⬢ Personality:
"I’ll become a committed man, just like a card soldier. That’s what I made up my mind to do."

Determined to become an honor student, Deuce initially is recognized for his staunchly serious attitude. He approaches his school life with this goal in mind and no small measure of determination goes behind it. At times he comes across as stiff, or even humorless, putting far too much weight behind matters which may seem mundane or trivial to others. This can easily set him up as being an obstinate individual in his own way, though mages are known as creatures of surpassing stubbornness and uncooperative nature.

The reasoning behind this determination, however, is that Deuce is an incredibly earnest and sincere individual. Driven to make his mother proud after the grief he put her through as a delinquent in middle-school, Deuce will do anything in his capacity to make her proud. At the same time, he dreads the thought of disappointing or hurting her with his behavior ever again. This has, in fact, been used to twist his arm before. These motivations are what compel Deuce to do his utmost to turn his life around and excel even if by sheer force of will alone.

In this, Deuce demonstrates his true colors. Unlike many of the students around him, Deuce has already lived the experience that has made him want to shape up and become a better person. His capacity for guilt and empathy stand out in a school full of people whose self-interests and personal concerns can and will be at the forefront. Particularly when someone is in emotional pain or distress, Deuce is often moved by concern and quick to apologize or soften his stance toward those individuals... Though the same can't be said of physical altercations.

Despite his determination to move away from the delinquent life, old habits die hard. At the end of the day, Deuce has a hair-trigger temper and his first instinct is to talk with his fists when provoked, threatened, or offended. Ace's ease in setting Deuce off goes to show how incredibly easy it is it achieve. Following incidents like this though, Deuce is frequently embarrassed to have lost his temper. What makes matters worse is that, even if Deuce isn't angry and just feels cornered, he doesn't have the good sense to recognize when he ought to back down. When he thought Malleus Draconia, one of the most powerful mages in the world, had a bone to pick with him, Deuce recognized he was outmatched and was still determined to fight him like a man.

While he may struggle with his reflexive combativeness, Deuce really does want to change. He may not always know how to achieve that, but he's doing his best. That's because beneath the short temper and serious determination, he's an honest and earnest soul. When shown kindness or given help, Deuce is pleasantly surprised and shows sincere gratitude. Professor Crewel assigns him supplemental lessons to catch him up? Others see it as a penalty, but Deuce is delighted. He grows excited when his efforts yield positive results, and rather than envy those who excel beyond him, he admires their strength and ability and finds it inspiring.

Sometimes, that straightforward, direct nature can get the better of him. Honest to a fault as he can be, unable to keep up a ruse to save his own skin, Deuce readily places a little too much trust in his elders. He'll often take others at their word, or mistake a blithe or sarcastic comment as genuine advice. Between this and being behind in his education from his delinquent years, Deuce is an easy mark for deceit. But he has recognized that, and he isn't discouraged... He's just a little disillusioned to learn not all eggs can become chicks. That said, won't be duped when something goes against his personal experiences. Trey claiming oyster sauce is the secret ingredient in tarts? He's not buying that — because he buys groceries with his mom.

As is the case with most mages by their very nature, Deuce did have an prideful resistance toward cooperation and a leaning toward serving his own personal interests. Those interests have from the onset included making his mom proud of him, but during the main story, Deuce has often been motivated by his own goals and desires. He and his classmate Ace will mutually deny the benefits of cooperating with one another, and he will take up causes because there's something he wants.

Over the course of his first semester at Night Raven College, however, it's clear that something has changed for Deuce. It's not just his goals and interests that compel him, but also the first friendships that he has forged in his young life. When he thinks that the protagonist Yuu is in danger during winter break, he makes the arduous trip to go and rescue them. Just...well. When he arrives and everything is already resolved, he puts it off as something he was obliged to do, since he did say to call if they needed anything. No big deal. Mages are idiots like this.

⬢ Powers:
In Twisted Wonderland, magic functions primarily on the imagination and magical faculties of the individual. The better a mage is at conceptualizing what he wants to conjure, the more pliable their magic will be. Mages each have their own individual capacities for spellcasting, and therefore limitations are individual, but they are capable of growth and improvement within that framework. There are also drawbacks to the use of considerable magical power, in particular, a byproduct known as blot.

Blot is described as being a waste product similar to exhaust from burning fuel. The more that a mage exerts their magical faculties, the more blot they build up. To mitigate this ill effect and help direct spells, practitioners of magic utilize magical pens, which take on some of the blot for them. The progression of this blot is indicated by the stone atop the pen. It will show blemishes as blot is accrued, which will clear away with time and rest. If an individual over-exerts themselves however, they can enter a berserk state called overblot, changing form and losing self-control.

This is, according to Crowley, virtually impossible for one Deuce Spade. He (along with his classmate Ace) is described as having so little mana at his disposal that it would be nigh impossible to generate a significant amount of blot. Deuce is more of a budding talent than his seniors at Night Raven College, selected for his potential rather than his present prowess. He's capable of casting spells, but even novice magic like changing the color of objects remains a challenge for him to master.

Like other students, Deuce has access to several forms of elemental magic. He can conjure balls of fire, jets of water, and gusts of wind. Like other students, he also has access to void magic, and as is the same for the majority of other students, this means he can cast dark-element spells as well. In all cases, these spells are shown as small, concentrated bursts of each element where standard attacks are concerned. They aren't highly potent or damaging unless used at elemental advantage, for instance water cast against someone wielding fire.

Students are also capable of casting duo magic with others, seemingly contingent upon their bonds or capacity or teamwork. In Deuce's case, he is thus far capable of using duo magic with Ace. This comes as working in concert to attack an opponent, and as gameplay goes, having Ace's support allows Deuce to attack three times consecutively with water spells, rather than a maximum of twice, when the duo magic is executed. While students may also perfect unique magic, a potent spell or ability only they possess, Deuce is still a novice and has not yet learned such magic.

Deuce does, however, have a particular inclination toward conjuring large, heavy crockery to pummel foes with. Specifically, he summons the largest, heaviest thing he can think of: a sizable black cauldron. Based on the proportionately huge cauldron in the Alchemy classroom, it stands to reason that one really doesn't want Deuce dropping one of these hefty objects on them. He tends to resort to this magic before any other spells when threatened...or if Ace annoys him just that much.

Beyond this, Deuce is physically swifter and stronger than would be expected for his size and age. While some of this may be attributed to his background as an ex-delinquent who frequently got into fights, it's notable that his strength exceeds what is reasonable for his stature. When older Savanaclaw students picked a fight with Deuce, they were notably alarmed by the strength of his grip and being unable to wrench free of it until he let go. He's also capable of keeping up with Jack Howl in a brawl, despite the difference in their size and musculature.

Having taken a place on the track team, Deuce is also a swift runner. He's able to compete with Jack in this arena too, and is noted for training until he exhausts himself. Aside from raw athleticism, Deuce is a capable hand-to-hand combatant and is more inclined toward resorting to fisticuffs than relying on his magic in an altercation, instinctively playing to his own strengths where many others far outstrip him in the magic department as a first-year student.

He also just so happens to be a veteran bargain-shopper and quite handy with machinery, owing to being the young man of the house living with his single mom.

⬢ Name: V
⬢ Canon: Devil May Cry 5
⬢ Canon Point: Pursuing Urizen down into the Qliphoth

⬢ History: Wiki

⬢ Personality:
DRIVEN V's willpower is his most valuable trait in the storyline. He is able to convince three separate demons to join forces with him on a suicide mission. They all come to the mutual agreement that while they may be ephemeral beings, they want to make their time in this world count. With no experience and no resources but the drive to stop the world being destroyed, V manages to get together the cash to recruit Dante, fools his own twin brother about who he is, and convinces Nero to leave the hospital after losing an arm to join them on their mission. He finds the Sparda on his own, figures out how to awaken Dante with it, and also drags himself through every hurdle to make it all the way back to Vergil. All these acts come from someone that was born as cast off dregs and meant to die. He is opposed to just lying down and dying, and incisively plans the way forward with every tool he can get his hands on.

ARROGANT This is a trait inherited from Vergil. V often has to hide his real thoughts and attitudes, but his arrogance comes out openly in battle. The lowly demons that he battles bring out his cruelest and most vicious aspects. He is a ruthless tactician and spends all battles loitering in the background while his familiars do all the work. He taunts enemies by laughing at them, turning his back on them, sometimes even dancing or playing the air violin. Once a demon is weakened, he personally and eagerly provides all the killing blows. You can also see a touch of his arrogance in his interactions He is definitely the most intelligent member of the main DMC5 characters. It shows in some of his sarcasm, his pointed lack of comment, and definitely his liberal application of poetry quotations that no one else knows, cares about, or can follow.

MYSTERIOUS V keeps everything very close to the chest. Combine a careful poker face and some casual arrogance and that's how he bluffs his way through every situation; regardless of how scared or nervous he might be. His secretiveness has practical application in that it allows him to manipulate the DMC team. He gives away just enough information to distract everyone from asking any extra questions. It is easiest to control the situation when he's the only one with a full vantage point. Still, he also wouldn't know what to tell anyone about himself, even if they did ask. He hasn't existed long enough to have much of his own, and he's able to disguise this discomfort with an air of mystery.

VULNERABLE Vergil is a paragon of repression and intractability. He took those traits with him to become Urizen, and what they left behind for V were all 'weak' emotions. More than just the emotions, however, is V's willingness to express them. He tells Trish openly that he hoped that by enlisting Dante, the wrong he had committed could be righted. He bonds with Nero, he bonds with the familiars. He knows he can't do any of this alone, and in the grander scheme that he never could. The trade-off of opening up has always been that you're then more vulnerable to hurt, disappointment, etc. V still gets very little taste of these things in game, they remain new. But by definition of what he isn't, he must challenge himself to face them when they come. The one taste of this V does get is how he builds bond with the familiars even though they each represent something from Vergil's traumatic memories. In order to join with their powers, V had to face those memories and make them a strength rather than a torment. If Urizen is intractability, then V must be the one who can learn from the mistakes of the past.

BRITTLE He wasn't meant to live on as a separate entity. He was meant to disintegrate and die. He is aware of the physical and emotional pains of his incomplete creation. Physically, his body is weak/ill and actively breaking down around him. Emotionally, he was disdained and rejected by Vergil for so many years, before being removed entirely. He knows he is unwanted. Often, V has a smirking sense of humor about his own weaknesses, the gallows humor of the dying. These smirks contribute to his arrogant and mysterious outer presentation. But just like Vergil, he is filled with pain on the inside. Sometimes, that pain and bitterness comes out. He sneers at a picture of their mother Eva, he tells Griffon that his childhood memories bring bitterness, and he definitely tries to stab Dante in the face with the Sparda, which he can barely wield.

ROMANTIC Unlike Dante, Vergil has always valued intellect, but he always used this as a tool to pursue power and never let it be a goal in and of itself. V inherited his book of William Blake poetry, which has some extremely relevant and specific themes. (I'm going to torture you with a couple quotes, sorry:)
"[...] While the early Blake focused on a "sheer negative opposition between Energy and Reason", the later Blake emphasised the notions of self-sacrifice and forgiveness as the road to interior wholeness. This renunciation of the sharper dualism of Marriage of Heaven and Hell is evidenced in particular by the humanisation of the character of Urizen in the later works."

"One of Blake's strongest objections to orthodox Christianity is that he felt it encouraged the suppression of natural desires and discouraged earthly joy."

"Men are admitted into Heaven not because they have curbed and governd their Passions or have No Passions but because they have Cultivated their Understandings. The Treasures of Heaven are not Negations of Passion but Realities of Intellect from which All the Passions Emanate Uncurbed in their Eternal Glory."
This is a body of work that V spends extensive time in contemplation with. As above, William Blake outlines passion, creativity, intellect, self-sacrifice, and forgiveness as the true path to wholeness. I have outlined almost all of those items in the above sections. All that's really left is to embrace creativity above ambition. He needs to allow himself to love poetry and prose for its own sake. This idea is cemented when Vergil gives the beloved book of poems to Nero, a gesture of its importance and what he's learned from V after he lived out those ideals. Vergil even says thank you on V's behalf, for the kindness that Nero showed him.

⬢ Powers:
* The nightmare versions of three demons are a part of him as his familiars. He uses them as various mobility aides and as his main attack to deplete enemies before he can successfully kill them with his cane.

* Shadow and Griffon can't kill anything themselves, Griffon thinks it is because they are from Vergil's memories, not the original demons themselves. Apparently, Nightmare is simply more powerful.

* Griffon - Big bird. Lightning and ranged attack, can carry V around and help him dodge quickly. Contract associated to the tattoos on his upper arms and chest.
* Shadow - Shapeshifter. Often a big cat. Malleable physical attacks, can be ridden on like a scooter and help him dodge or increase movement speed. Contract associated to the tattoos on the back of his shoulders and stomach.
* Nightmare - Big golem. Big laser attacks and haymaker punches, can also be ridden on. V can only maintain Nightmare for a limited amount of time, if he pushes too hard it actually knocks him out. Contract is ALL THE REST OF THE TATTOOS. Turns V's hair back to white when he's summoned.

* V's cane is also imbued with demonic energy and he can do a few cool ranged magic attacks with it on his own. Can teleport short distances in order to do finisher moves on demons. [ Moveset ]

* Frequency: DMC functions on a DT, you have a certain amount of it you can use before you have to replenish it. V replenishes by reading poetry/concentrating.

* Secondary replenishment: "Upon finishing demons off, V seems to use his cane to absorb the power of defeated demons, enhancing the strengths of his familiars with it." [ X ]

* With V, you can either use all of the DT for a big attack, such as summoning Nightmare for a bit, or using his cane to perform magic attacks. It can also be used in spurts to empower Shadow & Griffon for a period of time.

⬢ Inventory:
* V's Cane
* A brown, gold-embroidered book, containing poems by William Blake, with a large "V" insignia in the cover.
* Handful of change for the pay phone.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Felix Hugo Fraldarius
⬢ Canon: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
⬢ Canon Point: Chapter 22! Post-game, Pre-epilogues - aka directly after the final battle of Azure Moon

⬢ History: Felix's Background + Role | Overall Game Synopsis | Azure Moon Timeline

In the run I'm pulling Felix from, his professor (Byleth) was female, and the only students recruited into the Blue Lions house were Yuri, Hapi, Constance, and Balthus from the Cindered Shadows DLC.

⬢ Personality:

Honestly, as far as first impressions go? Felix... doesn't go out of his way to make a good one, because he generally doesn't care what others think of him. He's cynical! He's brusque! He has no problem telling others exactly what he thinks of them/their plans/their opinions, and his approach is often less than polite! In short, he's a prickly man who prefers to keep others at an arm's length—and there's a fairly good reason for this, but in order to understand it, let's jump back to Felix's childhood and trace his emotional growth through the years.

Felix was the second son born into the prestigious Fraldarius family. His father was the king's right-hand advisor; his older brother, Glenn, was a rude, almost brash individual whom others lauded as the ideal knight. Felix, in contrast, was known to be a sensitive, emotional child—and a bit of a crybaby, if you ask his childhood friends. "Whenever there was something wrong... you'd come crying to me," Sylvain teases Felix years down the line. "You were so meek and pure back then. Cute, even! Like a baby brother."

This is never presented as a problem; all three of his closest friends—Sylvain, Ingrid, and Dimitri—accepted him as he was, and he presumably had a fairly close relationship with his brother? He mentions his brother reading tales of chivalry to him "all the time," after all, and he certainly looked up to him. Growing up in the highly traditional society of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, where children are taught to fight and to aspire to chivalric ideals from a very early age, it makes sense that Glenn, the Ideal Knight™ that everyone so admired, seemed an untouchable hero plucked from one of Felix's storybooks.

And then Glenn died.

Losing a brother is, without a doubt, a difficult ordeal for anyone; for thirteen-year-old Felix, however, losing his brother was... far more complicated than it had any right to be. For one thing, Felix went from being the spare to the heir—and all of that responsibility, all of those expectations that Glenn shouldered so beautifully? Everything came crashing down on him, and that was quite the burden for a young boy to bear. Add to that, then, the fact that Glenn, already a larger-than-life figure for Felix and his friends, became a sort of inescapable shadow that touched almost everything Felix knew and loved, and—well. Because Glenn died while defending Dimitri, Felix's childhood friend who looked up to Glenn just as much as Felix did, and because Glenn's beloved fiance was none other than Ingrid, Felix's other childhood friend, Felix's friendships were no longer his own; they changed forever, because of course Dimitri, Ingrid, and everyone else who knew and loved Glenn still saw Glenn whenever they looked at Felix. He was—and is—constantly compared to his brother.

Then there's also the fact that, while Felix mourned the loss of Glenn the person, everyone around him mourned the loss of Glenn the knight—and that meant that they didn't seem to mourn him at all? His own father, when presented Glenn's charred armor, looked at all that remained of his firstborn son and said, simply, "He died like a true knight." In Felix's opinion, there was no genuine sadness that Glenn was gone; there was only a sort of sick pride that Glenn died in the correct manner: by defending the king, his son, and other members of the royal retinue. Felix missing his brother, Felix feeling sad, Felix being anything other than openly proud of Glenn's sacrifice—that was unacceptable, by Faerghus standards.

