an end two thousand years before the current time. Seven victors remained and were granted the title of Archon, each having an elemental aspect and ruling over a nation. Of the original Seven, five of them have died in the two thousand years since, and only Barbatos (Wind) and Morax (Earth) are still alive. Since then, Liyue developed into a prosperous trading post under the watchful eye of Morax. He created the currency of Teyvat, the Mora, and contributed to the establishment of trade throughout the world. Unlike Barbatos, who left Mondstat to govern itself, Morax was a constant presence in Liyue. He would rule as a large dragon, but also go incognito in the city in many forms. Liyue's more mundane matters were overseen by the Liyue Qixing, a committee of merchant leaders. Its people take pride in being side-by-side with their deity and all that he represents.

Eventually, the wear and tear of repetitive matters took a great toll on Morax's heart, and he entertained the idea of retiring. However, he could not leave until he was sure that Liyue could survive without him. To do this, he constructed a test for the nation. In exchange for the Cryo Archon's help, he would give her his Gnosis, his symbol of authority as Archon. She agreed to send agents from her nation to Liyue and begin to pose a threat to Liyue's stability, tasking them with the mission to assassinate Morax and acquire his Gnosis (without telling them that she would already receive it). Thus the events of the game and the main character's arrival in Liyue unfold.

Morax faked his death at the Rite of Descension, a yearly event at which he was supposed to give prediction and guidance to the city for the next twelve months. While the Qixing scrambled to investigate his supposed death, he observed everything as his mortal disguise Zhongli. He took the time to assess the main character's personality by inviting them to prepare for Morax's funeral. Things came to a head when the Fatui decided to steal the Gnosis from Morax's 'corpse' - which naturally was not there. As a backup plan, the Fatui unsealed Osial from under Guyun Stone Forest, and it was beaten back by the combined efforts of the Qixing, the Adepti, and the main character.

Satisfied with the mortals' performance, Morax gave his Gnosis to the Cryo Archon's representative and commenced his retirement, continuing to live out his role as Zhongli. He would maintain his mortal disguise for a time until he encounters the main character again on board the Pearl Galley at a gathering of archaeologists. He permits the main character to accompany him on his visits to Guyun Stone Forest and Sal Terrae in search of historical artifacts. After dismissing one of their companions for breaking their contract, he continues into the ruins of Sal Terrae and shows the main character what happened to the deceased Goddess of Salt. He then returns to Guyun Stone Forest with the Goddess' artifacts and consigns them to the sea so that they would not fall into mortal hands once more.

⬢ Personality:
Zhongli gives the impression of a calm, polite, and learned man on first encounter. In the original Chinese text, he frequently speaks in idioms and archaic expressions. Translated into English, he has a formal manner of exposition and does not use contractions or slang. Coupled with his patience and ability to recite historical facts at the drop of a hat, he fills the role of an old soul quite well. He does have some quirks, though - such as his habit of buying things at outrageous prices and never having any money with him. Most attribute this to a fatal oversight in his wisdom, or simply sigh when they are asked to pay off his purchases for him. Of course, he isn't so simple as to conveniently forget about the fact that things have to be paid. Rather, this trait is a window into the identity that he has temporarily put down - that of the Geo Archon, Morax.

Gods do not think in the same way that mortals do. Like the other gods, there is a certain distance that he puts between himself and the humans around him. Humans are, to gods, lesser beings that are on a rung below. They may ascend to become the Illuminated Adepti, or forge friendships with the deities that watch over them, but their lives are ultimately fleeting and they cannot comprehend time in the same way as immortals do. Morax is not exempt from this kind of thinking. He has protected humanity for millennia, taught them the ways of commerce, and enforced the rule of fairness that would make Liyue the most prosperous nation in Teyvat. His concern is ultimately on the greater whole rather than small things such as profit and loss. He simply does not consider the possibility of being poor, because he is wealth itself, and such a deep preconception is not easily shaken by the decision to go incognito.

What Zhongli does consider important is upholding fairness and the adherence to rules and standards. One of his divine aspects is the God of Contracts, and the essence of a contract is to make a fair exchange. He considers a contract fair if both parties stand to gain something from it. Conversely, if the rules are broken, then the perpetrator shall face the 'wrath of the rock', or in other words, his personal displeasure. In a similar vein, he has a strong distaste for liars, swindlers, and people consumed by greed. He must put things right, and it is his readiness to enforce his laws that ensured the disposition of Liyue's folk towards following rules. All that threatened justice and verity needed to be destroyed, even if it entailed the use of overwhelming force. That being said, he is disinclined to use violence to resolve matters as his current identity - he would try to talk things through first, or make a deal that could smooth things over.

Zhongli's dedication to his duty is one of his greatest strengths, and also a sign of his determination. He is a man of initiative - given that his duty is to protect his people, he would actively seek out avenues of improvement and correct what should not be happening. No matter how troublesome or painful the task, he would set his mind to it; he does delegate duties when they become too much for him to handle alone (such as handing some of the administrative tedium to the Liyue Qixing), but he would always give 110% effort to what he can do and not a single bit less. That being said, Zhongli's attitude towards things that don't fall under his duties is tepid at best; willing to let the Qixing take on the whole burden of reconstructing Liyue's economy once he had decided that he officially became retired. After all, if he is to give his all for his people, then there would be nothing left to spare for anything inconsequential.

Most people remark that Zhongli is a very 'particular' person - in his human disguise, he is known for buying only items of the highest quality. His eye for detail lets him appraise materials and crafted works easily (sometimes to the chagrin of the seller), and thus he is used to passing quick judgments on things. This is borne out of his personal adherence to high standards; he believes in striving for the best in all that he does, and in turn expects to only be presented with the best in return for his service. Thus it is difficult to appease him with gifts or physical objects, as his particular preference would result in steep costs. In turn, he values the 'gold' in people's hearts, as good morals and positive personality traits cannot be bought with coin.

As the oldest surviving god in all of Teyvat, Morax is revered by scholars as the God of History. Having lived such a long life is both a strength and weakness for him; Zhongli has an extremely good memory, and he bears the weight of countless experiences both good and bad. He keeps a lot of his heavier emotions to himself, rarely expressing anything stronger than is appropriate for his human disguise. Unlike the Adepti warriors who fought alongside him in the Archon Wars, he is not suicidal, because he bears the hopes and dreams of the people who gave up their lives for a brighter tomorrow. He remembers them in vivid detail, and it is his way of keeping their legacy alive, to witness the peace that they had dreamed of. In this way he is rather sentimental as his mortal incarnation, distinct from the uncaring personality of Morax the Lord of Geo.

When it comes to the distinction between his mortal disguise and his 'true' role, Zhongli is very secretive about his identity as Morax. He always dodges the question when asked, and prefers to let people believe that he is a strange old man rather than someone with any connection to the (supposedly) departed Geo Archon. There are people who see him as stupid because of his inadvertent lack of money and the way he speaks of the god without reverence, but he bears it without complaint. He stands at a turning point in his life where all of the austerity and ruthlessness that he had needed to embody are suddenly not needed anymore, and he is finally, finally capable of doing things for selfish and indulgent reasons.

While he is not likely to have any significant changes in personality, Zhongli is noticeably more warm than the game's portrayal of Rex Lapis. He is willing to try forging friendships with humans and learn more about their perspectives. Of course, he is still able to don the visage of Morax if needed, to lay down the law with spears of stone, but he actively chooses not to. The Age of the Adepti and Gods has come to an end, and the Age of mankind is dawning. Liyue does not need Morax anymore, and Zhongli does not need to become him. His retirement starts now.