What did Felix do, then? Felix chafed against those ideals of chivalry he'd once so admired, directing all of his frustration and anger at them. "Chivalry begets the worship and glorification of death," he explains. "Am I alone in finding that grotesque?" Life shouldn't be about putting yourself into harm's way without a second thought, all in the pursuit of the perfect, heroic death; life should be about living, and for that purpose, Felix threw himself into his training, dedicating himself to becoming stronger than anyone and everyone. If he is the strongest, you see, then no one can challenge him—and no one can sacrifice their life for him, because after losing Glenn—and his father, really, thanks to how disgusted he is with his father's response to Glenn's death—Felix refuses to lose anyone else. Felix is scared of losing anyone else.

Rather than openly express this to the people closest to him, though... well! Look at it this way: we have one angry, sad boy who's told time and time again that he's to stoically endure the loss of his brother. Is it any wonder that Felix decided the smart strategy was to hide his emotions? To create a sort of wall between himself and others by projecting a cold, callous attitude not unlike the one his brother was known for? Pushing people away was, and is, safer than forming an attachment to someone before he's strong enough to ensure his own survival and/or see if they're strong enough to ensure theirs. Strength became... everything, to Felix! It's why he still frequently challenges people (re: Byleth) to spar with him within the first, like, ten minutes of meeting them. Better to know then and there if they're worth his time... better to push them away before a bond forms...

The problem with this approach, however, is that, despite Felix's best attempts to distance himself, it's impossible for him to not care for his friends/allies/anyone who spends a good deal of time around him? Glenn's death prompted him to build a metaphorical wall around himself, but he's still that same emotional boy at heart; he feels things just as deeply as he did when he was young, and I think the best evidence of this can be found in his relationship with one of his childhood friends: Dimitri, the very prince of Faerghus that Glenn died to protect. Felix and Dimitri were incredibly close when they were younger; there's a later line when Dimitri recalls how Felix "used to whine unless [he] could do everything with [him]," and that friendship persisted even after Dimitri witnessed Glenn's death. Dimitri was assuredly one of the people Felix was thinking of when Felix made the decision to become stronger so no one would have to make that same sacrifice for him.

And then, two years after Glenn's death, Dimitri died.

Or, well. The Dimitri that Felix knew died, right in front of him, as Felix watched Dimitri lose his mind while brutally, excitedly executing members of a rebellion. As Felix tells Dimitri at a later time: "It was ruthless slaughter and you loved every second. I remember the way you killed your victims. How you watched them suffer. And your face... that expression. All the world's evil packed into it. That was our first battle. I remember it vividly."

Obviously, seeing this new, highly unpleasant side of Dimitri was a terrible shock. So this is one of the people he's been growing stronger for, all in the hopes of keeping them alive? This is the person his brother died for, the person his father dedicates more and more time to? It's a betrayal of the highest order—and that's when bitterness mixes with all of that anger and sadness he was still holding within him. He pushed Dimitri away; he began openly treating Dimitri with scorn and derision; he mocked Dimitri at every opportunity, calling him a wild beast, a boar, a thoughtless animal. He did his best to close himself off from this person entirely, and in doing so, he built that metaphorical wall between himself and others even higher. He didn't need any more friends, you see. No more crushing disappointments allowed.

And yet! And yet! Despite his disgust with/for Dimitri, Felix didn't shy away from him; he spent years calling Dimitri out to his face, telling him that, while he could play the part of the perfect prince if he liked, he needed to address the brutal nature he was trying so hard to mask. Felix was the only person to notice this about Dimitri? He was alone for years and years and years, and when others finally did catch onto Dimitri's deteriorating mental state, Felix continued throwing barbs at the prince—but he also warned their professor to keep a close eye on him. He was, in his rude way, always looking out for his childhood buddy, because again: it's impossible for Felix not to care.

This is really taken to the next level when the continent of Fódlan sinks into war—and Dimitri was supposedly executed. Felix didn't believe this; in fact, Felix spent the next five years both fighting for his kingdom and looking for Dimitri, and when he finally found him... well. Things continued on as they had for so long, really; Felix insulted Dimitri, Felix called Dimitri out when others looked away or attempted to coddle him, and Felix closely watched Dimitri's every move. He couldn't bring himself to abandon his old friend, despite the disgust and hurt he felt every time he looked at him; instead, he pushed his old friend to address his issues and move past them, even when his own father popped up and told him to knock it off.

And then his father died... while defending Dimitri.

Are you sensing a pattern here? I'm sensing a pattern here. Anyway! The point is... that even after everything Dimitri did, and everyone that Felix lost to Dimitri, he still refused to abandon him entirely. He didn't outright forgive him, and he has yet to forgive him; Dimitri came to apologize for everything after Felix's father's death, and Felix bluntly told him, "I'm not after more empty words. I want you to speak through your actions." It's clear that Dimitri has to work for forgiveness? Has to prove that he's worthy of it? But Felix was—is—willing to give him that chance, because, and I can't stress this enough: it's impossible for Felix not to care about the people around him. He feels things far too deeply. He will always, always be there when people need him, even if his approach isn't the best because he isn't quite sure what, exactly, he's supposed to do.

But while Felix's relationship with Dimitri shapes/illustrates so, so many things about his personality, if we look at his relationships with other people? All of that care and concern is still there, even when he tries his best to bury it. He helped Ingrid with her chores after she was wounded in battle; he fussed at Sylvain for attempting to protect him during a fight, then rushed to his bedside when he heard that he was grievously wounded (spoiler alert: he was NOT); he told Ashe to never give up on his dream of becoming a knight, despite his own aversion to the title; he stopped everything to listen to Bernadetta when she simply asked him to; he worked around his hatred of sweets because Lysithea baked a cake just for him—like, need I go on? It's obvious that, while he tries to keep a certain amount of distance between himself and others, he just... can't. Oh, he'll snap at them, and he'll continue to say exactly what's on his mind at any given time, but if people can patiently look past that—which people frequently do, given that he isn't as hard to read as he'd like to think—then he'll wind up (grudgingly) accepting them.

This, then, is the Felix we're left with after such a long journey: an outwardly cold, sharp-tongued individual who tries his hardest to keep people at bay, because he knows damn well that he can—and will!—grow attached to them. A man who wants to escape both his brother's death and the chivalric values that glorify it, all because he wants the people he cares for to do all that they can to live. A person who claims to value strength above all else, even as he goes out of his way to do the right things—and to help others when they're at their weakest. He's a bit of a mess, really, but he's doing what he thinks is best, and that's what matters in the end.

CRIES sorry for the length

⬢ Powers:
  • Offensive Magic: Despite having a budding talent for Reason (Fire Emblem's term for what is essentially dark magic), Felix only has access to two spells: Thunder (minor lightning magic; 8 uses) and Thoron (advanced lightning magic; 4 uses). He rarely uses these spells? He prefers to take things apart up close, ie with his swords, but he'll fall back on his spells if he's backed into a corner—and they do pack a punch.
  • Major Crest of Fraldarius: Felix possesses a Crest, which is an inherited ability that Felix... doesn't have control over, per se? It ~activates~ of its own accord during random attacks, increasing the MT (attack power) of Felix's weapon—which means that Felix occasionally hits harder than he normally does. We're never really given info re: how often this happens, but as Felix has a major Crest, it procs more often than minor Crests tend to. In the game itself, Felix's Crest activating is something I'd definitely work out with the person/people I'm threading with!
  • Aegis Shield: The Aegis Shield is a Hero's Relic (a thousand-year-old weapon crafted from the bones of a dragon, although Felix and friends do not know this) passed down through the Fraldarius family. Only a person with a Crest of Fraldarius can wield it without turning into a beast, and as for what it does... well, it functions just like a normal shield, but sometimes it halves the damage its wielder takes? We're not really given any stats regarding how often that happens, sadly; it's another thing I would work out with the person/people I'm threading with.
⬢ Inventory:
  • Felix's outfit for reference, ft some light leather armor.
  • A black iron spur tucked away in his pocket...
  • For the display case:
    • The Sword of Moralta (restores a bit of health to its wielder each turn, and Felix's Major Crest of Fraldarius increases its effect—but this is something I'm honestly not going to mess with this in the game if he ever does regain his sword)
    • Zoltan-forged sword, which is just a regular sword from his favorite blacksmith of all time...
    • A hunting dagger
    • The Aegis Shield, the abilities of which I outlined above.
  • Felix's secondary outfit will be simple: a plain white shirt, another pair of teal pants, and another pair of his boots + gaiters combo. Simple, casual attire, a la this!
  • For Felix's t-shirts, I would like to pick options 2 and 3, please!

Character Info
⬢ Name: Felassan
⬢ Canon: Dragon Age
⬢ Canon Point: end of The Masked Empire, so post-death

⬢ History: here and luckily this is a novel so it doesn't have any of those Dragon Age Choices(tm)

⬢ Personality:
Felassan is a mystery, and he prefers it that way. He presents himself as a wandering Dalish mage, a member of some clan of elves that he's neither willing nor eager to name, because just about everything about him is dispensed on a need to know basis. Despite his secrecy and his willingness to do violence to protect it, he's generally an easygoing person, if sarcastic and prone to poking at sore spots just to get under people's skin. Broadly, he tries to keep himself distant from the goings-on around him, but as one might expect, he winds up getting involved despite his better judgment anyway. He still prefers to act as an independent agent, more or less, though by the end of the novel his purpose for doing so has changed from apathy towards the people he spends time with to the total opposite: wanting to help them, or at least the one.

The reason Felassan keeps his personal information so close to his chest is that he is a big liar, pretending to be one of the Dalish as a matter of convenience, because the Dalish are so scattered and live so differently from clan to clan that he can get away with it. He is an ancient elven mage in actuality, woken from a long magical sleep to wander around the modern world and gather intel for Fen'Harel. For much of his time in the Modern Era (or, you know, the Dragon Age), Felassan doesn't care about anything else; he has a job to do for Fen'Harel and he intends to do it, even if it takes a number of years and he gets tangled up in other things along the way. He does not, however, want anyone to know about it-- hence the Dalish "disguise," and his willingness to kill to protect the truth. When Briala, the only modern elf Felassan really cares about and respects, picks that proverbial scab enough to come close to the truth (or at least less of a lie), Felassan gives her an ultimatum: does she want his help or his truth, with the threat of immediate death if she chooses the latter. Felassan likes Briala very much; in fact, after she chooses his help, he immediately gives her a hug and willingly tromps off to help her, but he is still very much ready to drop bodies to keep his (and Fen'Harel's) secrets.

He is additionally willing to enact violence or let violence happen to other people if he deems them just too stupid to be helped. He threatens barkeeps with violence to get information without batting an eye and when Ser Michel unwittingly releases a demon that aims to kill the Dalish clan that kept it fettered, Felassan simply lets it happen, despite knowing exactly how it's going end up. He has a skewed perspective of the modern people, elves included, as humans are elf racist and the Dalish, at least, are in his own words, pompous idiots who cling to the past in all the wrong ways. He is less interested in trying to correct the behavior he witnesses actively, instead choosing to mentor and guide Briala towards making better choices on her own, instead of being told. When he asks her, Would you have listened? Would you have heard? about her opinions on the Dalish, it's telling: he could step in and educate plenty of the elves, but he simply does not. It also offends him, that the Dalish worship the ancient culture in which elves enslaved other elves, but he still doesn't make it his job to educate anybody. The vast difference between the ancient elven culture he comes from and the modern Dalish/city elves cultures is so much that he doesn't even consider the modern elves to be his people. That this disconnect exists among Felassan and other elves means that it's even more vast between him and other races, mostly humans; they all suck until proven otherwise, as far as he's concerned. He's content to mind his business and let people screw things up for themselves, with or without his helpful advice. Even in day to day occurrences, he's willing to let fights escalate to their breaking point before he steps in to suggest that maybe now isn't the time.

Generally, he's a spectator. He'll pal around with a few people, wander in and out of cities and clans and trade information, build barely-professional relationships, but he keeps himself very much outside the lives of other people. It's not a hundred percent certainty kind of thing: he meets Briala when he kills a group of humans attacking her while she's on her own, after all, and he had no reason to get involved with her. But he stays involved with her after that one incident because she interests him; people with drive, with unique perspectives and the ambition to really make a change pique his interest. Those stuck in the past or clinging to the wrong things that have no chance of improving their lives impress him far less, and as that makes up most people, he sticks to the sidelines and observes. He considers himself the slow arrow from a legend of Fen'Harel, or the thing that arrives unnoticed to achieve a goal and defeat enemies, so his tendency to keep to himself and simply watch and wait falls neatly in line with that.

Unlike his great pal Fen'Harel, Felassan does not take nearly as long to see the potential in the people around him. Despite the huge disconnect he cannot shake, he earnestly believes in Briala's mission to save the other elves from their human oppressors, to the point that he goes to his death for it. He's willing to refuse the knowledge he was tasked with getting, knowing it will mean the end of his life, to give Briala a chance. While he is not in any way the wise, grave mentor that elder Dalish mages are supposed to be (for obvious reasons), and while he is definitely a fountain of sarcastic comments and overt criticism nobody asked for, and while he doesn't even seem to take things happening around him seriously most of the time-- he still has that drop of belief in a cause in him that stops him from sinking completely into cynicism. He sees no harm, ultimately, in giving someone like Briala a chance to improve her world, and goes to his inevitable death with grace, refusing to hide and look over his shoulder for the rest of his life for his choice to support her. It's not impossible to get him on your side, it only takes a long time and a whole lot of ambition.

Overall, Felassan is an enigma wrapped in a mystery and laden with sarcastic commentary. He keeps out of the limelight and tends to treat things like one long, cosmic joke, but there's an earnest desire to guide and help in there somewhere. He'd rather give a little push in a direction than lay out the "right answer" and see what happens, because it's better to have an earnest chance than none at all. On an ordinary day he's just kind of an oddball who eats bark and drops obscure tidbits of lore like it's going out of style, not serious enough for some people and terrifying to others by virtue of being an elven mage. You could hang out with Felassan, you could talk to him for hours and have a good time, and not learn a thing about him-- and that's just the way he likes it.
⬢ Powers:
-elemental magic: Felassan's mage specialty is elemental/nature magic, meaning he cam summon the elements with various spells such as creating ice, summoning thunder/storms, manipulating rock, etc.
-somniari: Felassan is a Dreamer mage, which means he can access the Fade in his sleep, which isn't really relevant to a setting not connected to the Fade, but for the sake of explanation: it's essentially magic lucid dreaming with a degree of dimension-hopping; Dreamer mages can connect to the Fade freely in their sleep and consciously chill there
-negate magic: what it sounds like; he can cancel other magics
-shrinky staff: his staff shrinks down to pocket-sized stick... size, which is likely his own enchantment
⬢ Inventory:
-canonpoint outfit, pouches containing useless baubles and coins and such
-shrinkydink staff stick
-outfit 2 feat. a couple potions for let's say healing, another useless things (tm) pouch...
-shirts: this one & that one

⬢ Name: Sandalphon
⬢ Canon: Granblue Fantasy
⬢ Canon Point: Post-Tower of Babyl pt1

⬢ History:
▶ BEFORE WMTSB
At least 2000 years ago, Lucifer was instructed by the Astral Lucilius to create a Primarch, an artificial being like himself. Strangely, as angels were made with specific roles and purposes in mind, none was specified. The result of Lucifer's unguided project was Sandalphon, given the same elemental affinity as him and an appearance that, in contrast to others, wasn't dictated for whatever his intended purpose was meant to be.

This lack of clear purpose became a subject of unease for Sandalphon. As with any Primarch, he desired a role, and hoped that it would be one that allowed him to be of use to Lucifer. His early days were spent in the labs, awaiting Lucifer's return from his duties, to spend time and talk with him. Sandalphon's life revolved around these visits, and each time Lucifer would go, he would wait.

And each time Sandalphon asked after his purpose, Lucifer could give him no answer. Conversations were redirected to small-talk, and seeking Sandalphon's opinion on various subjects, including a new innovation called coffee. For the record, it tasted like death, and Sandalphon assured Lucifer that he enjoyed it all the same. Still the lack of purpose continued to plague Sandalphon, and Lucifer was moved to pursue the matter with Lucilius.

It happened that Sandalphon was passing by and overheard Lucilius' answer. Sandalphon was meant to be a backup, and would assume Lucifer's duties temporarily should he be unable. A spare. But Lucifer was deemed perfect, the penultimate Primarch without equal, and so Lucilius determined that Sandalphon was naught but useless scrap. In response to Lucifer's shocked silence, he was told he could keep Sandalphon if he was attached to him, like a pet.