⬢ Name: Shang Qinghua (aka Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky)
⬢ Canon: Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System
⬢ Canon Point: around the time Shen Qingqiu is summoned back to his old body in the Holy Mausoleum

⬢ History: https://scumvillain.fandom.com/wiki/Shang_Qinghua ok so this is the wiki link but there is virtually nothing there, so with Harry’s permission here is the canon summary she wrote plus some additional details about what is up with Shang Qinghua
  • Known as Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky in his first life (well, on the internet), this guy is the author of shitty harem novel Proud Immortal Demon Way who also transmigrated into it after he died (by electrocution on account of having knocked cup noodles all over his laptop). In his first life, he was a very broke webnovel author who compromised his Literary Ideals in favor of writing lengthy fanservicey bullshit because that was got the clicks and tips and he had to keep his subscribers happy or he wouldn’t be able to pay rent! He had dreams once of writing an emotionally gripping & complex story but despit the numerous promising plot hooks & foreshadowing in Proud Immortal Demon Way, it is pretty much about a dude just killing and fucking his way through his adventuresome life. It’s What The People Want
    • Sorry unlike Shen Qingqiu we don’t actually know his real name from his first life, he responds to Airplane, it’s cool

  • When he transmigrated, it was also into the body of a villain: Shang Qinghua, lord of An Ding Peak of Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, famous for having turned traitor to his sect as a double agent for the Demon Race and then being murdered very shortly thereafter by his demon boss in the original story.
  • Unfortunately, unlike his buddy Shen Qingqiu, he transmigrated into Shang Qinghua’s body as…an infant! And had to actually live out his miserable poverty-stricken backstory. We LOVE to go through puberty a second time
  • Knowing that death awaits him if he doesn’t change the narrative, he similarly tries to prevent the circumstances that lead to the original Shang Qinghua’s scummy betrayal and totally fails! Just like in his original novel, he winds up pledging allegiance to the demon lord Mobei Jun in exchange for sparing his life. In return, he gets some demon assistance in rising to the top as a cultivator and becoming the Peak Lord of An Ding Peak, but this is really just more leverage for Mobei Jun.
  • During Shen Qingqiu’s potato phase (the five year period in which his new plant body is maturing in the ground after he dies, like a potato), Shang Qinghua defects to the demons’ side for keeps, his treachery exposed to all his trusted colleagues. While his daily life before largely entailed being the Sect Accountant and being made to deal with everyone else’s Logistical Problems, his daily life now involves a lot of the same except with demons and the fun addition of getting beaten up by Mobei Jun for fun on a regular basis. Shang Qinghua does not hesitate for even a SECOND to shove Shen Qingqiu under the bus as soon as he shows up alive again, and when he meets Shen Qingqiu again, is totally shameless about it, claiming the whole “camaraderie among transmigrators” is bullshit when you’re faced with life or death, sorry bro. (His canon point, the same as Shen Qingqiu’s, is shortly after this.)
  • Despite his life as Mobei Jun’s servant being kind of miserable, Shang Qinghua finds himself rushing to rescue his demon king when he’s falling to his death during the big story climax. Turns out he is actually pretty attached to the guy who beats him up on a daily basis! Mobei Jun is also his personal favorite among his OCs; while Shang Qinghua created Luo Binghe for mass appeal, Mobei Jun was based on his own tastes, which is to say, he’s real fuckin gay for his own OC. They wind up married too it’s just how things go in these books

⬢ Personality:
Shang Qinghua loves the simple things in life: memes, job security, and not getting the shit kicked out of him.

OK SO despite all of the above, Shang Qinghua is not really an actively bad or malicious person; he’s just out for himself, that’s just how it is! In his first life he was a Child of Divorce and while you couldn’t say he had a particularly bad childhood, he definitely did not have close, warm relationships with either parent and as an adult, was pretty alone. As a transmigrator, he had an even shittier time of it, constantly being taken advantage of and taken for granted. His walk through life (both of them) has largely taught him that you always look out for yourself first, because no one else is going to; the corollary to this is that there’s nothing shameful about putting yourself first, always, because it’s what a smart person* would do. Maybe it’s not nice to throw other people under the bus, but hey, anyone would in his position, right? Nice people get taken advantage of, after all.

*Shang Qinghua is not a smart person. He thinks he is, though.

The thing is, Shang Qinghua can be a pretty okay guy if there are no external circumstances driving him to throw everyone around him under the bus! He will totally keep a promise* and he can actually be kind of chill, and despite his me-first approach to life, does in fact enjoy having friends. He’s not like…completely terrible. He does draw a line—where, exactly, he draws it may depend on the circumstances—but there is a line, because he’s not an actual villain, just a huge fucking coward. He has a scant few morals he will not abandon immediately to save his own skin, and he is not incapable of doing things like putting his life danger for other people (cf. saving Mobei Jun instead of letting him fall to his death, which would have actually solved a lot of his problems at the time), it just takes him a little while to care enough about someone that he’d feel really bad about fucking them over.

*As long as it is not a problem for him. Do not trust him with your secrets.

Unfortunately, he still has the personality of the kind of person who smugly writes bad porn on the internet for a living and sockpuppets into critical discussions of his work. He’s a fucking meme lord and he thinks he’s hilarious. He has absolutely no shame; he has never even heard the words “saving face”. Frankly it is embarrassing, for other people, how little shame he has. As a result though, he is actually a pretty confident dude; he is never not on his bullshit and he Knows himself (mostly), and his shamelessness comes all the way around to being…kind of respectable? Kind of. That isn’t too say he has no pride (he’s just not terminally attached to it); he does take pride in his writing. He knows a lot of it is bad, okay! But he has Literary Ideals and would probably not be a terrible author if he stopped bending to fanservice. He’s not criticism-proof, but he is criticism-resistant: to Shang Qinghua, praise carries more weight than complaints, and at the end of the day his haters are still subscribing to his work, so it’s not like it’s his loss!

He’s very passionate about the things he loves (read: Huge Nerd), which is maybe his most redeeming quality. His enthusiasm and hype are genuine; he cares about his writing, even if he is willingly compromising its integrity for money. He will write like a man possessed when he’s in his zone; he used to push out daily 10,000 word updates, and his quantity-over-quantity approach helped his perpetually broke ass continue to cover rent. He can talk just as fast, and he will cave to life-threatening (or just wellbeing-threatening) pressure so quickly it gives people whiplash. He will be your new best friend if it will save his skin! He’s often not that convincing, but makes up for it by being relentlessly shameless & pathetic. His general cowardice extends in pretty much all directions, but he does not see this as a character flaw. He has the approximate tact of a ten-year-old and his brain to mouth filter is not very good; sometimes it fails entirely and his internal monologue just escapes right out his mouth.

⬢ Powers:
  • As a cultivator, he can control his spiritual energy in such a way that lends him a sort of broad and vague range of abilities. The book does not really get hella specific about it but here are some things he can do. In theory, being a top disciple in a prominent cultivation sect, you would think he is pretty good at this stuff, but relative to his peers he’s like…just okay.
    • He has a cool sword that is spiritually linked to him, that he can both use as an actual sword or just kinda make it fly around and stab stuff. (He doesn’t do these things.) He can also send out blasts of spiritual energy from his sword and fly on it like a sharp airborne skateboard
    • He can fire off blasts of spiritual energy, make objects explode with spiritual energy, make shields out of spiritual energy…you can do a lot with spiritual energy, is what I’m saying
    • Being a cultivator is more or less like being a superhero in that you’re just like an Upgraded Person: he doesn’t age, doesn’t (technically) need to eat or sleep, is generally tougher/stronger & recovers more quickly than the average person, etc.

  • He does, technically, know how to use his sword in both fashions, but he sucks in a fight
  • Logistics & administration. This is literally his job as Peak Lord but he is actually pretty decent at it. He resents it immensely though
  • He can write at absolutely inhuman speeds. Seriously. Proud Immortal Demon Way is thousands of chapters long. This is probably his most significant power

⬢ Inventory:
  • He will be arriving in his cultivator garb aka lots of layers and flowy robes, and those robes include qiankun sleeves! Qiankun sleeves are basically bags of holding, but on your arms. You can store so much shit in your sleeve hammerspace it’s EXTREMELY convenient
  • His fancy cultivator sword, which will be locked away, which he’s like, pretty fine with
  • A large bag of delicious melon seeds.

⬢ Sample 1: [shang qinghua & shen qingqiu]
⬢ Sample 2: [shang qinghua & shen jiu]
⬢ Sample 3:
The thing about transmigrating after dying is that you don't really experience the transmigration part. Just zap, crackle, boom you're dead here's your new infant body, have fun suffering through puberty again! So when Shang Qinghua suddenly finds himself deep in the dimly lit periodical stacks with no memory of transition, he’s totally disoriented. The smell of old books is distantly familiar, but nowhere he’s been recently, that’s for damn sure. He shakes out his sleeves and snaps his fingers a few times before a pale flame flickers in his palm.

Hmm.

There is no way a library like this exists in the Demon Realm; actually, given that he’s been kicking it in fantasy ancient China, there’s no way a library like this exists in the Human Realm, either. Are those…magazines?

He likes to call himself an experienced transmigrator, but the truth is that his only experience with it has been by dying, and he has to wonder if Mobei Jun finally went overboard and accidentally beat him to death. He doesn’t remember being in a punching bag session with his king, he’s pretty sure he’d been in the middle of doing demon taxes or whatever…

"The fuck?" he mutters, peering at the titles. These look like literary journals, and this looks like a huge-ass library. Seems…safe? But he’d be a total idiot to assume it’s safe just because it’s quiet and he seems to be alone, right? "Hey, System, is this a prank? Am I being punished? Can I use B-points to get out of it?”