Lucifer's troubled silence was the last Sandalphon heard on the subject, because the answer to his question was never discussed. This led Sandalphon to believe that he was just what Lucilius had said, and that he was kept for nothing more than pity, an empty existence. This led to him joining the rebellion against the Astrals, turning his anger against Lucifer in an act of spite.

The rebellion failed, and Sandalphon was sealed away in a tower known as Pandemonium for two thousand years. There he would stew in his anger and resentment, believing that Lucifer had spared him not out of mercy, but because he couldn't be bothered with destroying him. How he spent these many years beyond fomenting his own negative perceptions is unknown.

▶ WHAT MAKES THE SKY BLUE
But after the passage of those millennia, a terrible roar ripped through the sky. It caused a crack in the seals of Pandemonium, through which Sandalphon and others escaped. He waged a destructive campaign against the skies themselves, wielding his anger against a world that in his eyes cared nothing for him. To do so, he attacked the four Primarchs responsible for the tetra-elements which kept the skies in balance and thus islands afloat in the skies, and stole their wings.

This wrought havoc on the world, creating massive destruction that the world's denizens struggled and rallied against. Among these, the crew of the Grandcypher responded to the ensuing chaos and confronted Sandalphon. He captured Lyria and threatened her, and when she perceived his true feelings and attempted to empathize with her, he railed against these efforts and refused to listen to her. Beyond that, he suggested that he tear Vyrn's wings off as well.

The conflict culminated in a battle between Sandalphon and the allied forces of Primarchs, Primal Beasts, and the Grandcypher's crew. Despite amassing the power of the four Primarchs' wings and adding them to the two he already possessed, making him a power to rival Lucifer himself, Sandalphon still lost. In his defeat he was confronted, but he didn't relent, shoving the Singularity (the protagonist whose existence can impact causality) off the edge of an island to plummet through the sky.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Vyrn and Lyria, the Singularity was saved. And in answer to the roar which tore through the skies once more as a result, Lucifer finally arrived to intervene. The Cataclysm that Sandalphon had caused had met its end. With Lucifer's presence, the other Primarchs called for Sandalphon's punishment — for his destruction. And to the surprise of those around him, Sandalphon did not disagree.

In the face of this demand, however, Lucifer met Sandalphon with compassion. He expressed that he held himself equally responsible for not realizing how Sandalphon's lack of a role had hurt him, and told him that his simple company had been his source of solace. Beyond that, because Sandalphon had no role to subordinate him, he could stand as Lucifer's equal.

At a loss, Sandalphon could only respond in surprised anger, insisting that all he had done would be meaningless if Lucifer didn't rightfully punish him. Instead, Lucifer took Sandalphon into his core to rest, dispersing his body into motes of light. For the second time, he refused to destroy Sandalphon when that end was what he expected or sought. After this, nothing more was heard regarding Sandalphon, until reconstruction efforts were well underway in the wake of the Catacylsm.

▶ PARADISE LOST
In the time that passed since the end of the Cataclysm, Sandalphon was confined in a seraphic cradle. This was a prison of a different sort, well-furnished in the form of an empty village. Though affording better scenery and safety than Pandemonium, Sandalphon was alone, spending his time cultivating coffee trees and brewing coffee. This went on until Lyria's powers reacted with the seraphic cradle in proximity and drew her, Vyrn, and the Singularity within.

Upon meeting, the trio expressed surprise at the sight of Sandalphon, who had no idea how much time had passed since their last encounter. He expressed no interest in fighting his circumstances, to which Lyria objected, certain that Sandalphon was not satisfied with the outcome and had neither changed nor attained what he had hoped for.

Perhaps in response to his mounting frustration, or something else entirely, Sandalphon was released from his enclosed world. Once more he was restored to a physical form, and the trio who had found him lay unconscious. Drawn by a familiar though weak presence, Sandalphon sought out Lucifer in the crumbling structure of Canaan, all the while convinced that the whole exercise must be at his expense.

The reality was that Lucifer had been struck down and passed on his powers to Sandalphon, and he had reached out with his last remaining strength. His head was all that remained of him, and though he could neither see nor hear, he implored whomever was listening to relay a message to Sandalphon. Though Sandalphon threatened uselessly to wreak havoc if Lucifer didn't recover to stop him, he couldn't change the inevitable.

Sandalphon was left with wings he'd never felt worthy of, a role he never desired, and Lucifer's unrealized yearning to simply share one last cup of coffee with him. He viewed Lucifer's request to put an end to Lucilius' legacy as a promise, and after his initial shock over the loss of someone he thought would never fall, Sandalphon determined that he would do as Lucifer had asked no matter what.

Lucifer's death freed a monster wrought of countless angels' cores which Lucilius had created, known as Avatar. Those who orchestrated Lucifer's death were the Astral Beezlebub and another Primarch, a fallen angel named Belial. Upon recovering from shock, Sandalphon's first reflex was to attack these enemies without a moment of explanation. But new to his inherited powers as Supreme Primarch, Sandalphon quickly expended his energy.

Avatar wouldn't go down so easily, and it took a collected effort to destroy the massive being. In the aftermath of this conflict, Sandalphon's energies were spent, and he would need to recover. So it was that he joined the Grandcypher's crew for the time being, acknowledging that it was only because their interests were aligned, and he didn't expect their forgiveness, nor did he intend his stay to be long.

▶ 000
Another year passed, and the anniversary of the reconstruction arrived. Sandalphon and the crew of the Grandcypher received word about Lucilius' legacy and the schemes surrounding it, which prompted a journey to Pandemonium, where Beezlebub and Belial had stationed themselves. There, they engaged in a pitched battle between allied forces of the sky's denizens and Primarchs against Lucilius' experiments, in an assault on the enemy stronghold. The Primarchs bequeathed their wings to Sandalphon, ceding their roles to nature as Lucifer had long wished.

Their collective efforts finally allowed them to break through Pandemonium's barrier, to pursue Lucilius' cohorts. At the top of the tower, Sandalphon and his allies faced off against Belial. When it seemed they would prevail, Belial stalled with every tactic he had, between mind-games and stealing the wings of his own ally, in order to buy time for a newly revived Lucilius to enact his plan to destroy all life in the skies.

At last when Belial seemed defeated, Sandalphon and his comrades pursued Lucilius in order to stop him. To follow him Etemenanki, a structure dating back to their world's creation, Sandalphon used his power to teleport the party there. In this structure they saw murals depicting the creation of their world, and eventually found Lucilius in a bloodied room, with a dozen wings at his disposal.

He decided that he would use Sandalphon as a test subject to gain his newfound power, between Lucifer's stolen body and Lucio's absorbed core. Sandalphon was little match against him, and the crew struggled to protect one another from the onslaught. Lucilius derided Sandalphon as useless even for this experiment, deeming it a pity that Lucifer had been so fond of him.

Their circumstances were dire, and Sandalphon decided that he would buy time to save the others. At the least, he could stall Lucilius long enough that his mortal allies could escape destruction, and he steeled himself for this purpose... Until Vyrn sprang to Sandalphon's defense, insisting that despite all his faults, he was their friend, and he wasn't going to let Lucilius harm him.

Sandalphon's comrades wouldn't abandon him, and he found in himself the resolve to protect these allies who had accepted him. In response to this, the plume that Lyria had received from Lucifer began to glow. For a brief moment, Sandalphon envisioned a familiar place, and was filled with a sense of calm. Once more, he was able to manifest the wings that he had inherited from Lucifer, giving him twelve. This enabled Sandalphon and his allies to combat and defeat Lucilius.

In this moment, Belial appeared and offered the crew an airship with which to escape the crumbling Etemenanki, in exchange for leaving Lucilius. The crew reluctantly agreed and escaped to the airship. However, the airship was rigged by Belial to self-destruct, a cunning enemy unto the last. Sierokarte came to the rescue with the Grandcypher, only for Lyria to be swept into the skies. Sandalphon leapt after her and used his remaining strength to send her back to the Singularity before he disappeared.

He found himself in an oddly familiar place, and there, he encountered Lucifer. The circumstances were explained to him: that his soul had wandered there to the place where Lucifer had been waiting after his death. For the first time in millennia, the two were able simply to talk, and share coffee was Lucifer had wished. Though reluctant to leave, Sandalphon knew he had somewhere to return to. So he parted ways with Lucifer until such time as they would meet again.

When Sandalphon awoke, the found that the Singularity had rushed out in a smaller vessel to catch him as he tumbled through the sky. Both shocked and relieved, Sandalphon had returned to his friends, and they had at last put an end to Lucilius' machinations. Some time later, Sandalphon idly expressed an interest in opening a coffee shop, which his crew-mates emphatically encouraged and enabled.

And then he spotted some weirdo with Lucifer's face just casually doing laundry and yelled at him. Because of course he did.

▶ The Maydays
During a vacation trip to Auguste Island for a summer vacation, Sandalphon took the opportunity to practice being a cafe manager. Though discouraged by the lack of interest summer beachgoers had in coffee, Sandalphon nevertheless took serving his customers seriously. Unfortunately, the beach was beset first by a giant shark named Old Bruce that ate one of his crewmates among others, then by a horde of flying sharks.

Sandalphon and the Grandcypher crew set out to rescue their friends and quell the threat of the sharks. They were successful, and restored peace to the island after battling the creatures. Afterward, Sandalphon asked only to be credited as the Supreme Primarch in the island's records, knowing full well that this would lead people to conclude that Lucifer had been the one to save them.

His summer fate episodes complementing this event involved Sandalphon learning more about being a better cafe manager. He came to understand that caring about others on an individual level, despite being strangers, created a welcoming environment they'd wish to return to, and shared this valuable knowledge with others. He also refused to serve Lucio coffee out of spite because the guy was a walking death mask of Lucifer.

▶ Summer 2020
Although Sandalphon didn't feature in the events falling a year after The Maydays, he was involved in Lucio's summer fate episodes. This interaction showed that Sandalphon's stance had softened somewhat toward the fellow bearing his dead creator's face, but also his continued struggles with separating his sentiments toward one from the other. Lucio expressed a desire to be friends, as well as an awareness that there lie threats in their future that they would need to combine forces to face. Sandalphon took the proposition into consideration... And Lucio finally got some coffee. Progress.

▶ Tower of Babyl
After encountering anomalous elements in the vicinity, the Grancypher crew's investigation brought them to a curious tower. Although forces prevented them from flying to its apex, they were able to venture within from the base of the tower. Sandalphon and the others cautiously entered the structure, to contend with any danger that might lie within, but they could not get too far in their first foray before their path was barred.

[personal profile] valor 2020-11-23 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
⬢ Personality:
"Don't underestimate this sacrificial pawn."

Sandalphon projects a certain air of self-assurance. He stands tall and speaks frankly when he gives opinions, whether it's what others want to hear or not. At times this comes across as downright prickly, but he isn't inclined to mince words, and he doesn't balk in the face of confrontation. Occasionally he makes comments about himself or his skills that suggest a certain arrogance or pride, and that he's quite assured of his own capabilities. Any goal he places before himself he pursues with a dogged determination, regardless of personal cost.

He's made a habit of standing alone and apart from others, giving off the impression that he doesn't view himself as needing anyone. Offers of inclusion tend to result in a stiff, reflexive suspicion. Sandalphon has maintained this aloof behavior to the point that he's kept himself holed up in his room and doesn't know who is regularly aboard the Grandcypher. When asked for help, he easily acquiesces and puts forth his best and earnest efforts. It's clear that he's perfectly willing to assist others, and yet his befuddlement over anyone wanting anything from him is clear.

When faced with setbacks or surprises, Sandalphon's first response is usually flustered shows of anger. This comes across as his effort at a strong front, endeavoring not to display weakness. What he really achieves is a show of his deeply emotional nature. At the same time that he expresses a preference for logic and reason, he's driven by the strength of his own sentiments. Perhaps due to this conflict, Sandalphon struggles to express his emotions openly and honestly, opting toward obfuscation even when others can clearly read him.

Despite his best efforts to put on a strong front, it's obvious that Sandalphon has a penchant for brooding pessimism. He's inclined to believe the worst when it involves himself, especially as it pertains to his personal qualities or individual worth. Perceiving what to him was a wide gap between himself and those around him served to feed Sandalphon's anxiety and self-loathing. The belief that he was alone and unwanted hardened into a certainty in his mind, and this has fueled his tendency to wall himself off. This lack of perspective is compounded by his fixation on his faults, both real and perceived, and on atoning for his past misdeeds.

This mentality has caused Sandalphon to treat his own life with a certain abandon. Unable to see the value within himself, he couldn't imagine others seeing it either. Often, he defaults to courses of action that place little if any priority on his own safety or survival. And when he finds that he had been valued all along, this line of thinking remains difficult for him to shake. At times, Sandalphon may lose sight of the fact that he can rely on others as well, and that people are there for him. He remains reckless, but now it's for the sake of his friends and his desire to protect them.

For all that he has struggled with his perceived worth, Sandalphon's true feelings toward Lucifer have never changed. From the beginning, he has regarded Lucifer with such high esteem and personal affection that he's the sun in his universe. He has called Lucifer his guiding light, and this is no exaggeration. Even when he was driven by his anger at what he thought to be an uncaring world, his actions were centered around Lucifer. Even if only to be destroyed at his hand, he wanted to be acknowledged by the person most precious to him. Lyria has more than once noted that Sandalphon loves Lucifer, and simply wanted to be close to him.

In the face of acceptance, encouragement, and trust, Sandalphon has begun to discover more within himself. Seeing clearly for the first time that others care about him, he is beginning to recognize that his individual worth had never been tethered to having a set role. Being given something he'd long ago believed was beyond his reach has proven to Sandalphon that he can be more than a pawn on the board, and that he'd been mired too deeply in his own thoughts. This realization has given him a new resolve to protect others and reach out to them.

Over time, Sandalphon has learned to love the Sky Realm just as Lucifer had. He has seen its warmth and light for itself, and this has solidified his resolve as Supreme Primarch. As he has learned to cherish the world, he is determined to protect it and those he has come to hold dear. Gradually, Sandalphon is learning to show interest in those around him, even strangers, and has come to find that he's capable of giving others both comfort and helpful advice. He carries Lucifer's memory with him always, but so too does he look to the future and to his own dreams, just as Lucifer had hoped for him.

"This is my wish, chosen myself."

⬢ Powers:
Sandalphon's combat skills are notated here.

In addition to this, it's important to note that Sandalphon is an angel, specifically a Primarch. He's a being whose body is a coalescence of his elemental power. In his case, light. This would in theory allow him to pass between tangible and intangible forms as other Primarchs have used this capability, however outside of a single instance of teleportation in 000, he hasn't shown himself to be very good at demanifesting and remanifesting over any great distance.

Due to the nature of a Primal being's physical constitution, Sandalphon is also capable of changing his size to a dramatic degree. While typically he appears the same size as a human being, and this seems to be his default, he can increase his size to the point that an airship can be small by comparison. He could, if he so chose, also alter his shape or appearance, but has never shown an interest in doing so.

Like other Primarchs, Sandalphon is immortal, neither aging nor dying, unless a weapon made from chaotic elements is wielded against him. Such a weapon must be able to disrupt causality, like that which slew Lucifer. Otherwise, Sandalphon is capable of regeneration, the speed of which varies depending on the severity of the injury. If enough damage is sustained, any Primal being will enter into a state of deep sleep for a time until they have recovered. Mild to moderate damage is regenerated relatively quickly, and Sandalphon has self-healing skills.

In contrast to other Primarchs, Sandalphon is in possession of twelve wings. Other than an angel's core, their wings are their greatest concentration of raw power. To that end, Sandalphon is particularly strong. Six wings are said to be on the level of a god. However, Sandalphon is yet inexperienced with bringing this much power to bear, and he has stated that it's taxing to use power that isn't native to himself. He has over time developed a greater mastery of water, and can take on this element's affinities as well as wield different abilities.

Additionally, Sandalphon has dabbled in using wind, though only in small measure, such as when he's preparing beverages. This does show that he's exercising these elements, and he may yet grow stronger in them with time. It's notable that while Sandalphon has little field experience as Supreme Primarch, having only held this role for a relatively short period in his long life, he is quite cunning and intelligent. He lacks the deviousness of Belial, however, and others have demonstrated an ability to read his intent. His idea of subtlety is really far from impressive.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Sylvain Jose Gautier
⬢ Canon: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
⬢ Canon Point: Azure Moon (Blue Lions route) final chapter, pre-epilogue.

⬢ History: Character info, General game timeline, Azure Moon timeline, Game synopsis

Notes: Byleth was female and the only other students that were recruited into the Blue Lions were those from the Ashen Wolves house (Yuri, Constance, Balthus, and Hapi). Byleth also completed the Cindered Shadows dlc storyline; while Sylvain isn't a playable character in those chapters, upon Byleth and Dimitri's return to the monastery, he will have been informed of what had transpired.

⬢ Personality:
"Oh yeah? Which ones? Is it that I'm terrible to girls? Or the rumor where I bring some terrible misfortune to the girls I date? I don't, by the way. In case you're about to ask. Oh! I also heard about how I'm total trash and everyone should avoid me. That might be my favorite."