No response. Shang Qinghua stops and knocks on the System, except...it's not there??

This is a good thing, right? No System haranguing him, forcing him into plot points he wants nothing to do with, no worrying about keeping his score up—right? But transmigrating without a System? Ah, fuck, maybe he edied for real, and this is some kind of weird literary purgatory! All of Shang Qinghua’s relief evaporates in favor of rising alarm. He wasn’t feeling too attached to his life in the Demo Realm, shitty as it was, but the last thing he wants to do is actually die for real!

⬢ Canon: My Hero Academia
⬢ Canon Point: Chapter 289

⬢ History: link to her wiki page!

⬢ Personality:
As a bright and cheerful person at heart, Ochako has a fairly positive outlook on life. She has a very bubbly personality that can sometimes make her seem air-headed or naive, and while she can be both of those things, at her core she really just likes to look at things through a positive lens. She makes an effort to be kind to people she doesn't even know, just because she can, and is well aware that this one of her strengths - it's one of the reasons she's aiming specifically to become a rescue hero, as opposed to a support or combat hero. Her outgoing personality makes her easy to talk to, or perhaps just easy for her to talk to anyone. Whether or not her conversation partner actively participates, she's content enough to fill the silence with chatter of her own.

But this isn't to say she's as ditsy as she may come across. While she does tend to speak without thinking and say some rather blunt things, Ochako pays just enough attention to see the strengths and weaknesses of those around her, and pick up on how they feel, such as the time she refused to take part in a mission because it wouldn't be appreciated by the one it was meant to help. This can help her when it comes to combat situations, proving she has a strategic mind in how she can use her opponent's weaknesses against them while developing her strategy on the spot.

However, this also means she is aware of her own weaknesses as well, and the number one issue she has is complacency. Ochako doesn't push herself, at least not for her own sake. She is always willing and ready to help others (like her parents, who are her entire motivation for becoming a hero in the first place), but if left on her own, she tends to just go with the flow. While this can also be a good thing, letting her keep moving through life without being bothered by others, it also means she often defaults to what she's used to instead of seeking out a challenge to improve herself. Usually what brings this to mind is seeing her friends excel and better their skills. As a very supporting friend, Ochako is always happy to see them do well, but it's also a painful reminder of her fear of falling behind. The good thing is that she tries to turn that fear into motivation to do better instead, and looks at her friends as inspirations as they strive to succeed.

Those same friends have noted how intense she can get when inspired, though. Once decided upon something, she is completely unwavering and dives into tasks with an almost manic fervor. Sometimes she can be downright intimidating - often in combat situations, such as when she shadowed the pro hero Gunhead to learn martial arts to improve her physical strength, one of her known weaknesses, at least a little. The problem here is that Ochako has trouble drawing the line between determination and utter recklessness, which can lead to her pushing herself too far, to her own detriment.

Despite that, Ochako more or less knows what she wants out of life. Her primary goal is simple: become a hero, collect the money, and try to make her parents' lives a little easier. She's a bit embarrassed about her family's background with financial difficulties (especially with the fact that it's made her... kind of stingy with her money in some respects), but she is honest enough to own up to it. Helping people gives her a sense of pride, even if it's just her own parents in a theoretical future. And for all their support and insistence on doing what she wants no matter what it means for them, Ochako wants nothing more than to pay them back for that kindness. And what better way to do it than to become a hero they can be a proud of? Ochako knows the path ahead of her won't be easy, but she also knows that it's what she wants, and she plans to work hard to get there.

That said, after failing to save someone once, being a hero has become more to her than a means to take care of her family, though it is still that. Heroism, to Ochako, is doing her best to save as many people as possible, and she clings to that goal with an almost single-minded determination. With the worsening situation with the League of Villains, being an up-and-coming hero is a touch overwhelming, and not even Ochako with her bright, optimistic personality is immune to feeling discouraged in the face of what feels like impossible odds. But instead of letting it paralyze her, Ochako uses it as a driving factor in her motivation to save whoever she can, whatever it takes. If it means fighting, she will fight. If it means rescuing civilians or even fellow heroes in need, she will do that, too, though she will always do her best to finish the fight quickly and get back to those who need her help. Sending money to her family is still a huge factor for her, of course, but she's grown into a hero who really wants to save people - not just for the money, but because the lives of the people she is meant to protect are more important than anything, and she doesn't want to let someone else slip through her fingers.
⬢ Powers:
Zero Gravity - Ochako's quirk, Zero Gravity, gives her the power to nullify the effects of gravity on something she touches and make it float. She can use this ability on just about anything, including living creatures and herself, but if she nears her limit (which, after serious training, is estimated at around 5-6 tonnes) or makes herself float, she suffers severe nausea. She can only float herself for short periods without feeling these symptoms. This is her only supernatural power; all other skills and abilities are things she's been working to hone over time as any normal human would.
⬢ Inventory:
Hero costume (current outfit) - made with special features to help reduce nausea symptoms brought on from her quirk by stimulating (or reducing stimulation of) pressure points in her ears, neck, and wrist. The belt mostly is for decoration, but it does have small storage compartments. For simplicity's sake, I'll break down the pieces of the costume with more features than nausea relief:
★ Uraraka Leg - These shoes are designed to help cushion Ochako's fall, with springs in the heels and shock-absorbing cushioning in the toes. After a recent costume update, there may also be some minor rockets in the soles to increase mobility while floating, though this is not confirmed by the character herself.
★ Uraraka Wrist - In addition to helping suppress nausea, these are equipped with grappling hooks. There are four separate, heavy wires in each wrist guard, which she uses to catch herself or others in midair, or to attach to items she's floated to make use of for attacks by throwing those items at her opponents.
★ All Might key chain - her Christmas gift from Izuku Midoriya, kept in the belt of her hero costume.
Secondary outfit
★ For t-shirts, please give her options 1 & 3!

⬢ Canon Point: After Chapter 12: To War (Verdant Wind), before the time skip.*
*Note that I'm rolling with Cindered Shadows DLC completed, Ashen Wolves recruited, no other students recruited, and female Byleth.

⬢ History: Here. Note that Claude's route is "Verdant Wind" but at his current canon point, most of those events haven't occurred yet.

⬢ Personality:
→ Friendly, compassionate, accepting
One thing that is obvious about Claude is that he's a friendly person. He's quick to smile and strike up a friendship with anyone he meets. It doesn't matter who they are, where they're from, or what their social class is. This sometimes irritates the people around him because as the future Duke Riegan, there are people who think he acts too casually and doesn't take his rank seriously. There's this idea that he should be careful with who he interacts with and how he acts around them and while he actually takes his duties seriously, this is just one of those areas where he ignores tradition and expectation and acts as he wants. If given the chance, he gets along with others well.

Getting to know him more, he reveals that his reasons for treating people kindly stems from a troubled past that he keeps close to his chest. He's beenconsidered an outsider ever since he was a child. He was bullied and rejected. Instead of becoming a bitter person, he took those experiences and opted to treat people the way he wished he'd been— with compassion, fairness, and acceptance. He remarks that the Golden Deer is a mismatched house. It has commoners and nobles, slackers and scholars, and he embraces all of their quirks. This is further supported when he approaches Byleth for counseling. Despite being a leader and one who seems to get along with the main characters in his House, he's actually the subject of a lot of rumors and gossip. He says, "I often overhear people commenting about how strange I am. I don't really get it. Shouldn't it be expected that everyone has their own unique perspective on life?"

Most significantly, his experiences and ideals shape his dreams for the future. Claude dreams of a world where people are free from status and Crests and judged by their own merit. In his ideal world, it doesn't matter where you're from or how you were born, you're free to be yourself and can feel like you belong in the world. Claude ultimately dreams of a better future for everyone. This dream is his motivation for everything and he'll stop at nothing to accomplish that goal. It's a large dream that he knows he can't accomplish alone so he starts with himself first; by leading by example treating people the way he wants people to be treated in his ideal world.

→ Casual, easy-going, nonchalant
Something that adds to his friendly demeanor is how easy going and nonchalant he can act about things. He's heir to the leading house of Leicester and is someone who will be one of Fodlan's great leaders in the future. Instead of acting nobly and seriously like the other leaders, he takes on a much more laidback approach.

He's often scolded for being lazy and not taking things seriously. He adopts a very relaxed approach to the noble traditions expected of him like worshipping the goddess and coming up with plans for his house. His priorities always seem a little off compared to most— when others are planning for battle, he's thinking about what to eat. While others treat Byleth seriously as their professor, Claude nicknames them "Teach" and immediately acts friendly. He's also someone that acknowledges that there's a lot of mystery and some conspiracy around him and he understands why people would be concerned but he brushes it all off, telling people not to worry much to their annoyance. People often tell him he doesn't act very noble and he considers it a compliment.