In order to really understand Sylvain, it's important to remember that he has, essentially, two sides to him: one that he allows people to see and likely prefers them to see most of the time, and his true personality that he only shows in private or in the presence of very close friends. For most of his interactions, Sylvain projects an outward appearance of affable insouciance, with a light-hearted and easy going charm that allows him to get along with most people right off the bat. He's caring and helpful, and gives off that older brother vibe for most of his classmates, some of whom he's taken care of since childhood. He's always seen with a smile on his face and is almost always surrounded by girls, of which he's never out of compliments and sweet words for. 'Tis he, Sylvain, skirt-chaser, oath breaker, leaving a trail of broken hearts behind him wherever he goes. But no one hates him for it, surely; the ladies all love a dark and brooding nobleman hidden beneath a winning smile, after all, especially one who bears a crest.

And that's the crux of most, if not all, of Sylvain's issues: despite only having a minor Crest of Gautier, Sylvain is next in line to inherit House Gautier and is able to wield the Lance of Ruin to its full potential, a hero's relic that's been passed down in his family through generations. Since birth, Sylvain was given everything and anything he could want, whereas his older brother, Miklan, was given nothing simply on the basis that he wasn't born with a crest. Throughout his childhood, Miklan tormented Sylvain, abused him and even attempted to kill him at every opportunity until Miklan was eventually disowned, all of which Sylvain had endured silently. Sylvain believed his existence was the reason Miklan had suffered, and that he had unknowingly destroyed whatever future (whatever life) Miklan may have had simply because he was given the crest that Miklan didn't have. Despite the numerous attempts on his life, he never held a grudge against Miklan, only harboring pity for him after his death at Conand Tower. These events and the abuse he had suffered throughout the years have colored his opinion of crests and how they've become so ingrained into the life and culture of Fódlan; it's also influenced his opinion of himself, as he was led to believe that his crest is all he's good for and all he's worth.

So deep is his hatred for crests and ultimately, himself, that he struggles to reconcile his own self-worth outside of his crest, believing that people only want to be close to him to reap the potential benefits that comes from being with him. It's the reason why he dates around with no intention of commitment—what's the point of getting serious with someone and settling down when they have no interest in who he is anyway? It's a vicious cycle that repeats itself: he falls for a girl, they fool around, and just when it seems as if she's interested in something more, Sylvain breaks it off immediately. He's surprisingly insensitive and goes about it almost mercilessly, no flowery language here whatsoever, and it usually results in the girl crying and hurling insults at him. He justifies it by saying that they only wanted to use him as a means of becoming nobility, yet he doesn't allow any of them to come close enough to actually get to know him like he really wants. It's the same with nearly everyone else; for all of Sylvain's smiles and friendly disposition, he keeps people at a distance, only showing them a side of himself that he's cultivated over time—one built of easy smiles and easier lies, convincing himself that, yes, this is all he's good for: a crest and a lance and a duty to defend the northern border with his life. This is his purpose, his birthright, and there are no room for things like sincerity, like honesty, because in the end, no one cares about that, or about him. At least, it's what he'd convinced himself of, until that side of himself, that mask he wore every day, became real.

But like all masks, they crack eventually. For all that Sylvain tries to keep people at arm's length (not only to protect himself but to protect them from himself, because Sylvain is surprisingly self-aware and knows better than anyone else how deep his self-hatred and insecurities run, all while being notoriously awful at letting the people who actually want to help him in), he's pretty bad at it because he cares too much, especially when it comes to his friends and his allies. Let it be known that Sylvain would be the first to lay down his life for Felix, Ingrid, or Dimitri without a second thought, not because of chivalry and honor and all those other notions of duty that their kingdom had force fed them with since they were able to walk, but because he cares about them. They'd been friends since childhood and he'd watched them grow, wiped their tears whenever they cried despite having no one to wipe his own. His friends are so important, much more important than he is and ever will be, and while it's so easy to write it off as dedication, in reality it's his self-loathing and self-destructive tendencies rearing its head again.

But here's where it gets complicated, because in the end, it is dedication: for as much as Sylvain fools around and never seems to care about his training, he never fails to show up whenever his friends need him. He's the kind of guy who makes a childhood death pact at, like, ten years old and still honors it even at twenty-four; it's the one thing that makes him get his act together and curbs his self-destructive habit of throwing himself in the path of danger for his friends rather than actually pulling them out of it. He never outright refuses to help anyone either, even if it may be out of his way, or even if they didn't ask him in the first place. He tells Ashe that it's their job to help anyone who needs it, and that everyone's the same, deep down: "If someone's in trouble, I help them. You don't need to be a valiant knight to know that." He spends time with Dedue, a man from Duscur whose people have been subjected to prejudice following the assassination of the king, heedless of the misunderstandings people may make about him for doing so. He insists that a person can't be judged by the worst of their kind, that what happened during the tragedy doesn't concern Dedue himself, much like the way he wishes people could view him: to be free from the attention that having a crest grants him, which is both as much of a spotlight as it is a microscope, always judging and scrutinizing each move and choice he makes.

And while he plays up his dumb playboy act like it's going out of style, he is, in fact, surprisingly intelligent. There's an expectation of nobles and crest-bearers that he rails against vehemently, the idea that people who don't have crests are lesser than those who possess them. As someone who is both, Sylvain was expected from a young age to do great things, expected to be better than the rest and a model for people to look up to; to lead his citizens to a brighter future. It's something he both hates and is terrified of, partly because he wishes so desperately to have the freedom to live his life the way he wants to, without the burden of crests and the suffocating weight of everyone's lofty expectations; partly because he's seen firsthand what happens if he were to fail to meet those expectations: his brother cast out and disowned, reduced to nothing but a bandit and who had ultimately died a monster, attempting to wield the Lance of Ruin in a last ditch effort to prove his worth despite knowing the consequences of doing so without having a crest. So Sylvain does the exact opposite, builds up a reputation for himself as nothing but a dandy and a philanderer, one who doesn't care about training and studies and hard work. In actuality, it couldn't be further from the truth: Sylvain is smart and calculating, able to grasp complex magic formulas at a mere glance, expressing his suspicions of the true cause behind the Duscur tragedy despite the story that everyone else believes. One of his favorite gifts is a board game set, and he's seen studying up on Sreng outside of his classes, learning about their history and land despite his duty to defend the border from their invasion. He values hard work and respects those who truly dedicate themselves to following their passions or honing their skills, but further than that, what he actually admires are people who are true to themselves: people who don't try to pretend to be someone different, who know who they are and what they want and are unapologetic in trying to achieve it.

All this culminates into his true personality: beneath all the fake smiles and frivolity, Sylvain is a man weighed down by expectation and duty, burdened by bitterness and self-loathing due to his crest and his childhood. But he is also a man who cares deeply for the people around him, a man who honors his promises to his friends; a man who wants nothing more than for the people in his life to live happily and above all, to live freely.

⬢ Powers:
  • Weapons proficiency: Sylvain's main weapon of choice is the lance/spear, and while he isn't Felix "While You Were Partying, I Studied The Blade" Fraldarius who wakes up at four in the morning to destroy training dummies every day, Sylvain is actually quite good at wielding it. He has to be, when he's tasked to defend the border from invading armies from the north; when he's the only one able to wield the Lance of Ruin. His fighting style apparently incorporates "flashy techniques" and "evocative poses", and "always draws attention." Yeah, I hate him too. He's also decent in wielding axes and handling horses.
  • Magic: Sylvain has a budding talent for Reason, which, if cultivated, allows him to access a variety of fire-based elemental spells of increasing strength. He also knows some minor healing spells, which aren't very powerful, but will work in a pinch.
  • Sylvain possesses a minor Crest of Gautier, something hereditary that tends to only manifest in battle, which gives him a boost in strength when he uses special attacks and allows him to wield the Lance of Ruin without suffering from the physical and mental strain of doing so.
  • Lance of Ruin: a cool and creepily unsettling lance made from the bones of a beast, passed down through the Gautier family. As Sylvain is its rightful wielder, he's able to wield it to its full potential and execute the special attack Ruined Sky with it, which is super effective against dragons and flying enemies.

    ⬢ Name: Angela "Mercy" Ziegler
    ⬢ Canon: Overwatch
⬢ Canon Point: the end of the animated short Zero Hour

    ⬢ History: here

⬢ Personality: "We are compassion." In Overwatch's first trailer, titled We Are Overwatch, each character has a "We are..." statement that sums them up, and Mercy's is compassion. She abhors violence, war, and conflict and instead embodies the typical caring, kind healer. She gives of herself and expects nothing in return, because a doctor's job is to help people; not to be thanked. Her feelings on helping those affected by conflict is so strong that she's shown to have a tense relationship with soldiers or those who believe that fighting is the only way to bring peace. While she'll heal their wounds, she stays stubbornly opposed to their point of view and will lecture, scold, or take a sharp tone with them. Because she lost her parents to war, she's a strict pacifist who has a hard time tolerating anyone who carries weapons. She thinks of a security force as little more than hired thugs who only fight for money, not because it's the right thing to do. Despite this, and despite her protests against war, Angela finds herself gravitating back to Overwatch. She has her own battle to face, and it's the battle to pick up the pieces after the soldiers are done fighting the war. She feels it's up to her and others like her to change the world for the better.

Beyond this facet of her personality, Angela is a thinker who wants answers to everything. She questions everything and admits that this is what gives people a prickly view of her. But she doesn't try to change to please people; instead she's glad she's this way because it "helps me do the science." Her dedication and perseverance is what pushed her through medical school and into a high ranking position at a university hospital, which in turn gained her the notice of Overwatch's leader. And when handed its medical research department on a silver platter, she still didn't rush to accept. Angela had her reservations about working for an organization that had been so closely tied with war. She wanted none of her research to be used for weapons. This conviction runs deep within her and whether seen as stubbornness or a steadfastness to stick to her morals, it's a defining part of who she is.

Of course, Angela's compassion for other leads her to call out bad behavior quite often. She admonishes those who don't take good care of themselves, disapproves openly of behavior she sees as destructive, and will heavily question others' lack of ethics. This causes her to come off as a bit of a nag, or a mother hen. She sees no problem interfering, because she feels she has a person's best interests at heart, but this is another thing that factors into that "prickly opinion" others can have of her. Angela has a scientific mind and to her it's completely logical to point out problems as she sees them, regardless of whether or not the person's requested her help or asked for an opinion. Arguing her point comes naturally to her, but when faced with similarly stubborn people, she tends to fall silent and let it go.

Angela is very much a workaholic, admitting to drinking a ton of coffee to stave off her exhaustion. But being in the business of saving lives and healing hurts means putting her own needs on the backburner. Despite not being wanted at an aid camp in Cairo, she stayed on and put up with the dirty looks. Despite living in an apartment there for two years, she hadn't decorated at all, only having boxes of medical supplies stacked up inside. What she values is people, not making her existence more comfortable. After Overwatch's downfall, Angela felt a great deal of guilt at how the organization had made the world worse, not better. Instead of moving back to working in a nice, clean hospital, she chose to go where she was needed, which was anywhere that people were suffering. She moved from aid camp to aid camp, helping not only those affected by war, but by natural disasters too. Having felt she'd failed with Overwatch's downfall, she did everything in her power to make up for it. She wanted to be Dr. Ziegler to her patients, not Mercy. She was ashamed of that persona and didn't want to be recognized. It was never about the fame for her, but about doing research that could in turn save lives. This attitude changes after meeting her former coworkers in Cairo as they chase Gabriel down and he launches an attack. After talking to Ana and checking on the children she's rescued, Angela realizes that she doesn't have to run from her past. She can pick up where she left off and try to make the world a better place alongside Overwatch again.

⬢ Powers: Angela is baseline human, but her Valkyrie suit and caduceus staff has tech that does go beyond that. Her suit is designed to take a beating, and on one occasion a mortar shell ripped through a building, covering her in debris, but she came out of it unharmed. It also gives her greater strength, allowing her to fly while holding a grown man with one hand or lifting heavy stone to toss aside. It appears both her staff and her suit itself contains nanobiotic technology to heal, while her halo visor can do scans for signs of life as well as injuries. And of course the wings of her suit allow her to fly. (I'm not including the RP game breaking ability that she has in the video game, which is literally bringing people back from the dead; that feature hasn't been shown to exist in the non-video game portion of Overwatch canon.)

    Character Info
    ⬢ Name: Shirou Emiya
    ⬢ Canon: Fate/Stay Night
⬢ Canon Point: Unlimited Blade Works: Good Ending

    ⬢ History: Wiki

    ⬢ Personality:

I am the bone of my sword

Steel is my body, and fire is my blood

I have created over a thousand blades

    Unaware of loss

    Nor aware of gain

Withstood pain to create weapons, waiting for one’s arrival

I have no regrets. This is the only path

My whole life was Unlimited Blade Works

Shirou Emiya is a 17-year-old boy who has lived his entire life in Fuyuki City. He attends Homurahara Academy and seems to be an ordinary boy. Secretly, however, he is a mage.

Because his adoptive father, Kiritsugu Emiya, passed away while he was young, Shirou has mostly had to take care of himself (with the exception of Taiga Fujimura coming around almost every day as a surrogate big sister, her family handling the ownership of his property, and so forth). Shirou possesses a surplus of life talents and is known to be “the perfect housewife”.

In particular, his cooking skills are incredible and even famous throughout his school. He is far from being a cheapskate, has no problems with cooking meals for others everyday, and will go out of his way to make his food extravagant. He does have a general distaste of Chinese food, however, because of a certain Chinese restaurant where he lives.

Shirou is stubborn and selfless to a fault. He can usually be called upon for help with menial tasks, and ask for nothing in return. In conversations he is either blunt or sarcastic, but he has trouble conveying this through body language, so it becomes hard for people to pick up on which is which. Occasionally, this will make him come across as either dense or ignorant. His facial expressions are rather easy to read, however, and it is easy to tell that he is not someone to openly dislike someone, especially right off the bat, meaning that it is unusual when he does.

Shirou was only able to become a mage because of his persistence when asking his father, Kiritsugu, to train him. He eventually gave in and taught Shirou magecraft, but he did it in a roundabout way, not only teaching him in an incomplete and improper method, but also allowing him to stop whenever he wanted (which is unusual among mages. Not that Shirou ever did stop).

Because of the trauma sustained in the Fuyuki Fire, as well as the ideals inherited from Kiritsugu Emiya, Shirou’s one true wish is to become a Hero of Justice so that he can save people. He has to become a Hero of Justice, so that there is meaning in why he survived when nobody else did. He has repressed his memories and life before the Fuyuki Fire.

This is why he does menial tasks without asking for anything in return. He acts selflessly and puts the lives of others far above his own. He takes on multiple part-time jobs that involve physical labor, so in addition to his training, he continues to make his body stronger. Shirou is actually quite physically strong and scarily capable of killing another person.

Shirou wants to become a Hero of Justice who can save everyone.

He is very self-destructive because of the mix of his ideals and trauma, and cannot stand the thought of someone being hurt for him or in his place. This is shown in how during the fight between Saber and Berserker, he jumped in the way of a lethal attack without any hesitation, and very nearly died as a result if not for Avalon becoming active again thanks to Saber’s presence.

Throughout the Fifth Holy Grail War, Shirou interacts (read: argues) with Archer constantly during the war. For a reason that bewilders Shirou himself, as well as Saber, Shirou dislikes Archer the moment they meet. This is because Archer is the future and ideal version of Shirou, having made a contract with the world and became a heroic spirit, while also having been betrayed by everything, including his own ideals, and as a result turned cynical.

The contradiction of Shirou Emiya and Heroic Spirit EMIYA existing at the same time allowed Shirou to gain Archer’s knowledge, memories, and techniques through their interactions, even allowing Shirou to clash properly with Saber during their spars, despite the fact that Saber was not going any easier on him than the day before, where she completely wiped the floor with him. This extreme growth-speed allowed him to even master Projection Magic and become a decent mage, despite his shoddy circuits. The speed of this growth even threatens to break his body as a result.

Additionally, through their interactions, Shirou begins to see the hypocrisy in his ideals. However, despite this, he does not give up on his ideals, and even manages to convince Archer that he will not allow his ideals to swallow him. His growth takes him on a path where he searches for a middle ground so that he can continue to pursue his ideals. This version of Shirou could arguably be the most balanced of the different versions of Shirou Emiya.

"I won't lose it. Even if it's foolish, I won't turn back. I know my dream isn't... even if I'm a fraud, I know... I know my dream isn't wrong!"

⬢ Powers: Shirou's Elemental Affinity and Origin are both "Sword". As a result, he is only able to specialize in a specific magecraft unique to him.

The only magic allowed to Shirou Emiya is a Reality Marble known as Unlimited Blade Works. All of his "abilities" are simply aspects/byproducts of what his Reality Marble is capable of.

Structural Grasping: The ability to understand the structure and design of objects as if looking at a blueprint. He can grasp the structure of weapons on sight alone, though other things such as appliances seem to require him to touch it first. In the world of magic, this is considered to be a pretty useless ability unless you're fixing broken heaters.