→ Reliable, determined, thoughtful
That said, despite his friendly and laidback demeanor, Claude actually takes his duties as house leader and future heir very seriously. Once you get to know him, he starts to open up and reveals that he has a dream that he's striving for. He enrolled in school to become stronger and achieve his dream. He admits to coming to school to meet people who can help him achieve his dream and he sees potential in the people that he meets.

Throughout the game, other characters remark that even if he acts lazy and they don't know what to think about him all of the time, they feel like they can rely on him. His other classmates describe him as, "He acts carefree, but secretly, he's so serious!" and "He rarely takes things seriously, but somehow… I just know we can rely on him." They also acknowledge that even if he's lazy, he's a person with many talents, something that is supported by the fact that Claude is one of the characters with the most skill proficiencies in the game.

Tying back into his compassionate nature, whenever he sets out on a mission, he tries to think about others. He looks out for the wellbeing of those under his command and beyond that, he considers the innocent civilians and reluctant enemies they might fight. He dislikes fighting and he can be counted on to avoid it as much as possible. While he prefers peace, he isn't against violence and he's willing to fight and do whatever is necessary to protect those who rely on him. This makes him an excellent and dependable leader for his allies but for his rivals (and enemies) he's a fearsome opponent that shouldn't be underestimated.

→ Curious, intelligent, scheming, diplomatic
Claude really isn't much of a fighter! He's a natural archer so he prefers to avoid fighting up close and pick people off from a distance. Statistically, he's got the archer stats to go with it and while he's speedy and skilled, he has no business being on the frontline and really shouldn't be taking any hits. He hints at this a few times in-game when he asks other characters to go easy on him in matches and generally leans into the idea of him being weak and a coward.

His greatest asset, however, is his intelligence. He's incredibly knowledgable about the history, politics, and economics of Fodlan to the point that other characters are regularly surprised by how much he knows. He knows enough that he's able to realize that things aren't quite what they seem at Garreg Mach and within Fodlan and begins to look for censored material to uncover "the truth." This leads to him stumbling into a conspiracy that goes back centuries and involves the entire continent. While he has his own dream and motivations, he begins to look at the bigger picture around him and his route is really focused on learning the truth about the world.

During the academic year, he's temporarily pulled out of school to fill in for his sick grandfather back home. Even if he isn't Duke yet, he's asked to help moderate the roundtable conference. When he comes back, he remarks that it wasn't his first time taking part in a meeting and he implies that it all went well enough, even if it was exhausting. The roundtable doesn't get along with each other and to lead them, he has to mediate between the other houses in his nation to keep the peace. It's worth noting that in a couple of years after he becomes Duke Riegan, he's able to balance out the roundtable and keep the alliance both together and neutral during the war which speaks for his skills as a diplomat.

He's a known schemer. Everyone calls him a schemer and he owns it. At first, his schemes are played off as silly things— he uses dirty tricks like poison! He'll poke fun at his opponents to get a rise out of them! But it's all revealed that he's actually thinking seriously when he engages in shenanigans like this. In all seriousness, he'd rather poison his enemy to cut down their numbers before a battle has even begun. He'll dig up secrets on his enemies to rile them up and distract them in a fight. Is it noble? No. Does he care? No. Regarded as a no good schemer at first, he's actually a shrewd tactician taking different things into account— how many people will he have to fight? How determined will his opponent be in a fight?

→ Secretive, distrustful, independent (Spoilers for Verdant Wind!)
One of the first impressions Claude gives in the game is that he's someone with a charming smile that doesn't reach his eyes. From the get-go, it's obvious that he has an air of mystery to him and he's someone with many secrets. He's incredibly aware of this too and owns up to it. He teases others for not knowing what his secrets are and outright admits that he has secrets he can't reveal for XYZ reason. He tells lies, offers different accounts of events, and just shrugs it off or flees the conversation when he's called on it.

Claude has all of the personality traits of a well-liked and popular person but the truth is, because of his secret origins and reluctance to share any information about it, he's the subject of rumors and gossip both at school and at home. Rival lords are always trying to find out more information about him and some people even hire mercenaries to try and dig into his past to discredit him. Diving into his background/past a bit here, the truth is, he really is a Riegan through his mother's side and he's a legitimate heir to the leadership. What he doesn't admit though is that his father is the King of Almyra, the traditional enemy of Fodlan. Fodlan is a closed nation that looks down on outsiders. When Claude arrived in Fodlan, he heard people referring to Almyrans as "menaces" and "beasts." Expecting rejection, he kept his heritage a secret.

Going further back, in Almyra, he was bullied for being mixed because, in Almyra, people from Fodlan were considered weak and cowardly. In his own words, he was hated just for existing, and even though he was born a prince, his life wasn't an easy one. It's left pretty vaguely and is never explained in-game but interview notes imply he might have many half-siblings and that Claude himself is an insignificant member of the royal family. He was looked down on and was in an environment where he constantly had to prove himself and his attempts were never good enough. He didn't live luxuriously and there were multiple attempts on his life. He spent much of his childhood fighting for the right to live as himself and licking his wounds. His parents encouraged him to become stronger so he could win his own battles without relying on anyone. In turn, he eventually became independent and self-reliant... something Claude isn't very proud of because he's aware that these experiences made him dishonest, distrustful, and incredibly lonely.

⬢ Powers:
Minor Crest of Riegan,
Most notably, Claude possesses a Crest. Crests grant special abilities to those who inherit them. Claude's Crest of Riegan allows him to occasionally heal himself in battle. He has no control over it and it just triggers on its own. As he has a Minor Crest so it activates less than a Major Crest. This translates pretty easily in RP terms so basically, he'll (sometimes) randomly heal himself when fighting.

His Crest also allows him to use the Heroes Relic, Failnaught, and the Sacred Weapon, the Sword of Begalta to their full potential. He won't have these in-game because of his canon point but I'll briefly explain them below because... RP and you never know:
Failnaught
A very powerful bow. Technically, anyone can use it but without a Crest, it would put immense mental and physical strain on the user. Claude's Crest allows him to use it without consequence and further enables him to use its special ability, Fallen Star, which is effective against dragons.
Sword of Begalta
A sacred sword. Anyone can use it without consequences and it heals the user after every turn. With Claude's Crest, the effect is increased.

Combat
Claude is a skilled fighter and is proficient in different weapons especially bows and swords. He's a natural archer and it's the weapon he tends to default to because he likes to avoid combat if possible but he can handle himself just fine with a sword. In true JRPG archer fashion, he doesn't hit the hardest and he has no business taking hits on the front line but he's dodgy (fast) and skilled (doesn't miss his target often). He also has a knack for axes because he needs it to prepare for his final class in-game. I don't really do much with this in RP but it's worth noting just in case.

Riding
He's a talented rider not just when it comes to horses but also on a wyvern (flying dragon). Claude mentions that where he's from learning how to ride a wyvern is a rite of a passage and he studies to take the exam to become a wyvern rider. This sets him up for his special and final classes in-game which is a Wyvern Master/Barbarossa— an archer that rides a wyvern into battle. He can also fight on horseback with a bow or swords.

Leadership
Not a power but definitely worth mentioning! As the future Duke of House Riegan, Claude will lead the Leicester Alliance someday. As of now, he hasn't inherited the title but he's had to stand in for his ailing grandfather on occasion. Despite acting flippant about his duties, Claude is a natural and prepared leader and it's one of his strengths in canon! It also gives him a knack for embarrassing protag speeches to rally his allies.

⬢ Inventory:
- His school uniform
- T-shirts 2 & 3!
- His other outfit will be a loose, white blouse, high-waisted black pants, boots, and plain, brown traveler's cloak.
- Leather bow sheath,* a leather bow sheath engraved with an unfamiliar script.

Weapons
- Silver bow+, a fortified silver bow. Comes with 30 silver arrows and a quiver.
- Silver sword+, a fortified silver sword
- Mild stomach poison, a small bottle labeled "Mild Stomach Poison" that seems fairly harmless.**

*Will also probably end up in the case with his bow and arrows h a h!
** I'm just assuming poison = weapon and also ends up in the weapons case... it's cool he doesn't need it. He'd probably poison himself anyway.

⬢ Name: Ichiban Kasuga
⬢ Canon: Yakuza 7
⬢ Canon Point: Post game

⬢ History: Fan wiki | (Spoilers) Wikipedia

⬢ Personality:
Ichiban Kasuga was born in a soapland and raised by the redlight and nightlife district of Kamurocho. The neighborhood also had a heavy Yakuza presence. After being rescued from an incident by the Arakawa family patriarch, Ichi devoted himself to the Yakuza life.