Reinforcement: Allows Shirou to analyze the structural composition of an object, and increase its effectiveness, such as making it more durable or its shape more practical. He can also use it to improve upon the physical capabilities of his own body, such as his eyesight, allowing him to see as far as four kilometers away.

Tracing (Projection): Hoo boy, this is the main ability of UBW, so this is gonna be LONG. Blame Fate for having incredibly complicated lore, world-building, and abilities.

A high-level skill, and the Shirou's "specialty". When Shirou would initially project things without the ability to Trace, the things he projects would be useless and hollow, only imitating the shape. However, the way UBW works is that he not only reproduces the materials needed for his unique form of Projection, but he also reproduces the history of whatever he projects, meaning that it quite literally fools the world into thinking it's real, so it sticks around indefinitely so long as Shirou doesn't "deny their existence", or put more simply, breaks.

Shirou's Tracing completely copies everything regarding the creation and existence of the object (though certain steps can be skipped for faster projection time, at the detriment of the projection quality).

He is only effectively able to reproduce swords, other weapons, and armor, but this specialty allows him to faithfully reproduce even legendary weapons. However these weapons always suffer some degradation, as Humans cannot conceptualize an object's existence with a single sense. He is capable of reproducing any sword that he has seen, though Noble Phantasms are always one rank below their original strength and armor costs three times the amount of magical energy, and he is capable of employing its entire history, allowing him to wield any weapon with the same proficiency of its original owner. He has to see the weapons as how their form as final product actually are with his own eyes to reproduce them, as even the blueprint of Zelretch is not enough to reproduce it, but by seeing it and Caliburn through shared memories of Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern and Saber, he becomes able to fully trace them afterward.

(With the canon point Shirou comes from, however, he has NOT seen Caliburn or the Jeweled Sword Zelretch, so he cannot project those)

If the weapon is not made of materials that exist in the world, such as Ea, he cannot analyze or reproduce it, though he can tell its basic nature. He is also quite capable of creating his own original kinds of weapons, should he put his mind to it.

It is later identified that these abilities and Shirou's affinity with swords are concepts of Shirou's Reality Marble, Unlimited Blade Works. Rather than simply creating his projections in the real world, he actually reproduces them within the Reality Marble, as if he were loading a gun, and then projects them into the real world as if he were firing it. This allows him to prepare dozens of swords at a time for later use.

Shirou is unable to properly deploy or maintain Unlimited Blade Works due to a shortage of innate magical energy generation, but with a proper contract with a magus with a suitable level of magical energy, such as Rin, he is capable of using it. It is possible for him to one day be able to sustain it on his own (with enough training), but as of currently, he can only deploy and maintain Unlimited Blade Works if someone else is supplying the mana necessary.

So that's Shirou's ability... now for just what the heck a Reality Marble is!

The concept of a Reality Marble is one that centers around the materialization and projection of one's inner world onto reality following the Thaumaturgical Theory World Egg. Reality Marbles represent the pinnacle of all Bounded Fields where the boundary line becomes the space itself.

The created worlds are completely cut off from normal reality, projecting their internal landscape and sealing off the regular World. Following the World Egg theory, the actualization of a Reality Marble is the result of switching the Self and the World while keeping the boundary the same. The size of the Self and the World is switched, enclosing the World in a small container while the Self is expanded. The contained World is the World Egg and the name of the theory. They will encase anyone within range, causing them to disappear from view. The World constantly attempts to crush the unnatural bounded fields as they are not created by spiritual beings, meaning that it costs a great deal of magical energy to construct one and keep it stabilized.

Unlimited Blade Works: Infinite Creation of Swords is the Reality Marble of Shirou Emiya. It is the definite answer obtained by someone whose life was saved by a sword, actually merged and lived with a sword, and acted as a sword all of his life.

Both Archer and Shirou use an incantation to facilitate the invocation of the Reality Marble. It is close to a "Ten-Count" aria, using a poem about the caster as the basis, used to activate High-Thaumaturgy.

Shirou describes it as a suggestion to change himself and the words that will "connect Shirou Emiya". The lines of the incantation can be said at any time without requiring preparation. The first line is often used in order to strengthen a projection, such as with Archer's use of Caladbolg II and Shirou's use of Rho Aias.

Once the incantations have been completed, an illusionary fire that does not emit any heat spreads out to form a boundary and wall for the Bounded Field. The bright light fills the vision of those present, and manifests an open, barren desert. It is a kingdom of rubble littered with thousands, perhaps a countless number, of swords anchored in the ground like grave markers in a wasteland, yet are well preserved. It is a world likened to a steel mill, filled with weapons, and flames. The basis for the world in the Reality Marble is a hill of swords that spreads infinitely in his mind.

The Reality Marble's purpose is a steel manufacturing factory that produces the countless famous swords that are without their owners, extending into the horizon. It contains all of the raw materials and sorcery needed for the formation of the weapons, and it records and analyzes all weapons and defensive armaments encountered by the user. The number of unique weapons encountered and recorded by Archer exceeds numerous thousands, most of which are Noble Phantasms each possessing deadly powers. Their entire histories, compositions, and designs are all perfectly recorded, allowing for instant proficiency with the weapons by inheriting all combat skills and techniques utilized by their original owners.

Close combat weapons such as swords, spears, and halberds are the main focus of the Reality Marble in accordance with Shirou's Origin of "Sword", which also makes it impossible to record or reproduce modern weaponry like guns and other mobile weapons. Weapons encountered are immediately analyzed with a single glance, enabling them to be projected immediately afterwards, and once projected, they are stored within the Reality Marble for later use.

The analysis of weapons is limited only to the direct use of human senses, meaning that blueprints and materials will be unable to provide the necessary information for a proper analysis.

Once the Reality Marble is deployed, all of the weapons are available for use without the need to project them from scratch as they are physically there in the Reality Marble, and any weapon can immediately be called to the user's hands, pulled from out of the ground, or levitated even while the user is in direct combat. The weapons reproduced once the Reality Marble is first activated will not consume magical energy, but those used or destroyed within it will add to the cost of maintaining the Bounded Field. The amount of energy used to reproduce weapons that did not exist after the Bounded Field was expanded and the amount of energy used to recreate weapons destroyed while it is activated is extremely costly.

The poem at the beginning of Shirou's personality section is the incantation required for activation. However, even with knowledge of how to activate it, he still can't because he's unable of generating the large amount of magical energy required.

    ⬢ Name: Lucifer
    ⬢ Canon: Granblue Fantasy
⬢ Canon Point: Ending of 000

⬢ History: Before What makes the sky blue

More than 2000 years in the past, Lucifer was created by the Astral researcher, Lucilius. Lucifer was assigned the role of Supreme Primarch, tasked with overseeing the evolution of the Sky Realm. Considered a masterpiece, the six-winged Lucifer was marked as perfect by his maker. His role placed him above all others of his kind, and he supervised the other Primarchs as part of it. Lucilius also tasked him to create a Primarch of unknown purpose, the product of which was be Sandalphon.

Lucifer enjoyed spending time with Sandalphon, to the point that his favouritism was well known. Sandalphon asked many times about his purpose, so much that even Lucifer went to Lucilius to ask about it. Lucifer discovered Sandalphon, the being he had created, was made to be a spare of Lucifer's, in case anything happened to him. Sandalphon, learning this, falls into self doubt.

Some time after, the fallen angels were triggered into rebellion against the Astrals, and Sandalphon fought alongside them. Lucifer was able to stop this rebellion, and while many died in the conflict, he sealed Sandalphon among others in a tower known as Pandemonium. Later, Lucilius revealed that he sowed the seeds of this rebellion himself, in order to harvest the cores of fallen primals for his pet project: Avatar, a collection of countless tormented primal cores. With this creation, Lucilius intended to lash out against their world's god and bring the Sky Realm to ruin. Though Lucifer implored Lucilius to reconsider, the Astral refused to abandon his course, and so Lucifer ended his creator's life to save the world he was made to protect. Afterward, he took it upon himself to seal away the product of Lucilius' research, his legacy.

    What makes the sky blue

The seal on Pandemonium -the jail for the fallen angels- opened up slightly when an overwhelming roar tore through the skies, around two thousand years later. This allowed the fifth primarch, Sandalphon, to escape. He went around the Sky Realm, attacking the Primarchs overseeing the four tetra-elements, causing the cataclysms, by making an imbalance in the elemental energies of the world. Joining forces with the protagonist, the Singularity, these Primarchs as well as other Primals got together to stop Sandalphon's rampage. Though he seemed defeated, Sandalphon pushed the Singularity off the edge of the island on which they stood, sending them plummeting through the sky. This forced Lucifer to intervene, the first time he shows up even after being mentioned, and put an end to the struggle at last. Lucifer learned then of Sandalphon's motivations, the reason why he started the Cataclysm, and held himself equally responsible. He absorbed Sandalphon into his core, and gave Lyria one of his feathers.

What makes the sky blue II: Paradise Lost

A year after the Cataclysm, Lucifer was revealed to have place Sandalphon in a Seraphic Cradle, some sort of a cocoon, in which he existed in a closed little world completely alone. While it was a more comfortable place in which to be confined, it was also proof that the two Primarchs still didn't understand each other. Lucifer continued to act as a safeguard against Lucilius' legacy, while keeping watch over his fellow Primarch. But this divide of attention made him vulnerable, and an Astral named Beezelbub ambushed Lucifer, wielding a weapon from the Otherworld which could kill immortal beings. This weapon was the only means by which any Primal being could be killed, and unable to protect himself without harm to Sandalphon, Lucifer let himself be killed. He was then beheaded, his body stolen by his former adjutant Belial.

Though all that remained of Lucifer was his head, without any of his five senses, he passed on his powers to Sandalphon. He also clung to life long enough to convey a message to the first person to find his remaining head. Unaware that it was Sandalphon who found him, Lucifer implored whoever heard him to convey a message to Sandalphon. He entrusted his duties to his fellow Primarch, including the responsibility of stopping Avatar. His final wish, the only thing he desired for himself, was that he could have had one last cup of coffee with Sandalphon. After relaying his message, he dispersed into light. His death was a catalyst for Avatar being released, for Sandalphon to fight Avatar, and to join the main crew in the Grancypher. He truly believed Sandalphon was the one fit to take over his duties as the Supreme Primarch.

What makes the sky blue: 000

Some time later, it was revealed that Belial had been acting based on Lucilius' millennia old plans all along. His theft of Lucifer's body was in the service of reviving Lucilius, transplanting his severed head onto the Primarch's body. Restored to life, Lucilius started again his plans to destroy the world, which put him against the protagonists and Sandalphon in a desperate struggle. When all hope seemed lost in the face of Lucilius' stolen wings, Lucifer's feather resonated with Lyria's ability, and Sandalphon, granting the strength they needed to prevail. Lucifer's essence and power were in his feather, connected to Sandalphon and the others even after his disappearance from the realm, and it made it possible for Sandalphon to be able to fight the Astral.

Though Lucilius and Belial were defeated, a final trap sent Sandalphon falling through the sky. He awoke to find himself in a strangely familiar place, where Lucifer was, greeting him as he woke up. Offering him a cup of coffee, Lucifer speculated that they were in a place where souls went to rest before passing on to the next world. They spoke about the present and what had transpired. In the time he had alone, Lucifer had time to think about his life, his death, and his duty. So when Sandaphon arrived, he had thought about everything he could, and Lucifer reassured Sandalphon that whatever happened, whatever the world thought of him, Sandalphon would always be his solace. Their time together was short, and Lucifer admitted that he both understood Sandalphon must leave yet wanted him to stay. As Sandalphon left to return to the world of the living, Lucifer came to understand how Sandalphon felt all those times he'd said, "I'll be waiting."

⬢ Personality: Lucifer is an artificial being, a Primarch, one created to oversee evolution and the world itself. Because his role makes all others of his kind his subordinates, he has always been set apart, special. This made him believe there was an unbreakable distance between himself and others, one which he tried to get rid off by asking the others to treat him casually.

While he regarded his creator Lucilius as his friend, he couldn't really have any small-talk with the Astral, who was too busy all he time with his research. He saw Lucilius as someone he could trust, not just his creator, even if Lucilius didn’t see him the same way. Lucifer didn’t have any bad feelings for him, always calling him ‘friend’ instead of any other word he could have used. He wanted to be Lucilius’ friend, even though Lucilius didn’t see him as anything but a tool. He was conflicted when it came to killing Lucilius, because the Astral wanted to do exactly the opposite of what he made Lucifer for. But duty came before everything, even his own feelings.

It was due to not having company from Lucilius, that he came to spend his free time with Sandalphon, whose lack of a role meant he wasn't a subordinate by design. Lucifer yearned to be seen and treated as an equal, and thus saw Sandalphon as his companion. In Sandalphon he found everything he didn’t get from Lucilius; companionship, friendship, and warmth. He enjoyed sharing his thoughts with the other Primarch, and always looked for his input. In the absence of this, Lucifer was isolated once more. Sandalphon was, in some ways, the most important being in Lucifer’s life, as he was the only one he could converse with in equal terms, unlike Lucilius and the other Primarchs. After learning of Sandalphon's purpose, Lucifer avoided that harsh truth, one he didn't know how to deal with. This caused a misunderstanding between the two, and he holds himself responsible for the results. Though Lucifer takes responsibility, he doesn't know how to make peace with Sandalphon's emotional turmoil, having so long repressed his own feelings. So he left Sandalphon alone. They never actually spoke, really spoke, about their feelings and desires until the end, when Sandalphon met him in the place where souls go to rest. That was the first time Lucifer understood what it was like for Sandalphon to be alone, waiting for someone.

Lucifer’s appearance is subtle, only shown through small changes in his expression. He’s a rational thinker and is the image of apparent calm, even when Sandalphon threatened the other Primarchs he was cool as a cucumber. He might seem unfeeling and distant because of this, but this calm, passive demeanour hides something deeper. This serenity isn't just any lack of emotion, but rather a show of Lucifer's self-control. His restraint seems deep seated, having spent his whole existence giving priority to his duties over himself and what he feels.

Due to the nature of his responsibilities, Lucifer represses his feelings in order for his duties to be completed smoothly. Whether this is a conscious effort or something he naturally does, in all his long life, he has been stubbornly dutiful and selfless. This mostly streams from the expectations placed on him by his creator, who thought Primals having feelings were just errors in his work, and thus treated them as if they didn't have any feelings. He killed Lucilius to end the thread he had to the world, and he protected the world from the weapon the Astral had made, but he never once expressed a personal desire until his last moments. Lucifer always puts everyone else before himself, always keeps quiet about what he wants or needs. Duty had always come first, until it was no longer his to bear.

Having existed completely apart from mortals, Lucifer is bound to miss or not understand human social cues. He is more likely to take words literally, rather than read between the lines or pick up on sarcasm. It seems like his own emotional repression is part of this difficulty, as he had trouble understanding and reading Sandalphon’s human-like reactions and desires. If one wants to know minute details about how the Sky Realm works, he has that covered. Social interaction on a casual basis however, is something he's had very little amounts of. Therefore, he says what he means to say plainly, that is, of course, if he wants to say it at all. When he doesn’t, he most likely will transition into another topic.

As he’s someone who’s seen as perfect by others, including his enemies, it's no surprise that Lucifer tries to be exactly as the standards placed upon him make him out to be. Lucifer is direct, assertive, and agreeable when he knows what he needs to do or talk about. When it’s something he’s not entirely certain of, he has a tendency to redirect focus on something else. He doesn’t know what it means to live for himself, so he didn’t know what he could do for someone who was trying to live for himself either. Lucifer, thought to be perfect, was flawed, and he didn’t know how to fix those flaws.

Although Lucifer's role has dominated his existence, he loves the world and its inhabitants. He sees the hope and potential that the Sky Realm and everyone in it has, and he trusts in them. Over thousands of years, he has watched the world grow and evolve beyond the need of overseers to guide its way. And so he has allowed himself to hope for a brighter future for that world, even after he's left it. He knows he left it in good hands.

⬢ Powers: As Supreme Primarch, Lucifer is the most powerful being in the Sky Realm. He's made out of the elemental magic of Light, and his powers are mostly concentrated on his core; his wings have the closest second concentration of it. He's strong enough that he can seal the strongest weapon ever made for 2000 years, and still be able to manifest himself in front of others.
Lucifer is stronger than any human, the other four primarchs, and all beasts, as he was created as a weapon.
He has the power of regeneration, is able to heal others, and doesn't age.
Besides all these powers, Lucifer is also very smart.
At the time of his death though, he gave Sandalphon his wings, which means Lucifer now doesn't have any, therefore he's slightly weaker than normal.

⬢ Inventory: His armour, which he wears at all times, no other outfit. A bag of celestial coffee beans.
    This shirt, and this shirt.

    ⬢ Name: Roronoa Zoro
    ⬢ Canon: One Piece
    ⬢ Canon Point: Chapter 978

    ⬢ History: Here

⬢ Personality: Zoro is a very stoic man. He doesn’t like to show his emotions to others, even the people closest to him. He tends to keep a neutral, calming nature no matter the situation he’s in, especially when his crewmates are going crazy. The only emotion he’s willing to share in general is anger, which is often comical with his friends, and fiercely terrifying with his enemies. He tends to scream at the friends when they anger him, specially the cook, who’s only other member his age in the crew. With his enemies, however, he’s eerily quiet, and extremely intimidating.

Even though he enjoys a challenge as much as his friends, he tends to not look for one unless absolutely necessary. He fights when needed to, and enjoys it terribly, but he won’t ever fight for the sake of fighting. It goes against his beliefs. Even though he doesn’t look for them, he never goes easy on any fight he ends up being part of. He will put his biggest effort into the fight, and often, this means hurting himself in the process.

He is completely reckless when it comes to his own safety, caring more about the safety of his loved ones than his own. He leaves everything to fate more often than not. He has suffered a great deal of pain, but he has never once complained, always opting to maintain a calm, accepting mentality. He is willing to hurt his own body if it means saving whatever is left of it and whoever is in danger, as shown in canon when he tried to cut off his own feet in order to defeat an enemy that had him, and two others, trapped. He always comes to the most drastic solution, no matter how simple the problem. Even so, he’s a lot smarter than people give him credit for, always coming up with solutions to other’s problems that, even though drastic in measure, always make more sense than anyone else’s.

He doesn’t get embarrassed easily, but when he does, he voices his concerns pertaining the situation. He tends to not let others see this side of him, which shows his comfort levels with whoever is around him, since he lets his crewmates see him react to embarrassing situations quite naturally.

Zoro is a very proud man, but only when it relates to thing he has accomplished on his own and what his crewmates have done. He takes pride on the titles given to him by the masses, and of the accomplishments of his captain, and of his crew. Even though he and the cook of the crew are always antagonizing each other, he respects everyone equally, including himself. He’s never willing to back away from something, be it a fight or his word, and he never begs anyone for anything, unless it's an extreme circumstance, like begging Mihawk to train him when he was left to his own devices.

He is not the kind to mince his words, so when he says something, he means it, and it often comes out as rude or too straightforward. He says everything as he thinks it is, often receiving negative responses in return, but he doesn’t mind. He believes in telling the truth over anything else, no matter how harsh it might be.

Zoro is very dedicated when it comes to achieving his dream, training as much as he possibly can, sometimes in ways that seem inhuman by others. When he’s not training, he’s resting, or enjoying some time with his friends. He has a very caring attitude with the youngest member of the crew, the doctor, like an older brother figure, always making it really hard for him to say no to the doctor’s orders. This attitude has been shown in more than one way, with animals and kids alike. Unlike adults, kids tend to run towards him, trusting him immediately.

More than anything else, Zoro is fiercely loyal. He joins Luffy’s crew because he trusted the boy, and since the day he declared he’d help Luffy achieve his dream, he’s been by his side, promising to not leave unless Luffy becomes weak willed. He is willing to risk his life for the people he loves, especially Luffy himself. It takes him a while, more than anyone else in his crew actually, to trust someone, but when he does, that trust stays there forever. This is especially shown during fights, where he trusts, more often than not, the cook, Sanji, to cover his back for him, something that is extremely important to him because he believes the back to be the weakest point of attack.

⬢ Powers: A throughout description of all his abilities

⬢ Inventory: Besides his regular green attire, Zoro has three swords (Wado Ichimonji, Sandai Kitetsu, and Enma). He has this other outfit, and in the duffel bag he has the first two shirts.

    Character Info
    ⬢ Name: Osomatsu Matsuno
    ⬢ Canon: Osomatsu-san
⬢ Canon Point: post Eiga no Osomatsu-san (Osomatsu-san the Movie)

    ⬢ History: Osomatsu-kun || Osomatsu-san || Osomatsu-san episode guide || Movie || Osomatsu Matsuno

⬢ Personality: Osomatsu is a loser, plain and simple. Even his name means "lousy." On official merchandise/videos, he's labelled as an idiot. He acts as though he does not pay attention to his surroundings, so he gives off a very carefree attitude. Most of the time, he's as clueless as they come, whether he completely misses a point, or whether he spouts off an insult without meaning to (see: innocently insensitive), and he's pretty much okay with living like that.

Above everything else, Osomatsu wants to enjoy life and have a good time. He loves to joke around, even in serious situations. He's the type of person who wears a big dumb smile and may laugh during a disaster. This doesn't necessarily mean he is mean-spirited. It just means he can find something humorous about any circumstance. He doesn't think before he acts or says something. He just does it, especially if it means that he can have fun in the end.

Osomatsu likes to take things as they come. He doesn't plan ahead, and he rolls with the punches. It's easy to get him to do something, or to go along with an idea (unless he thinks his own idea is better). In the first season, each of the brothers' self-consciousnesses are shown as a sphere. Osomatsu's jiishiki (self-consciousness) is small enough for him to carry around and it is dented. This means he is not out to impress strangers, and he doesn't care about how other people ultimately view him. He has a lot of growing up to do, but he makes the best out of bad situations by being himself. He never tries to be anyone else.

One of the main points in the series is that the Matsuno siblings are adults who have never worked. They live at home and receive an allowance from their parents. Their mother also cooks every meal for them and does their laundry. In a couple episodes, the third-oldest sibling, and the closest to Osomatsu, Choromatsu, brings up getting a job. And Osomatsu tells him that things are fine the way they are. He really likes his life, and loves his brothers. Obviously, he wants a girlfriend, but he would be content to just live off his parents with his brothers for the rest of his life.

Which brings me to the negative aspects of Osomatsu. There are a lot of them. He is an incredibly flawed character. While it can be said that he is usually a happy-go-lucky person, if he gets mad, or things do not go his way, he will become vicious. Osomatsu is a sore loser, so he jumps into verbal fights with insults that hit below the belt. When their parents decide to get a divorce, the Matsuno sons each vie to win over their mother so that she might take them with her when she goes (because the parents would split up the sons). Osomatsu throws himself on the floor and rolls around, yelling about how he wants to be spoiled by his mother still.

Aside from the possible gambling and alcohol addictions, he's not always a nice person. When he was a kid, he played pranks on everyone, and got his brothers to do the same thing (there was a sort of hive-mind thing going on here). This seems typical for a young boy, so perhaps he was forgiven. But, as Osomatsu grew older, he... didn't grow up. He still plays pranks on people, still becomes aggressive if he doesn't get his way, and still attempts to manipulate those around him into getting what he wants. He's a leader, but uses his leadership skills for all the wrong reasons. When his brothers became so sick that they couldn't move from bed, Osomatsu took money from their stashes and said he would use it to buy them food and medicine. He spent all their money on gambling. Stealing seems to be one of his biggest offences, if you also take the game Hesokuri Wars into account; in that game, Osomatsu rallies his brothers together and gets them to steal money from everyone else.

He is also useless around girls, just like most of his other brothers. Despite the easygoing personality, Osomatsu has absolutely no clue about how dating works. There have been several instances in the anime, and in other merchandise (mainly dramas) that clue us in to how he views women or sex in general... It's not good. He thinks going to a mixer means that it is okay to start making out right away, or that just picking up girls means that he can "push her right down onto the floor the first time you meet her." Even the sight of his brother in drag causes Osomatsu to lose his mind. Once when the popularity of his show was being discussed, Osomatsu suggested that there be an orgy, with his fans. I don't think this means he devalues women, because there are other episodes where he places them on a high pedestal. He's just a mess, and most of his experiences with women comes from manga or porn-watching.

Nevertheless, there are certain things that make Osomatsu reliable as a person, and as a big brother. He knows when to admit he's wrong and apologize, and he's very good at manipulating the situation to suit his needs. He has the makings of being a good leader, since he's been known to rally his brothers together. Osomatsu is not an evil person, he just has questionable morals.

Another good thing that Osomatsu's got going for him is that he truly loves his brothers, but that can also be seen as a negative. Because Osomatsu has grown up entirely too close to these other men, he's become too dependent on them. He doesn't want to be separated from them. He does not feel safe when his brothers are not around, and Osomatsu does not know how to be an individual. Certainly, there are times when they annoy him, and he even goes on in an episode about how his brothers are his "five enemies." But, Osomatsu cares about them deeply. He, in fact, may be a bit obsessed with them. Yes, he uses them to meet his own gains every so often, but he wants them all to have fun together in the end. He values their opinions of him, wants them all to like him, wants to be ranked their favorite brother (because Osomatsu knows that each of them has a favorite. they never say anything like this, but you just know, okay?). He knows he's growing up, and he doesn't want to. He's scared of separating from his family, scared of getting a job, scared of making a life on his own. Actually, he probably cannot imagine a life without his brothers.

Osomatsu shows the world that he's as cool as a cucumber on the outside, when, really, he is panicking on the inside. In episode 24 in the first season, Choromatsu finally gets a job, and Osomatsu feels the rug being yanked out from under him. One by one, his brothers leave the house, until Osomatsu is left alone. He becomes quiet and withdrawn, a shadow of what he once was. He doesn't even bid his brothers goodbye (again, he's throwing a tantrum because he isn't getting his way). This is a man who is stubbornly refusing to grow up, who once had all the confidence in the world when he was younger. This guy runs around like he is cock of the walk, while being a mass of nerves and self-doubt just below the surface. Without his brothers, Osomatsu feels like he is nothing.

This feeling is echoed in episode 24 in the second season. After their father winds up hospitalized, Osomatsu is the one who says that the brothers should start trying to become independent, so that his parents stop stressing out. The Matsuno brothers all get jobs, and start separating from each other. Even though Osomatsu is satisfied with getting a paycheck, he still feels empty, like he's lost something. Deep down, he wants to be selfish, and to keep the family together.

While Osomatsu's motivations are difficult to figure out, we get glimpses of why he acts the way he does. No bones about it, Osomatsu is spoiled. He wants to be taken care of by his parents, and his brothers. Osomatsu is very dependent on his family. Why, then, does he treat them poorly when he needs them? He loves to tease and to have fun, sure, but he also wants his brothers to think he is stronger than he actually is. His desire is to keep his family together, selfishly, because he knows that if they split-up, he could very well not endure what lies ahead. He'd be lonely, he'd fall into depression, he'd become a bigger failure than he already is. He's desperate for his own happiness. As mentioned before, Osomatsu doesn't really present himself as anyone other than himself to strangers (he owned up to being a NEET in the movie, while his brothers were lying and telling their fellow graduates that they worked at a hotel). At the same time, he puts on a mask at home so his brothers don't think anything is wrong with him. This ties back to the idea where he shows people that he is confident on the outside, when he is really scared and frustrated about growing up inwardly. So many things are acts, or jokes, with him, all to divert attention from the real issues; that he is far too dependent and doesn't know how to be an adult. Survival and happiness are Osomatsu's goals.

⬢ Powers: Osomatsu is your average Joe Human. He has no super powers, but he does seem to have a few things he is good at. One of those things is leadership. For some reason, this loser is able to get his brothers to do things, whether it's through a half-assed speech, or blackmail, which he is not above doing. He's also extremely lazy, so if he can talk someone else into doing the footwork for him, more power to him. There have been a few instances in canon where Osomatsu's words have influenced his brothers. He tends to call the shots, especially when the others are unsure with how to move forward. In the end of the first season, it was Osomatsu who collected his brothers and brought them back home when they were all separated. This happened near the end of the second season, as well, when Osomatsu told his brothers it was time that they all started working. They all knew that they should do take action in regards to growing up, but it was Osomatsu who finally said it out loud. They all agreed that since their older brother had acknowledged the situation, they had to, as well.

He also really gets his family. He knows what to say when his brothers are upset. In the tenth episode, there is a scene where Osomatsu and Karamatsu are fishing, but Karamatsu is worried about being "painful" (in the series, the word "painful" is used to describe Karamatsu, who is painfully embarrassing). Osomatsu tells Karamatsu that he just needs to be himself, and everyone else needs to get used to his painfulness. He is a pretty good older brother, when he wants to be. He is supportive of Jyushimatsu when he gets a girlfriend, even going as far as not telling Jyushimatsu when he discovered the girl was in an AV.

When women or money are added into the equation, Osomatsu's motivation is increased. He is a man that will do anything for a buck, or for a hug, as was seen in the Rental Girlfriends episode. One skit even has him actually getting a job so that he may be more appealing to his childhood friend, Totoko.

Because he is a gag character, he is constantly abused. Osomatsu has been beaten up, had things thrown at him, and just has taken on a lot of damage. He also gets into fights with his brothers and usually comes out on the losing end, because he is so weak. He is still alive and kicking, despite this. (please don't make me talk about the horse incident) This makes him durable.

(One more thing I should probably mention is fourth-walling, which will absolutely be toned down for the game, if need be. He seems to be aware that he is an anime character, and will now and again make comments about his show. Again, I don't plan on this being a huge deal with him, because he can function without saying things like that, but I thought I should at least add it to his list of powers.)

    ⬢ Name: Osamu Dazai

    ⬢ History: Available here.

⬢ Personality:cw: mentions of suicide, child murder

"Man fears death and yet, at the same time, man is drawn to death. Death is endlessly consumed by men in cities and in literature. It is a singular event in one's life that none may reverse. That is what I desire."

Osamu Dazai is hard to describe, because he's a man of many masks, and no one's quite sure which is his actual face. Is it the slacker, the prankster who shoves all his work off onto his more responsible and reliable coworkers? Is it the ruthless mafia boss that will slaughter those who cross him with an empty smile on his face? Is it the detective who solves problems - who helps people, as he was once told to? Or is it a man who sees pointlessness in existence, yet seeks to make his existence have an impact anyway? No one is quite certain, perhaps not even Dazai himself.

Dazai's first face is a prankster, a goof, a layabout - this is what most people will see when they first meet him. A ridiculous man who delights in teasing others, from his partner Kunikida (by telling him complete nonsense that sounds credible enough to be true, but isn't, then admitting that he was messing with him) to his enemies alike (such as his ex-partner Chuuya, who he teases for having a feminine walk). He's usually able to get under anyone's skin if he tries, but most of the time he doesn't have to try. He just does it.

His second is the mafia boss with no care for anyone. This is a mask Dazai chooses to not wear anymore most of the time, but one he wore constantly in his past. As the youngest boss in the history of the Port Mafia, Dazai earned his position by being as ruthless as he needed to be, seeing it as a means to an end and perhaps not even caring what he caused - he had no care for himself, after all. His fascination with suicide came at that time: he had no care for himself, so the idea of dying a death that he himself caused seemed appealing to him, and he often spoke of it to others with a smile on his face. He also had little to no respect for other mafia members - he has never treated his protégé while in the mafia, Akutagawa, with any hint of respect - to the point of possibly beating him in an attempt to toughen him up for the mafia world (which worked, but gave him a complex to forever wish for Dazai to respect his strength).

It was the death of his closest friend, Oda, that changed him forever. Oda, unlike Dazai, was a caring and sincere man who saw hope in the world - his greatest hope being in a group of orphans he took care of. When these orphans were slaughtered by an enemy of Oda's, Oda sought revenge, but at the same time, one of the last requests he gave to Dazai was to be a better man. To help other people.

This created Dazai's third mask. The careful detective, the problem-solver, the expert. One of the most respected members of the Armed Detective Agency despite his first face showing itself at any opportunity when he's at ease, this mask comes into play when he is on a job. He's very calculating and sly, and sometimes he may seem to have no plan - but he knows things that others do not (such as his initial plan to 'capture the attacking tiger' wherein he seemed to know Atsushi was the tiger in question even before Atsushi himself did). He seems to always have some kind of plan running in the background, and only he knows what it is.

Then the last, the man who sees pointlessness in the world, but seeks to exist in it anyway. Dazai's perceptions of what is 'good' and what is 'evil' are quite skewed, and while he has his motivations for every decision he makes, he feels as though there is a certain pointlessness to the world that takes everything good away eventually anyway, yet he seeks to enjoy it while he has it. He sees all his motivation as things he wants to do, and even his vaguely-defined motivation of 'helping people' is less his own selfless desire to and more on behalf of Oda, who never had the chance to. His outlook could be described as cynical, and thus why he doesn't talk about it much, but it is what it is, he feels.

Even with his skewed mindset, he cares about the people he is close to very deeply. Kunikida is his treasured friend and a constant close bond to him, Atsushi is the same and also someone whom he can mentor, the other members of the agency...even Chuuya, who remains on the side of the Port Mafia, he has a certain bond with - though it is playfully antagonistic at best, at least from his side of things. And of course, he values Oda's words every day. It is perhaps because of his care for others that he seeks to lock them out of knowing too much about him (even the agency had no knowledge of his mafia connections for the longest, to the point of making a game of finding out what Dazai's former employment status was). He keeps others from getting too dangerously close to his heart, and yet aspires to keep people close anyway. It's a tangled web he weaves that makes most of his relationships seem like a 'hedgehog's dilemma' sort of situation - the closer and closer he gets to someone, the more they hurt each other.