But to Ichi the meaning of Yakuza life is something way more than just money and power. He sees the Yakuza as community protectors-- in place of the police who see a large amount of the business in the neighborhood as illegal. Community protector is the role that Ichi wants to play. He articulates to Arakawa-san that he cares more about helping the people in the community than he does about earning cash. This behavior is much to the consternation of the family treasurer, but Arakawa himself promotes this idea in Ichi. Arakawa suggests that the family requires a variety of different mindsets and skills to succeed. Arakawa also says that he doesn't see the family as employees or servants, but as his sons. Other thugs make fun of the Arakawa family as an 'after school club'. They also say that Arakawa has gone soft. So this attitude isn't popular in the general criminal community, but it is what was taught to Ichi. Arakawa is his primary example of the kind of man he wants to be.

The old-school yakuza patriarchs that Ichi admires each talk about providing stability and community for the underclass who are otherwise villainized and victimized by society. Creating a home and community for people who would otherwise be adrift is a big theme of Yakuza 7. Ichiban endears himself to others who are just trying to get by in a shitty, uncaring world with a little of their dignity still intact. He knows their plight too well. Everyone he has ever loved has been called 'scum' by society; himself included. Coming from an unwanted underclass, Ichi is quick to see the potential and worth in everyone around him. This contributes to his strong sense of justice, which intersects with the Yakuza codes... Sometimes.

Despite being a (former) Yakuza, he doesn't really want to unfairly harm anyone. While he has a lot of promise as a future leader, he is warned by chairman Hoshino (another patriarch) that suffering is often the nature of the business in the criminal underworld. He also reminds Ichi that a Yakuza's power is often in image and reputation. Neither of these are things that Ichi really wants to pursue. He wants to be authentic, and often still feels like he's just playing at being a badass. Most of all, he doesn't want to break a few innocent eggs to make an omelet. He wants to lift up everyone. He's not content to just stop further wrong from being committed, he also strives to retroactively make things right. You see this in him early on when he both beats up a guy scamming kids, and then returns the money to said kids instead of taking it back for collections (like he was told to.)

While Ichiban has roots in the very real worlds of organized crime and the under-priviledged underclass, he often doesn't live in reality. He spent his childhood in the soapland playing JRPGs by himself in the back office. Meanwhile, 'the business' went on around him. He has a wild and childish imagination, and he uses it to analogize his own goals to be a Hero. He also uses his imagination to energize his difficult life and to motivate himself when the going gets tough. Some of this behavior is arrested development. He was only 23 when he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, which he served diligently. Some of this behavior is willful: he would rather be a proud idiot than become cynical and uncaring. His unrelenting positivity and good humor are beloved by those close to him.

Ichi also has no guile or subtlety, he can be so direct as to be audacious. He solves most problems with his fists. He has also used his insider knowledge of underground life to openly call out other thugs when they're overstepping themselves. In this way, he's not actually as stupid as his earnest care, zaniness, and over the top positivity make him appear to be.

Throughout the story of Yakuza 7, he hones his thinking to show more and more perceptiveness. He learns to expand his considerations from just his friends and his neighborhood to thinking about society as a whole. In Yakuza 7, he learns about the realities of what makes and keeps people in homelessness. He also learns more about the complicated interplay of crime, violence, and politics while living in Ijincho. The complicated politics of Ijincho involve four different crime families all with very divergent backgrounds. The actions of politicians also impact the plot directly: one politician who used involved himself in organized crime to help stabilize the 'grey zones' --(under-privileged areas where illegal activity is tolerated so long as it is mostly victimless)--and another politician who involved himself in organized crime for power and influence.

The variety of motivations and backgrounds challenges Ichi a great deal. At first, his impulsivity is used against him and he's used as the fuel to start a gang war. Luckily, he's guided by more experienced leaders who teach him how to maneuver and, in the end, how to deal with an enemy he can't just punch. By the end of the game, Ichi primarily retains his absurd good humor and wacky imagination, but has more confidence in his life goals and has learned to be (a bit, gotta leave room for sequels) more responsible and incisive.

What doesn't change in Ichiban is his absolutely steadfast loyalty. He still sees past things like social status and cares more about the meaning behind your intentions. Even when someone is betraying him personally, if he understands that it's out of love or duty, he can understand it and get past it. What he cannot understand and will not abide are evil, greed, cruelty, and injustice. When law and society fail to serve justice, Ichi is more than happy to throw himself in harm's way and break the law to make things right.

When he's not actively in some kind of trouble, he's enjoying the small things and trying to bring joy into the lives of those he loves the most. He genuinely doesn't mind how soft and cheesy that makes him look.

In summary, Ichi is a shounen hero who has completed his first big quest. He's made some great strides and retained his golden heart despite tragedy and adversity. His super power is the friends made along the way. But he's still imperfect and that's ok with him, he'll keep working on it. (He karaokes about it, I'm not joking.)
⬢ Powers:

He has stupid luck, a lot of what he gets up to should get him killed and doesn't.

His actually really obnoxious ability to befriend anyone who isn't like overtly evil.

Other than that, he's just a better than average brawler. Pretty powerful and knocks a lot of head during the game, but not the most powerful by any means. He just has a lot of DETERMINATION.

⬢ Inventory:

While it has been reinforced and made nice during the course of the game, his primary weapon is still just a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. #yakuza

He also has his clothes, some change, a pack of cigarettes and lighter, his wallet, and his cellphone.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Emil Västerström
⬢ Canon: Stand Still Stay Silent
⬢ Canon Point: Adventure 2, chapter 10

⬢ History: Here, it's brief but tbh they just scream and hit things in this comic. After the wiki stops, the fearless heroes get chased by ghosts for about two chapters, Emil is the only person panicking over Lalli being in a coma for like two days, and he gets food spilled all over himself later on. The gang also studies languages so they can talk to each other, finally. Emil makes his best effort to be Lalli's Best Friend Ever to mixed results, meanwhile a series of misfortunes lead to Tuuri, their teammate who is Not Immune to troll disease getting bitten and consequently infected, which then leads her to commit suicide rather than succumb to a lifetime of diseased madness.

The team splits to go meet their pickup boat; Emil stays behind with Lalli for what should only be a few extra hours, but winds up being several days when they're attacked by a troll and stranded in the middle of a frozen lake. Lalli also magics himself too hard and so his soul, like... takes refuge in Emil's head, kind of... it sounds ridiculous because it is, but basically, Lalli rides shotgun in Emil's mindspace for the duration of this juncture while Emil hauls his body around the frozen wastes. Lalli wakes up again when they're cornered by dozens of hungry trolls, they barely escape, and they catch up with the others in time to go home instead of being left for dead for real. Yay!!

The crew is then in quarantine for a whole month, which means that for a month Emil sat in a glass box and somehow had to entertain himself. Terrible. When they reach Iceland they spend the summer with sort-of-teammate Reynir and his family, during which time Emil learns Finnish, kind of, and gets menaced by sheep. The team then sets off on a mission to find Lalli's cousin, who has gone off alone on a dangerous journey. They've reached Finland and mucked around for a while before finding said cousin, Onni, and are now off solving magic mysteries and hunting scary monsters some more at this canon point.

⬢ Personality: Never has a person been a work in progress more than Emil. Here's his Tragic Backstory(tm) in a few words: he was born rich and spoiled, and he's not rich anymore. That's it. Deep down he may be empathetic to a fault and ridiculously insecure, but his spoiled upbringing is the first- and often only- side of him people are going to see. He kind of deserves it; his first response to strangers is often total dismissal, where only what he wants to talk about matters and the other person might as well be anyone else to get the same response out of him. He's the kind of person who's terse and often rude to retail workers and service people-- on multiple occasions he's shoved his foot straight in his mouth saying something condescending about people working right next to him, or made demands of passerby like the little prince he isn't anymore. He's spoiled, in a nutshell; no one ever required Emil to grow up and so he never had to learn to be nice to people until very recently. As a result he comes off very often and pretty accurately as selfish and arrogant, dismissive of other people's feelings, just kind of a rich pretty boy brat... Some of this is real! A lot of it is how he was raised, however, and he's slowly having it squeezed out of him the more he screws up basic conversation with other human beings.

Despite all of that, Emil is deeply empathetic. He himself is a boiling pot of emotions who is ready to burst into messy tears, or vomit, or otherwise panic at the drop of a hat, and all of his feelings go out. He can't bottle any of it inside; sure, he can sulk, but mostly for attention— whatever he's feeling he's going to broadcast until someone acknowledges him and lets him talk about it. Kind of like a whiny child, but that's not inaccurate, ultimately. He complains, he's loud, he sulks more and more until someone will listen to him - Emil really does not appreciate not being acknowledged. He's a spoiled only child, so of course! - but this is also where his Huge Empathy Capacity begins. Emil can't be ignored and he can't ignore others either; he knows he would hate to be brushed aside when he's upset, so if he's invested enough in a person, he can and will try for days on end just to get close to them and try and fix what's wrong when they're upset. He's naturally inclined to take care of people he's close enough to, and he's good with children and animals! Even animals that want to kill him... It's a stated fact in canon that he's so empathetic that it's especially easy for psychic monsters to bend him to their will; Emil cannot do anything in moderation.

That said, getting down to his friendship layer takes considerable effort. He's spoiled, etc, yes, and he is also very insecure. If two people are talking and he's nearby he will assume it's about him and if he dwells on it long enough he may have to leave to cry in the nearest bathroom; it runs deep. This insecurity comes from being never told no as a child to suddenly being told no (and also that he was dumb as a rock) a whole lot when he abruptly had to attend Public School in his teens. He was a late starter in a society where children enlist in military service at 13, joining instead at 17 and having everything stacked against him: spoiled, immature, unduly full of himself, even overweight— he's been legitimately bullied and "those teachers are out to get me because they corrected me" bullied, internalized all of it, and come out with a shaky self image, to say the least. He tries.

So obviously these are his three biggest weaknesses that could launch him into a Jewel-obtaining arc: selfish, insecure, really high strung... But! He is a very warm-hearted person, when you get past the rest of the gauntlet to the gooey center. He's a loyal friend who, again, is naturally inclined toward caring for others even in small gestures like being sure a friend isn't alone or giving up his coat when they need it, etc. He's also dedicated to keeping his important people safe to the point that he carried his only friend's comatose body for miles and miles over the course of several days while fighting off monsters and hypothermia, so like, you know— he's ride or die. It's only making friends he has trouble with; once you can get through to him, you're pretty much stuck with him. He'll even put up with having soup thrown in his face for no reason, he's such a... good friend.

While Emil is not particularly talented in any one skill (and not in a jack of all trades, master of none way - he's just not very good at anything special), he does try hard. Setbacks are way backs for him, but when the chips are down he knows how to get his act together and do what he has to do without complaining. He also doesn't like to put up with undeserved nastiness from others, after he was the bottom of the food chain in the military; these days he'll meet rudeness he knows he didn't earn with the plain fact that he knows he's doing his job thank you very much. So he's got some earnestness and dedication to him, and the good judgment to know when the situation calls for a little less posh boy whining and a little more serious responding. He might still throw up from anxiety after a really dangerous incident, though. It varies.

Overall, Emil is... trying, in every sense of the word. He's aggravating, he's petulant, but he's also loyal and kind with a good head on his shoulders even if he doesn't think so a lot of the time. But he's not so far gone that his myriad personality problems are immutable, quite the opposite— his desperate need to feel accepted and well-liked means that he's acutely aware of when he's doing something wrong with other people, and he tries to do better. Poorly, most often, but at least he's clumsily trying to build his own character arc.

⬢ Powers: No supernatural abilities to speak of, but he is pretty good at blowing things (ie monsters) up with, like, dynamite. Canon has demonstrated that he's somewhat extra susceptible to other people's psychic powers, having absolutely zero mental defenses; his brain is an open door.

⬢ Inventory: Besides his first outfit he is carrying: A neon green umbrella, a pack of UNO cards that is at least 90 years old, a dart board set that is similarly at least 90 years old. Weapons: A knife, a couple tiny explosives.

⬢ Name: Ib
⬢ Canon: Ib
⬢ Canon Point: Post game; Promise of Reunion ending

⬢ History: Wiki!

⬢ Personality:

Ib is a quiet, polite, well behaved little girl. Even though she's only nine, her parents have no problem allowing her to explore an art gallery unsupervised. Her mother even says that they don't have to worry about her causing trouble for the other patrons. She's a curious child though, and talks to many of the other visitors to the gallery, asking questions about various paintings. And she asks Garry a barrage of questions every time they have a spare minute. Because of her age, she's still pretty innocent and gets confused when Garry won't explain the meanings of certain words to her. (They're dirty) And if Garry dies, she mistakenly thinks he is sleeping.

Ib is also a kind girl, and reaches out in friendship to both Garry and Mary without a second thought. And even after Mary is revealed as one of the paintings, even after she threatens Ib with a palette knife, Ib still worries about her. And Garry has to convince her to leave Mary behind. And when she meets Garry, she has to face the Lady in Blue to get his rose back, risking her life for a total stranger. When Garry is injured Ib even gives him her precious handkerchief, the one her mother gave her, to bandage his wound.

And despite her delicate appearance, Ib is a very brave girl. When she finds herself alone in the dark art gallery, she doesn't panic. Instead she investigates, going deeper and deeper in while trying to find her way out. This isn't to say she's not scared, but real courage is moving on despite fear. Which she does. She's clever too, solving a number of logic puzzles along the way. There are some puzzles that contain traps, and living painting and statues that hurt her, but still she continues on. And she has to go through a significant part of the gallery on her own. Even after Garry joins her, Ib is frequently the braver of the pair. More level headed too. She stops Garry whenever he gets frustrated and tries to kick one of the statues.

There are a few things that do break through her courage though. She is visibly disturbed when they find a portrait of her parents in the dark gallery, and passes out after narrowly escaping from an assault by multiple enemies at once. But with some encouragement from Garry, she pulls herself together and they keep going. She's also extremely upset if Garry fails to break out of the doll room, slapping him back to his senses then hugging him tightly when he snaps out of it. And, while she doesn't want to hurt Mary, she will burn her painting if backed into a corner.

⬢ Powers: No supernatural powers or special skills here. She's decently good at solving logic puzzles though.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Lalli Hotakainen
⬢ Canon: Stand Still Stay Silent
⬢ Canon Point: Adventure 2, Chapter 10

⬢ History: Ta-da! But since it ends a bit early (though not as early as Emil's, thank God): After Lalli, Emil, and Reynir pop out of Lalli's dream, the gang continues searching for Lalli's cousin, Onni, in the Finnish wilderness. They eventually find him in the ruins of a city—along with the spirit of Lalli's other cousin, Tuuri? Who is serving as Onni's guide? It's a little out there. Anyway, with the gang reunited, they turn their attention toward hunting down a dangerous Finnish spirit, which just so happens to be guarded by ferocious bear trolls. They're currently squatting in this ancient city as they attempt to figure out a way to deal with them...

⬢ Personality: My Felix app was long enough, closes my eyes @ myself... let's try bullet points this time!

RESILIENT: Over the course of the comic, Lalli has proven to be surprisingly adaptable. Don't get me wrong - he doesn't enjoy being thrust into unfamiliar environments and/or learning about strange new things, but rather than waste time complaining, he tends to just... roll with the punches. His cousin signs him up for an expedition into the highly dangerous silent world? He asks to go home, is told that he can't, and decides to tag along without further pushing the issue. The expedition requires both a day and a night scout, but the people in charge are too cheap to pay for an extra head? He works around the clock, even though it results in him running on little to no sleep. It may not be the healthiest way to deal with every little (or not-so-little) thing, but thanks to the, um, unfortunate state of his world, he's resigned to deal with whatever is thrown his way. When you grow up in an environment where it's common for entire villages to disappear overnight, you learn to expect the worst at all times... and just keep pressing forward.

LEVEL-HEADED: Lalli's world is fraught with danger, but when things get exceptionally bad, he can almost always be relied upon to keep his cool. Survival is key, you see, and he will do whatever it takes to ensure that both he and his team live to see another day. For example: When a very powerful spirit follows and attacks said team, Lalli pushes his easily flustered teammate to set up traps around the camp before attempting to use his own magic to keep the spirit at bay, even as it gets right up in his face and taunts him. Or how about that time he came out of a coma-like state to find both himself and a manic Emil trapped in a bathroom while a horde of hungry monsters tried to break down the door? As woozy as he was, Lalli still managed to find an exit, trick a much larger troll into acting as pest control, and find a safe place to hide until morning. Panic is a luxury he simply can't afford; even hesitating for a single second can cost him his life and/or the lives of his teammates, so he's learned to keep his emotions in check and do what needs to be done.