⬢ Powers: Dazai is in possession of an ability known as 'No Longer Human'. When physical contact is established, Dazai can nullify any person's powers. However, this does take a bit of energy out of himself, and he has to establish physical contact for it to work. In addition, if a power is nullified, it will come back within a hour's time at most. This is Dazai's greatest weapon, though it cannot nullify things such as deductive abilities or anything that does not count as a superhuman 'ability'. It also makes he himself impervious to abilities, even positive ones - making any healing or enhancement powers moot on him.

In addition, he's fairly trained in guns, and he's decent on his feet, being able to keep pace with anyone in a fight, though in his former partner's words, he is a 'piss-poor hand-to-hand combatant'. His intelligence is also very impressive, though people may not see this on the surface...which is part of his goal. He's conniving and crafty, and a quick-thinker, making him a fairly dangerous opponent indeed with the addition of his natural street smarts thanks to his time in the Port Mafia.

    Character Info
    ⬢ Name: Jyushimatsu Matsuno
    ⬢ Canon: Osomatsu-San
    ⬢ Canon Point: Post-S3 E6 (& the movie)

    ⬢ History: Available here.

⬢ Personality: Jyushimatsu is the fifth of six identical brothers, and often seen as 'the erratic one'. Loud, energetic, and cheerful, Jyushimatsu is almost never seen without a wide smile on his face that is his most defining trait amongst his brothers - it's what makes him unique. He's childish, simple-minded at times, and definitely an eccentric, but he has a good heart, ultimately, and he can be seen as the most 'earnest' of the Matsuno brothers overall.

He is high-energy to a fault. His catchphrase is 'Muscle, muscle! Hustle, hustle!' and that describes what he likes to do best. He's an athlete, and can't sit still for long - his mind is constantly going, going, going, and even he can't always keep up with it. His greatest passion to take out his energy is baseball, and that occupies a good chunk of his brainspace to the point where he'll talk about it for hours in end if he's allowed to. He knows the teams, the scores, the players...well, at least when it comes to the Japanese side of the sport (he'd be thrilled to learn about foreign baseball as well, however), and he has a decent amount of knowledge of other sports as well.

Jyushi is eccentric. Not even his brothers know how to properly define him entirely, and it's shown multiple times that he does things that no one sees coming. From having some sort of weird hidden business deals to the discovery of when his smile formed (somewhere in middle school), his entire brainwave is a bit of a mystery. He himself also delights in the mysteries of the world, and takes a vested interest in things such as the paranormal and things no one else would believe. He would - and has - gone cryptid-hunting when given the chance to, and still thinks the world holds a lot of mystery to it.

He's very childish. More than any of the other brothers, Jyushi is childlike. He wears his hands inside his hoodie sleeves and hardly ever takes them out in a childlike fashion, he has a childish sense of humor (he'll laugh at fart jokes immediately and is liable to make some himself if enabled - don't ask about the Final Fart Rush), and he can relate to children very easily. His most long-term job is babysitting a boy named Eitarou, who aspired to be his 'apprentice'...though he abandoned him in a fit of jealousy when he found out the young boy got a girlfriend, something he himself has never successfully done. He's also got a lot of wonderment to his personality - it is shown in one skit that he still believes in Santa Claus (though in a subversion of what you might expect, for some reason, he believes in him and wishes to capture him for some reason).

Despite this, he does have some deeper thoughts sometimes. It is most often Ichimatsu, his immediate older brother (the 4th of the Matsuno sextuplets) that brings this side of his out, but every now and then he gets oddly existential - asking things such as 'What is a Jyushimatsu?' and other various questions. If someone asked him 'if a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there to hear it, would it still make a sound?' he'd sit down and take an honest think about it with his sleeve pressed to his mouth, his eyes wide with thought. It is suggested that he has serious thoughts on his future, and more beyond his aimless life as a NEET, but he often chooses not to voice these thoughts.

He is caring. It is no coincidence that Jyushi is closest to the most sullen and isolated of his brothers, because he knows how to handle his secretly-gentle heart the best and balances him out. If someone is in trouble, he is most likely the one to reach out, even to no benefit to himself - when he saw a young woman in need of help, nearly drowning at the beach, he dove in to help her, and then tried to make her laugh afterwards. He enjoys playing the part of the comedian and making people laugh because he enjoys seeing their reactions, especially if they're happy.

He also isn't as vengeful as his other brothers - when his youngest brother Todomatsu is shown to be lying about his status to gain the attention of girls at a part-time job, the other brothers seek to make him pay for it, while Jyushimatsu pays no mind to that, opting instead to simply just remark upon how he likes the nickname 'Totty' for him. This doesn't mean he isn't capable of being vengeful, shown when his oldest brother, Osomatsu, requests a massage from him and keeps pretending to die, finally laughing at his reaction and causing him to toss him out the window into a building when he does this for the second time.

However, he is not without greater flaws. His greatest flaw is his temper, and though Jyushi has mostly tamed it as an adult, as a teenager, he was a delinquent, and lashed out at others frequently (though it may have been partially an act). In the present day, this is almost unrecognizable, but his temper does still rise on occasion (such as when his brothers need to turn the heat back on in the cold winter, and he absolutely refuses, lashing out when he is almost forced to do so, forcefully volunteering one of the others, and pretending to be asleep otherwise). He is not unreasonably mad, but if something sets him off, it truly sets him off.

His childishness and eccentric nature can also get him regularly brushed off, but this he pays far less mind to. He's also subject to peer pressure, in a sense, and if his brothers are doing something, chances are he'll join in whether it's good or not. His tact is also lacking, and sometimes he says inappropriate comments when he really, really shouldn't (asking 'is this to announce a porno?' when his childhood friend/crush Totoko is to announce her idol debut, for instance). Ultimately, he is still a Matsuno - a lazy, degenerate NEET - but he is at least probably the most well-intentioned of the brothers....not that that's saying much.

⬢ Powers: Jyushimatsu is functionally, a human. Mostly. Probably? His own brothers even can't really decide on a consensus for this, but it's likely that he is, just a very odd one. He's very much in shape, athletic to the core from playing baseball, almost freakishly so, though he doesn't look it. He's able to swing his brother - a fully-grown adult man - on a baseball bat however, so take that as you will. He's also quite agile, being seen swimming in a river quite fast as well as running very quickly, but his strength namely lies in...well, strength.

He's empathetic and tends to read rooms fairly well, though not always. He's someone you can talk to easily and he'll listen and give his own perspective of advice, but it is coming from him of all people, so your mileage may vary. He also has a smattering of knowledge from anywhere and everywhere, but it's really unpredictable what he knows and what he doesn't know (e.g. he knows odd facts like Mount Rushmore was carved by one man, then after his passing was continued by his son, but when questioned where it is located he may respond '...Shibuya?').

He's very used to taking a lot of punishment - he's a gag character, so naturally he's used to taking in the punches and his endurance level is quite high, though he's not invulnerable. He gets into fights with his brothers frequently, and sometimes wins, but at reasonable costs. He's pretty sturdy.

In more odd powers...Jyushi is pretty much a cryptid himself. Capable of odd feats such as shrinking himself down and splitting himself into tiny copies of himself to physically fight germs (at the cost of those healed ending up basically absorbing his personality in place of the germs) to turning people into kanji due to overthinking, it's not really known what Jyushi can and cannot do, though I'm going to absolutely tone down for the game. The limit of his 'powers' at this point is perhaps maybe accomplishing odd physical feats with things around him subject to the Roger Rabbit rules - he's only capable of it if it's a lighthearted moment, and it's funny.

Much like his older brother Osomatsu, Jyushimatsu is capable of fourth-walling, though this will not be a big part of his character and is noted for completion's sake. He's able to make comments about himself being an anime character and anime logic around him, though he can by and large function without it and I don't plan to bring it up much, if at all.

    ⬢ Name: Yan Qing 燕青
    ⬢ Canon: Fate/Grand Order
    ⬢ Canon Point: before Lostbelt 5, Atlantis/Olympus

⬢ History: The basics are in his profile in the Fate/Grand Order materials, so you can skip most of this and read the last paragraph for the game-relevant parts.
Yan Qing is from the classic Chinese novel Water Margin (a.k.a. Suikoden), a picaresque novel about the outlaws of Liangshan Marsh. Each of these outlaws were the 108 Stars of Destiny: demons reincarnated as humans to find redemption and glory as heroes of Song dynasty China, a land with corruption found at every turn.

One of these outlaws was Yan Qing, the Skillful Star. He was a young orphan taken in by the rich and influential Lu Junyi, who he came to serve under. It was Lu Junyi who paid a tattooist to decorate his skin at an early age. As Lu Junyi's servant, Yan Qing grew up a handsome, witty and charismatic jack-of-all-trades. He was good at anything you could think of, but he was most known for his talents in martial arts, music, and persuasion.

However, Lu Junyi's naivete and refusal to listen to Yan Qing's advice eventually led to their joining the outlaws of Mt. Liang. When Lu Junyi was tricked by the bandits and persuaded to go to Mt. Liang, Yan Qing was thrown out of the house by Lu Junyi's other servant Li Gu, who was having an affair with his master's wife. When Yan Qing informed Lu Junyi of this upon his return, Yan Qing earned the ire of his master and was cast aside. Despite this, the loyal Yan Qing saved his master, who was accused by his wife of a crime he did not commit, and killed his would-be executioners. Branded as criminals, both master and servant had no choice but to join the Liangshan outlaws in the mountains. Lu Junyi was made second-in-command, while Yan Qing was ranked 36th of the 108 Stars.

Yan Qing was an active participant during his time with the outlaws of Mt. Liang, accompanying their leader Song Jiang and their companions on many missions as a scout, messenger and spy. He is often joined by his friend Li Kui, who is his opposite in every way, disguising themselves to help others. Yan Qing's notable feats include winning against a giant in a wrestling match, never missing a mark with his triple-arrowed crossbow, and persuading the courtesan Li Shishi to help him ask the emperor to give the outlaws amnesty.

The outlaws became a special of the emperor's and were sent on missions to defeat invaders and rebels that threatened China. However, trouble was brewing at the capital. Corrupt officials such as their longtime enemy Gao Qiu were plotting to take revenge against the Liangshan outlaws. After the outlaws' successful campaign against the rebel Fang La, Yan Qing foresaw this and tearfully begged his former master Lu Junyi to run away with him. Ignoring Yan Qing’s words once more, Lu Junyi eventually died at the hands of Gao Qiu.

Yan Qing successfully slipped away from the bandits before they reached the capital. No one knows what happened to him after that. Despite the many chapters dedicated to his character, no one ever knew what he truly wanted.

In the Shinjuku singularity, Yan Qing was one of the Servants summoned by Baal and the Archer of Shinjuku, James Moriarty, to aid him in his quest to fight against his meta narrative and successfully destroy the world (for once!). However, a fictional character like Yan Qing can't be summoned normally. Thus, he was fused with the doppelganger, a phantom that eats at his identity, which put him at odds with Moriarty. Yan Qing was the unpredictable leader of a militant group called the Hornets who amassed wealth and power by subjugating the people of lawless Shinjuku with fear and violence. He transformed into Hassan of the Cursed Arm to kill the protagonist, Ritsuka Fujimaru, but ended up kidnapping them on a whim. He was an obstacle to Ritsuka but his plans were ultimately stopped with the help of Saber Alter, Jeanne Alter, Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty (it's complicated).

As Ritsuka's Servant in Chaldea, Yan Qing is a good-humored and loyal servant who does his best to earn his master's trust and his place in the organization.

A summary of his interlude, which is like a side story focused on him! It's in English on Youtube, if you want to make sure of the details here. I'm just lazy.

    ⬢ Personality:

Attentive, reliable, talented, and charming to boot — Yan Qing is everything you'd want in a servant. The protagonist sees him as someone they can trust despite his looks. Or maybe... it's because of his looks!? (No.) But he's only a servant because it was his lot in life, and pushed to a life of crime by circumstance. If he had to be anything else, be it hero or villain, he would choose to be free like the wind. Yan Qing is quick-witted, often using words to weasel out of difficult situations. Like a chameleon, he can adapt to any situation at the drop of a hat. Whatever life throws at him, he is optimistic at best...

...and blithe at worst. Others might think that Yan Qing is too carefree but Moriarty observes that his fun, devil-may-care nature is how he does away with his tragic past. Believing kindness to be a weakness, Yan Qing’s selfishness is a learned behavior. He's been burned many times and has since then fended for himself. Whatever damage he causes is only incidental. Choosing freedom and self-preservation above all else, he doesn't care about anything that doesn't immediately concern him or the people important to him. If he is to have a master, he would rather have a good one who will listen to him. And if they aren't, he'll just have to turn them into the kind of master he likes. Now that he's been summoned into the world, he wants to do things for himself and would do anything to achieve them, even if it means he has to lie, steal and cheat.

Yan Qing is an outlaw, after all, and his type can't be trusted. He amicably warns his Master not to get too close to him, but he soon warms up to them as he honors and deeply appreciates the trust placed in him, who was once doubted and abandoned. That is because he is always, always seeking recognition and approval. He works really hard for it, too! He was rarely ever praised when he was alive, so he's the type to shower himself in compliments to the point of obnoxiousness. But what can be mistaken for arrogance is only a cover. In truth, Yan Qing is ashamed of his past. His lot in life was that of an orphan, a servant, and an outlaw. Trust was something rare for him to give and receive. While he was aware of his competence, his sense of self-worth left much to be desired, especially after his master sacrificed himself for the greater good.

Yet he sees the moment he left Lu Junyi as a betrayal. Despite Lu Junyi's incompetence, Yan Qing didn't really hate his former master. He idolized him, killed for him, and even wished he could exact revenge on his master's murderers. One of his greatest regrets is his master's death. He believes he should have stopped his master even if it meant he had to kill him, as that would have been the more honorable action to take. This is nature as a Star of Destiny, hungry for praise and glory — achievements that he can truly be proud of.

Other Heroic Spirits from legends of old like King Arthur and Medusa were said to truly exist in their time. But as with Heroic Spirits like Holmes and Moriarty, Yan Qing is aware that he only exists in books. Knowing this, he wants to change his narrative and be remembered for something great. He would rather die than lose. Unfortunately, the Doppelganger he's fused with constantly seeks other heroes worthy of becoming, placing it at odds with Yan Qing's desire for his own glory and identity, especially during the events of the Shinjuku singularity.

However, the version Ritsuka summons to Chaldea after that gets along with the insecure and repentant Doppelganger within him. Yan Qing is willing to share his body and identity with it so that it can become a great ruffian who fights for the sake of justice, just like him! Even if Yan Qing doesn't truly think much of himself. If Ritsuka trusts him and believes in him to be good, he thinks he can do anything.

Yan Qing is a man of instinct, driven by his innate desire to do what is right no matter the consequences. He is a dangerous and unpredictable storm, as what does is not always good. More often than not, he is self-serving unless it comes to the needs of his master, and self-destructive when he is consumed by his emotions. He will not hesitate to kill when it serves him purpose; his hands might move before he is even aware of them. Nevertheless, he lives by his own personal code and he'll be damned if he breaks it.

⬢ Powers: Here! Let me know if you want a more mobile-friendly version. What's really important (aside from the Servant and contract stuff) is that he has an ability that lets him turn into other people as well as use their powers or assimilate their memories. By default, I will not have him use player powers or assimilate their memories unless I have player permission.

He will also try very hard not to destroy the library! Books are his family. But his strength will be nerfed as needed, too.

⬢ Inventory: Just the clothes on his back and a couple vials of mystic spinal fluid. It gives humans the ability to use magic for a short period of time. Feel free to nerf this or take it away as needed?! I am cool with it.

    ⬢ Name: Itachi Uchiha
    ⬢ Canon: Naruto
    ⬢ Canon Point: Post-death

    ⬢ History: Here.

⬢ Personality: Very few knew the real Itachi Uchiha before he died. For most of his life, Itachi was exiled from the village where he was raised, hated by his own flesh and blood, spurned by those who once praised him, and feared by everyone else. His childhood had a huge impact on the person he became — or rather, the tool Konoha crafted. His personality reflected the fact he was exposed to the adult world far too soon. Itachi was detached as a child, withdrawn and apart from the desires of his clan even as they placed him on a pedestal, and this continued long into adulthood. Others saw him as single-minded and cold, bent on the destruction of the clan due to his own superiority, but these were only assumptions based on his outward demeanor. It was true he exuded an aloof, analytical, and disconnected attitude. When required to speak, Itachi gave the bare minimum to get his point across; he chose as few words as possible often with deep meaning. After starting at the Academy as a child, he was asked to share his dreams for the future. His response, “to become the best ninja ever and eliminate war from this world,” shocked his teachers and peers. Even at four years old Itachi carried a maturity far beyond the average.