DETERMINED: Lalli is, above all else, a highly effective scout - and he takes a great deal of pride in his job. Honestly, serving as a scout is the only thing he does take pride in. When someone doubted that he was actually a mage, he shrugged them off and went about his day; when someone told him he failed as a scout, he puffed right up and told them that he would do whatever it took to prove them wrong, because Lalli is aware that his job is a very important one. People in his world depend on him to maneuver through the trickiest terrain, to map out safe routes while watching for—and occasionally dealing with—potential threats; he's essentially the first line of defense for both his team and his community, which is why, no matter how many hoops he's forced to jump through, he constantly pushes himself to do the best he can. Part of this is... the desire to be praised/to fit in, which will be touched on below, but his determination to succeed mainly revolves around the fact that people's lives are on the line. He's terrible with people as a whole, but he doesn't want anyone to die because of him; it's why he will get the job done! Always!

PROUD: Remember how I said that there's really only one thing (re: scouting) that Lalli takes pride in? Well. Lalli generally doesn't care what people think about him; he's used to being seen as the odd one/the outsider, but when it comes to his scouting abilities/a particular job that he's been entrusted with, Lalli absolutely craves recognition. The second that anyone doubts him and/or tells him that he's made some type of mistake, he goes from apathetic to straight-up desperate to prove them wrong. He doesn't make mistakes, you see! Other people have to realize this! He even dreams about people patting him on the back and telling him what a wonderful job he's done, which is why he'll do anything—including putting himself in risky situations and/or overusing his magic and knocking himself out cold for a few days—to prove that he's very, very good at whatever thing/job/task he's been given. Earning people's approval by being good at something, you see, is much easier than earning people's approval via other means, because Lalli is—

SOCIALLY AWKWARD: Let me be frank: Lalli is astonishingly bad with other people. He's spent at least six years serving as a night scout, meaning that he's used to sleeping during the day (i.e. when most people are active) and running about the forest at night; he's never really had to interact with many people, aside from his direct superior and his two (2) family members, so the social norms that govern others? He really has no idea what they are, much less why he should abide by them, which results in him doing weird things like hissing at annoying children, or stealing people's food right off their plates, or giving one-word answers to even the most complex questions. It's bad!

What makes it even worse, however, is that, because he's spent so much time on his own, his emotional maturity has also been stunted. Kids learn to express their frustrations in healthy ways by observing those around them, or by, you know, being told that yelling at other people is B-A-D; Lalli, however, has been isolated for so long—thanks to living in a tiny military base since he was eight—that he rarely thinks about things before he just... does them. I think the perfect example of this is when, upon waking from a week or so spent in a coma-like state, he expects his teammates to praise him for the amazing job he did before he passed out. They don't, of course; they had their own things to deal with while he was snoozing in the back of their tank, but rather than convey his frustrations in a normal, healthy way, he sulks by himself... and then calmly upends a bowl of very hot soup into the face of one of his teammates. It's petty, it's childish, but to Lalli, it was the simplest, most effective way to express exactly how he was feeling.

Temper-tantrums aside, though, here's the thing: there's a part of Lalli that really does want to fit in with the people around him? The problem is that he selfishly expects others to meet him in his comfort zone instead of, you know, actually putting himself out there. This is something he's slowly realizing, thanks to help of his aforementioned (patient) friend, but it's something he will honestly have to start actively working on if he finds himself in a strange new land where language barriers aren't a Thing. Opening up to new people—learning to trust them—will be an incredibly difficult challenge for him, but making new friends is much better than making new enemies...

IGNORANT: One of the worst things about growing up in a post-apocalyptic world is that education just... falls to the wayside? Day-to-day survival is way more important than learning about who did what back in the good ol' days, which is why Lalli knows almost nothing about how the world actually works. In many ways, he's sheltered; moving from a small village to a military base when he was, like, eight years old means that he only really knows a) mage skills handed down to him via his more experienced family members and b) how to SCOUT. Horses? What are those? Lalli sees them for the first time and calls them "weird, ugly moose." Maps are flat? That obviously means that the earth is flat, too. Most of the time his lack of knowledge is rather funny - and he doesn't really care that he knows so little about things, but it still serves as a sort of wedge that's been driven between Lalli and the rest of the world. It's hard to relate to others when you have no idea what they're talking about/where they're coming from!

⬢ Powers: As a (Finnish) mage, Lalli has access to some neat—and fairly specific—abilities... which are all very confusing. I'm going to link a few examples to keep this as concise as possible, so please bear with me! I will also happily nerf things as needed!

  • Lalli is able to see/hear the spirits of people/things around him, as his cousin—a much more experienced mage—briefly mentions here. It seems like a pretty benign thing, but if the spirits have been corrupted in some way, it... isn't exactly a pleasant experience? Spirits trapped inside Trolls/Beasts frequently attempt to lure mages close enough to kill them, and they are both very loud and very persuasive; they can overpower a weaker mage and force them to walk right to their deaths, which is why Lalli has spent years strengthening his mental defenses.
  • As we're told in the comic, "Finnish mages posses the ability [to] control elements of nature" by reciting a runo. These are essentially pleas for certain spirits/deities/elements to assist a mage in various ways, i.e. asking the moon goddess to break out some moonlight, or telling loud spirits to shut up before they catch these hands. He won't be able to use this in the game, thanks to being faaaaar away from the spirits/deities he's used to, but it's an important ability to mention.
  • Along with spells, Finnish mages are also able to help guide spirits to the afterlife. Helping human souls is a very tricky thing; mages need to know more about the human and/or their past life to guide them along, and corrupted human souls rarely remember anything. Animal souls, however, are easier to guide along! By placing the skull of a corrupted beast on top of a specific tree (a kallohonka), Finnish mages can ensure that the soul will pass on free of corruption.
  • Finns each have a Luonto, aka "an outer being that follows and protects its human throughout life." The best info can be found here, but for game purposes: Lalli's Luonto—a lynx—is essentially a summon he can use to attack and/or defend, but as it requires a great deal of effort to summon, he rarely relies upon it. It's more of a last-ditch effort type of thing? Like, when he had to check a hundred or so troll nests at once to see if they would pose a threat to his teammates, he called upon his Luonto to knock them all out in one fell swoop... but that resulted in a) a rather intense nosebleed and b) Lalli spending several days in a coma-like state. Not fun at all.
  • When Lalli overexerts himself, or simply falls asleep, his consciousness slips into what's known as the dreamscape. It's essentially like having an incredibly intense lucid dream? He "wakes" up in his personal dream (seen here) and can essentially do whatever he pleases within his personal dream. He can even leave his personal dream and attempt to enter the dreams of others, but as a Finnish mage, he can't just barge into them; he needs to be invited inside. Leaving his own personal dream is also a very dangerous endeavor! Different dreams are separated by a wide body of water, and corrupted spirits are always on the hunt for unsuspecting mages. Inside the dreamscape, though, Lalli can defend himself in ways he can't in the waking world, like cat bombing his way to freedom or flying to safety. Will he ever willingly leave his own dream in this game? No, because physical distance seemingly affects dream distance! The mages he knows are currently out of reach, except for one important exception...
  • ...Which is Emil! Emil isn't even a mage, but after Lalli spent a good chunk of time trapped inside his mind, they can actually share dreams. It's almost like they've forged some type of psychic bond, because the dream-sharing thing seems to happen when they really need and/or want to communicate with one another? It's not a perfect process; the dreams they share tend to get rather wonky (i.e. ducks popping up on people's backs, birds swimming through the water like fish), and any sort of friction between them causes the dream to end, but it's still a Thing that happens.
  • This isn't a power, per se, but Lalli is a scout—and he's very good at what he does. He's used to running throughout the night, watching out for dangerous creatures as he searches for safe places and safe paths. His endurance is incredible, and his memory isn't too shabby, either; he never carries a map with him, but he still manages to easily recall alternate routes and various points of interest.
⬢ Inventory:
  • For the cabinet of curiosities: his hunting rifle + the knife he carries at his hip.
  • An ancient, battered Rubik's Cube™
  • An ancient, bright yellow umbrella...
  • His spare outfit: Dream Attire
  • Cool Shirts: 1 and 2

Character Info
⬢ Name: Azula
⬢ Canon: Avatar: The Last Airbender
⬢ Canon Point: From the end of "The Search" comic series.

⬢ History: https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Azula#History

⬢ Personality:
Azula is largely the product of her abusive home life and family situation. Ambition and perfection was praised while things like empathy and sympathy were considered weaknesses. Her father wanted her to be the perfect weapon and so she pushed herself constantly to be what he expected of her. Even at the cost of her own emotional needs. And after her mother vanished leaving Azula only with memories of her disappointment and scorn, the Princess grew up believing that she was a monster, but a monster that was better then everyone else and they should know it.

Over the series we see Azula as a cold calculating perfectionist, perfectly comfortable with not only commanding soldiers and citizens alike without shame or compassion. She threatens them with death for failing to meet her high standards and even at one point manipulates a secret police force into arresting their former leader and installing her as the new ruler. When Azula is on her A game she is several steps ahead of her enemies and will savor rubbing their humiliation in their face when it's over.

There is another side to Azula though, for as confident as she is there is an insecure part of her that festers over time, blooming into a full on paranoia and anxiety complex. Her failure at the hands of her brother and a Water Tribe peasant was a crushing blow to her already fractured ego, but the real damage began when her two best friends betrayed her.

Azula had when she was very young become friends with two incredibly talented and dangerous girls. Their friendship was years of bullying and unhealthy behaviors, but it was the closest thing to real friendship she'd ever known. Unfortunately due to her own meddling and manipulations her friend Mai fell in love with Azula's brother Zuko. And so when the time came for Azula to demand Mai betray Zuko and kill him, Mai betrayed Azula. And when Azula tried to punish Mai (possibly kill her?) Ty Lee betrayed Azula leaving her helpless and furious on the ground. She had the two of them arrested promptly.

That began Azula's spiral into madness. Hallucinations, paranoia over being betrayed, erratic mood swings. The more pressure built on her the worse it got culminating into a massive emotional breakdown and her defeat. After that she was able to start building herself back up, struggling to find coping mechanisms for a life where she had to acknowledge she is flawed. She is imperfect and she has to find a new purpose.

⬢ Powers:
Fire Bending: Azula like many others in her world has the ability to create and manipulate fire. Unlike most people however Azula is particularly skilled and powerful at it. Aside from being able to produce massive amounts of it, her flames are also noted for being blue rather then orange or red like most Firebenders in her world. It is speculated this is because her flames are somehow more pure. (Probably just aesthetic though.) She can produce fire from her hands, feet and even her mouth.

Lightning (Bending?): Azula has studied and practiced her Firebending to such a degree she is able to produce and manipulate lightning as well. The technique is considered very volatile and dangerous even to attempt and in theory can only be done by someone who is extremely skilled and precise...although Azula has shown to be able to do it even when she is having a sort of emotional breakdown.

Martial Arts: Naturally athletic Azula was trained in combat by some of the best tutors and mentors the Fire Nation Royal Family could afford. Azula has been shown to hold her own in unarmed combat without the use of her bending even if it is her preferred method of destruction.

⬢ Inventory:
At the time she was pulled from canon Azula was wearing some high quality traveling clothes in the fire nations various shades of red and hints of gold detailing. This came complete with a sash for her waist, black leather armbands, leg wraps and shoes of equal quality.

She left in such a hurry she doesn't have anything else on her person save for some simple red silk ribbons to tie her hair up when needed.

Her other outfit is a Lighter more summer fun sort of look. Complete with necklace, armband and accessories made of real gold and quality materials.

As for shirts from the library she can have 1 and 3 please.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Vidar (Gaelio Bauduin)
⬢ Canon: Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans
⬢ Canon Point: S2E17

⬢ History: LINK covers his time from Gaelio Bauduin (P.D. 323) to Vidar (P.D. 325 onwards).

⬢ Personality: Official records say that following the death of Specialist Major Gaelio Bauduin during an intense battle in the outskirts of Edmonton against Tekkadan forces and allies, his body was retrieved by Gjallarhorn forces, cremated, and buried in the Seven Stars cemetery. The noble Kimaris Trooper, his Gundam, was reportedly returned to the Bauduin vault after that.

Official records also lie, because Gaelio Bauduin is very much alive. For the next two years following his death and betrayal, Gaelio throws away his name and familial connections, with the whole world believing him to be dead anyway, and takes on the name of his overhauled mobile suit, Gundam Vidar. This is when things get complicated.

Two things define Vidar’s will to live, or lack of it, depending on who's asking:

RULE OF LAW. Vidar believes in upholding order and stability -- on his own terms. In contrast to his more easy-going personality as Gaelio Bauduin, who can laugh at instances of corruption even as he loathes it, Vidar allies himself with the most powerful display of order in the show, which is with Gjallarhorn, and specifically the Arianrhod fleet, an elite moon-based unit tasked with intercepting any threats to the Earth, led by Rustal Elion. He’s not looking for a revolution, he’s looking for disruptions to the status quo and helping to eliminate them. In this canon, that’d be Tekkadan working under Mcgillis Fareed. Prioritizing his duties to Gjallarhorn allows him to use his role as a form of atonement for not being able to prevent the deaths of his friends and the descent of Mcgillis Fareed into madness. As Vidar, he takes his role seriously in mentoring fellow pilots and advising his superiors and colleagues about risks and threats to operations, removing his ego from the scenario by not taking credit for his sound advice; but also hiding his identity so that he can ascertain Mcgillis' primary reasons for betraying him, which leads us to his quest for --

VENGEANCE. Two years of getting used to his new pseudonym and taking on the name of his highly improved Gundam, while working for the Arianrhod fleet, all culminate in his experience to stop one man: Mcgillis Fareed. Vidar regards Mcgillis with such bitterness. He looked up to him in his childhood and had always sought the attention and company of Mcgillis throughout their lives. Their respective families even have a close relationship. But Gaelio ended up as a pawn to Mcgillis’ plans, along with Ein, his subordinate, and Carta, a beloved friend who was also in love with Mcgillis. His purpose and motivation in the latter half of the show is tied with his need to understand why Mcgillis had gone to such lengths for his objectives, and possibly dying in the process, because Gaelio himself doesn't believe he has any other future beyond defeating Mcgillis in the kind of strength he believes in.

Gaelio Bauduin, as a friend, is loyal to Mcgillis Fareed. Vidar is also loyal, in his way, in that he dedicates his entire life just so that he can make Mcgillis regret having ever betrayed his loyalty to begin with, when it was already freely given before he was killed. That single-minded affection for such a man he looked up to turns into a bitter obsession, to the point that Gaelio can no longer conceive of a future beyond dying with Mcgillis, as he believes it is too late to save him from his addiction to power.

MCGILLIS FAREED. His emotions regarding Mcgillis Fareed are complicated. A lot of the negative emotions in his life are more readily expressed usually in the presence of Mcgillis. But despite his rage and anger, what Vidar wants is to understand him and his objectives. If need be, he is ready to forgive him. Should his objectives prove to be dangerous to the peace and order of Gjallarhorn, however, Vidar is more than ready to fight him and reclaim his name. He has a certain fierce affection for Mcgillis that he can’t quite let go of, despite easily letting go of his own identity to claim another for the sake of revenge. Haunted by the deaths of Ein and Carta, Vidar never hesitates to remind Mcgillis of the price of his goals, whether he wants to listen or not. In truth, what Vidar wants is the rather childish hope that Mcgillis could acknowledge him as a friend and equal; failing that, he will stop him and die in the process with him.

In general, Vidar’s personality is a reactionary method of dealing with the failure that he was as Gaelio Bauduin, Specialist Major, tormented leader, and friend. In contrast to who he was as Gaelio, Vidar is quiet and reclusive. He intimidates people with his mask, which often serves as a physical guard towards his emotions and thoughts. He utilizes his silence effectively in conversations. He prefers to be in the background, even going as far as wearing a generic Gjallarhorn uniform. And while Vidar can be genial, he prefers honesty and straightforwardness as opposed to schemes and manoeuvres. He values his allies, and respects his superior. He can extend that same respect in the battlefield to his enemies.

Vidar is serious about his work and even more serious about his need to get stronger: He commits to the Alaya-Vijnana surgery and upgrades his Gundam Vidar to a behemoth that can fight the main protagonist’s Gundam at full power, likely because Mcgillis mentioned that the protagonist was the better pilot. All of this happened despite the fact that Gaelio would have been horrified and would never have consented to the surgery, or using his subordinate as part of the OS for his Gundam frame in the beginning. As Vidar, he now views all of these things as necessary tools in order to be able to maintain his strength and power — above the allies that Mcgillis chose for himself, and to exceed the strength of his that killed him in Edmonton. The pride that Gaelio has as a Bauduin is, as Vidar, transferred in his newfound belief in relying in raw power to make Mcgillis Fareed heel and to subjugate Tekkadan as they disrupt the rule of law. For Vidar, who is normally mild-mannered in his interactions, this manifests in a ferocious display in the battlefield. What he lacks for technical skill he makes up in sheer strength and experience: when words fail, Vidar is never afraid to make a point using his fists, or his Gundam. Whatever it takes.

⬢ Powers: Vidar is a regular human, other than the modification he's had for his Gundam, which is specific to the mobile suit anyway. He’s proficient with handguns, has military training, and he can drive a car.

⬢ Inventory: GJALLARHORN UNIFORM AND MASK, handgun, library shirts 1 and 2. A second outfit for him can just be a turtleneck (black) and trousers (black) with polished shoes (also black).