Early on Itachi witnessed the horrors of war, irrevocably blossoming a desire in him for peace. This was the focal point of his entire character. Itachi despised the conflict and violence inherent in the shinobi world. He did not want to fight to kill, and he did not want his beloved younger brother to live in a world where bloodshed ruled. When engaged in combat, he rarely initiated physical violence; he preferred to end a battle as quickly as possible using genjutsu or other techniques. Itachi was at heart a pacifist. Though he became removed and cruel through necessity, isolating himself from the rest of the world, this was not completely his true self. Yet a lack of aggression was not compatible with the shinobi world, and often Itachi resorted to genjutsu to "break" the will of people rather than kill them, even viewing it as a success when his opponents gave up being shinobi as a result.

Itachi was most himself around Sasuke during childhood. There he was allowed to play the role of the caring older brother. He looked after Sasuke, doted on him, protected him against the immeasurable scale their father held them to. That said, he also instilled in his younger brother an undying pursuit for perfectionism that reflected his own. He never praised Sasuke because he didn't want him to believe that improvement was pointless. His love for Sasuke was one the defining characteristics of every decision Itachi made, every aspect of his personality, and every action he carried out. It was unarguably the most important relationship Itachi had while he lived, although it was one colored by blood and revenge and misguided intention. All of his actions put his younger brother before even Konoha itself, but due to his situation, Itachi was forced to behave cruelly toward Sasuke. He believed this was the way to achieve redemption for his own reprehensible acts and make Sasuke a hero.

Obito described Itachi's life as "hell," caught between two forces bent on using him as a weapon to destroy each other, and this wore on Itachi. He began to pull further away from the world, distancing himself from his family and few friends. His outward affection toward his younger brother gradually tapered off into stress and shame. The eventual ultimatum of choosing between Konoha and the Uchiha clan tore away the rest of that childlike innocence. Even if the purpose was altruistic, Itachi eliminated the last of his own emotions in order to go through with massacring his entire family. He put on a persona of glacial disregard for the rest of the world, both to protect himself and to further the lie that he was a villain, to a point where he even believed it of himself.

Itachi continued this way until his death. He roused respect and even intimidation in the other Akatsuki members he worked alongside, with the intention that he would one day die by Sasuke's hand. Kisame Hoshigaki was likely the only member of Akatsuki that Itachi was on decent terms with — they were partners on most missions and developed an understanding and appreciation for each other. The rest of Akatsuki Itachi treated coolly, disassociating himself from their ideals; underneath his cold exterior, he was still concerned for Konoha's safety and Sasuke's protection to an obsessive degree.

Itachi's intelligence and ability were never a question. He could manipulate those he wanted, particularly Sasuke, and inflict harm when necessary. He was highly analytical, working out the best maneuvers in combat with near-immediacy. In his short years at the Academy, he aced his tests due to his ability to perform mental calculations on the spot. When he wasn't training, he was reading everything he could on shinobi techniques, history, politics, and other subjects. Due to the fact he learned from a early age how to reason and think objectively, Itachi was able to perceive the weaknesses of others with incredible skill. Even still, Itachi never bragged or held his abilities over others. He never underestimated his opponents. If there was anything beyond that which led Itachi's existence until his death, it was the thin barrier between truth and deceit. It wasn't until after his death that he was able to reflect upon himself and his life, to the point of recognizing he'd fallen for his own lies. This regret and guilt remained at the core of Itachi's character, and it was further magnified after he was made aware of his own actions.

⬢ Powers: OH BOY BUCKLE IN. There are a lot, so I've tried to summarize them briefly below for easier reading. You can also find them further detailed in the history wiki link.

Genjutsu - These are the illusive abilities Itachi is most well-known for using on his opponents to avoid physical combat. He can twist their perception of the world at whim, manipulating it into mental torture as it suits him. The Sharingan eyes inherent in the Uchiha bloodline further this ability, yet some of the techniques he uses are extremely physically taxing on his body. It is theorized this is what led to his illness and eventual death.

Dojutsu (eye techniques) - This includes the Sharingan born into the Uchiha blood, allowing its user to track chakra, memorize techniques, and facilitate genjutsu illusions. The evolved form of Mangekyou Sharingan takes this even further, although it includes a high price to awaken.

Taijutsu (physical and combat skills) - Itachi's proficiency in this area is 4.5/5. He is adept at body movements and techniques, even going against shinobi much older than he is.

Ninjutsu (martial arts, strategy and tactics) - Itachi's proficiency in this area is 5/5. He is talented with strategy on the spot and is known for his unusual implement of crows as a decoy rather than the traditional tagged log, allowing him to trick and distract his opponents.

Intelligence/Strength/Speed/Hand seals - Itachi's intelligence ranks at 5, his strength at 3.5, his speed at 5, and hand seals at 5. Overall, Itachi is a masterful shinobi with a frightening range of capability at such a young age. He has always been able to pick apart his opponents and analyze situations strategically due to high intelligence, his impressive speed is remarked upon often, and he has memorized countless hand seals far beyond the average. His strength is not perfect, but in a man who excels more at agility and illusions, it's still noteworthy.

Bukijutsu (weapon techniques) - He excels in this area and specializes with shuriken especially, though he also uses a sword in combat (this was his primary weapon while in the ANBU). He can throw weapons at high speed in many different directions and strike his targets dead-on.

Nature transformation - Specifically, Itachi excels at the Fire Release technique. Uchihas possess an affinity for this element in particular. He can breathe fireballs and coat his weapons in fire. He also is shown to use Water Release, if less frequently.

Stamina - This ranks 2.5/5 and is considered Itachi's greatest weakness. He tires easily, and many of his abilities require a great deal of chakra. This is why in many cases Itachi will try to end battles as quickly as possible or otherwise conserve his strength.

The most game breaking abilities would be those associated with higher level Sharingan, where he is able to alter fate/outcomes of situations by messing with time. These are izanami and izanagi separately. I'd expect these to be nerfed (and he wouldn't use these anyway, unless it was a save-the-whole-world situation or something, partly because he'd go blind as a result lol). If there's anything else you think should be nerfed or changed, I'm totally open to it. Itachi's stamina is already fairly low, and overuse will give him symptoms of his illness as a result of accessing stronger abilities, so he has some restrictions already built in.

    ⬢ Name: Misa Amane
    ⬢ Canon: Death Note
⬢ Canon Point: Chapter 56, shortly after making the eye deal a second time with Ryuk.

    ⬢ History: Here!

    ⬢ Personality:

At first glance, Misa is nothing more than a cheerful, peppy girl - lovesick and affectionate, she gives off the vibe of many feminine heroines, but that is definitely not all there is to her.

Admittedly, she is bubbly – someone who is seen laughing and smiling constantly, bursting with youthful charm. She is expressive, always wearing her emotions on her sleeve whether they are smiles, frowns, or pouts. As someone with great social intelligence, Misa is an outgoing and friendly girl, having ease using her charm to befriend (or control people, if need be). She is a notably good actress, proven by both her successful career as a model and actress, as well as her ability to pull information out of people and act under high pressure. Additionally, because of her career as a model, she is quite fashionable and conscious of her physical appearance, giving great care to her style and fitness.

There are many labels that define Misa - lover, model, killer. She is someone who is driven by love - specifically her love for Light Yagami - and it is this love that enables her to find the strength to aid in many of Light's plots as Kira. As a lover, Misa is willing to do anything for the one she loves, putting Light's life before her own and promising to dedicate the rest of her life to him upon first sight, as he responsible for punishing the robber who killed her parents. She is also extremely affectionate, constantly initiating physical contact with Light and the other close acquaintances she has throughout the series.

She follows his will almost blindly, not caring even if he only is using her for her powers. As long as Light wills it, she will inevitably do his bidding, claiming that he doesn't need to ask her to do things, but rather just tell her to do them. In that sense, she is both a loyal and gullible lover, as she never thinks of betraying Light but also never questions his actions nor the treatment she receives from him. In the long run, all Misa longs to do is be of use to him and be helpful to him, in hope that he eventually will love her…she is a bit selfless in her duties to Light, always willing to do anything and everything with little to nothing being given to her in return, whether it be a reciprocation of her feelings or any other mode of exchange.

As is made clear, though, not all of Misa's habits as a lover are healthy. For example, when Light is under suspicion of being Kira, he tells Misa that he will date other girls to avoid being caught with Misa alone - in response to this, Misa threatens to kill any girls she sees with Light. While she loves Light deeply, she also lets her own emotions get in the way of seeing the bigger picture of their plans. Misa never follows through with this, even after stalking Light on these dates that he went on with other girls, but the threat alone is definitely showing of her possessive personality. Her love is all-consuming; everything she does is motivated by this love, and this love is so abnormally strong that it bewilders those around her, considering she barely even knows who Light is. Following the death of her parents, Misa became someone who was desperate to feel close to and loved by someone else - her thankfulness towards "Kira" for punishing the man who killed her parents evolved into an obsessive, corrupted love for Light. She is very fixated on her own idea of romantic love, as well as her idealization of Light as her boyfriend, neither of which are grounded in reality - like all Death Note holders, Misa is corrupted by the Death Note, and it shows in her possessive, impulsive, and self-sacrificial acts when it comes to her relationship with Light.

Because Misa measures her life's worth in relation to how she can be of use to Light, when she isn't able to be useful to him, she is desperate and willing to do anything to continue to have purpose for him - even if it means halving her own lifespan twice. Her obsession with finding a use for her life in serving Light out of love all stems from the death of her parents and feeling that her own life had little purpose after the fact.

Unlike many other characters in the series, Misa's sense of morals seems to revolve more around her own desires than any particular definition of justice, as she is willing to break laws and kill innocent people to achieve her goals. In fact, her actions as the Second Kira are almost all led by Light; her desire to change the world into a place without criminals is, yes, motivated by the death of her parents, but also heavily driven by her desire to follow whatever it is that is Light’s desire. Misa is definitely lacking when it comes to the moral conviction of the other main leads of the series, as she is personally fine with being told what to do and not bothering to consider if something is 'right' or 'wrong' - she, essentially, always sees Light as having the moral high ground, and anyone who opposes him as the unjust. She has no notable remorse towards using the Death Note to kill criminals, though many in her same position may hesitate to take the lives of others, but Misa is driven both by her worshipping of Kira and her love for Light to carry out these killings, and thus, does not consider deeply the moral seriousness of her actions.

In general, Misa tends to be quite impulsive and frivolous, acting on her emotions rather than logical thought. She has a tendency to let her emotions get the best of her; when offended or annoyed, she commonly acts out, resorting to childish and bratty methods to express her displeasure, such as name-calling or physical violence. When angered, she acts on that anger - she is most definitely not someone who always tries to take the high ground. Her impulsivity and proneness to acting on her feelings don’t necessarily mean that she never thinks of the bigger picture at all; she is definitely capable of cleverness and subtlety, as well as acting independently of Light, but it is also evident that many of her actions are the result of her spur-of-the-moment feelings.

This reactive quality of her's is both a weakness and a strength; while she does not get caught up in thinking up convoluted plans or finding the perfect way to solve a problem, she is prone to making errors in her tendency to be quick to take action - many of the errors that she makes throughout the series (leaving physical evidence behind, burning bridges with allies, etc.) are a result of her impulsiveness rather than a lack of intelligence, though it is true that she is no genius when it comes to academia. Her lack of foresight is definitely a severe downfall, though her ability to act independently and make up plans on the fly sets her apart from the complicated planners that make up the series' cast.

Another notable trait is that she has astounding mental strength and perseverance. She is capable of withstanding great tragedy and traumatic situations, and seldom lets any mental weakness show - she is someone who can sit with any pain so long as she has something to cling onto. Not just anyone can sit through nearly two months of solitary confinement and come out as bright as she is; Misa is definitely someone who is able to endure, someone who won't yield in the face of tragedy nor torture as long as her life has purpose.

As a whole, Misa is someone steered by love and devotion. A successful idol and an equally successful killer, she is much, much more than meets the eye.

    ⬢ Powers:

    SHINIGAMI EYES
Misa has the eyes of a Shinigami, meaning that she is able to see the names and lifespans of humans (and some non-humans) just by looking at them. However, because lifespans appear just as long lists of numbers and are only decipherable by a Shinigami themself, she cannot understand how much longer anyone has to live. Additionally, she cannot see her own lifespan, nor the lifespans of Shinigami or other Death Note users. While stylistically in the series, her eyes are shown to glimmer when she uses this ability, in reality it is impossible to tell that she is using or even has this ability, as her eyes appear regularly.

In addition to being able to see the names and lifespans of people, her eyesight was also enhanced by the eyes - her sight is 3.6 times the quality that it was before she got them, giving her the visual acuity of about 72/20. This means that her eyesight is unnaturally accurate, and that she is able to see the faces and names of people from quite far distances away. With such accurate eyesight, it's also easy for her to notice small details that someone with regular eyesight may not notice.

Here is a diagram of how much she must see of someone to see their name and lifespan. While she can also see someone's name and lifespan through a photograph or a video, it isn't possible to do so through a drawing of someone alone. Lastly, she cannot see the names or lifespans of people who are already dead, as she will see nothing when she looks at them.

    DEATH NOTE
Her only other supernatural ability comes from her Death Note, which essentially is a notebook that is capable of killing anyone who's name is written inside of it. The notebook's powers allow the writer to specify the time and cause of death so long as they are written within a certain amount of time, and of course, as long as the full name of the person is written (while the face of said person is in the writer's mind). There are many rules to the Death Note, which can be found in a more organized form here.

    — The clothes she's wearing here
    — A purse containing miscellaneous beauty products (foundation compact, mascara, lip gloss, mirror, comb)

    ⬢ Name: Tseng
⬢ Canon: Final Fantasy VII (Remake)
⬢ Canon Point: At the end of Remake part one, after Rufus Shinra has become the president of the Shinra company.

    ⬢ History: link

    ⬢ Personality:
CONFIDENT, CALM. Tseng comes off with a calm confidence that speaks as though he is in control of everything around him. His movements are just as smooth: he walks carefully and with a purpose, he speaks in a clear, concise tone, and he doesn't stumble over his words or hesitate in his actions. This is probably due, in large part, to the extensive experience he has in various dangerous and high-stress situations. He carries himself with a certain grace and maturity that makes it seem as though he's perhaps impossible to be frazzled, and even in situations where it may seem like there is no way out, he still holds himself to a certain degree of class. Although it may seem as though his emotions are carefully hidden behind this confident exterior, he has been known to reach levels of emotional outburst if his tolerance reaches the breaking point.

CAPABLE, RELIABLE. He is capable of being a commanding, determined leader. He is very skilled at what he does, and good at managing a variety of different employees with high levels of success. He constantly functions in an environment which can be incredibly variable, with multiple high-stress situations that can appear suddenly, and yet he doesn't falter in his decision making and is the type of person that one would be grateful to have with them in a crisis. He often has to make difficult decisions or come up with tactical plans for missions, as well as maintaining the other Turks. He is the type that seems incredibly responsible, as though one could ask him for help with anything and not be let down. He also comes off as very reliable and steady.

RESILIENT, ADAPTABLE. Tseng is almost like the cockroach living under the refrigerator: no matter how much danger he comes into contact with, despite multiple injuries and fractured emotional trauma, he still makes it out of it alive somehow. He has managed to survive a myriad of difficult and dangerous situations, such as fights with villains in his canon and environmental disasters. He can endure these things, as well as the violence and other trauma he's been subjected to by the nature of his line of work. Because of this kind of exposure, Tseng can come off as slightly cool or reserved at times, as he's so used to dangerous situations that he may view them in a more tactical or logical headspace, rather than as something emotional.

DISHONEST, MANIPULATIVE. Tseng has obviously greatly benefited from his ability to both tell and get away with lies. He does not necessarily mind operating with a certain level of manipulation in order to get what he wants or needs out of others. He is incredibly talented at warping his words to make others feel a certain way, or do whatever it is he would like them to do. He doesn't expose the motivations for his behavior easily, often operating under the guise of doing what is best for the Shinra company or the world at large, so it can be very hard to figure out why he is acting the way he is, or what his ulterior motives may be. However, the burden of this ability is that he is forced to live with, and under, many of his own big lies, which can be a lonely burden to endure.

DETAIL-ORIENTED. It's easy enough to see from the outside that Tseng is a very clean cut individual. His suit is neatly tailored to fit his body, and there is nothing particularly flashy or different about it, especially compared to his underlings. His writing is also noted for being very neat and tidy. He's the type who would have a very pristine apartment, to the point of it hardly looking lived in at all. He appears to be the type who likes to have things organized, and while he's capable of dealing with chaos, he doesn't necessarily enjoy it or thrive in such a state. Rather, it would become a point of stress to clean up messes, professional or otherwise, and deal with difficulties like that, and he's the type to get annoyed that things aren't or weren't done right from the beginning.

EMOTIONAL. Although he has a steady grip on his emotions, there are times that they can get him into trouble, and at times can interfere with his work or cloud his judgement and decision making. He may risk certain things for the sake of the lives of others, especially those that he cares about. Though his job requires a certain level of ruthlessness, he does not necessarily choose the bloody route every time if there is a chance to spare lives. He believes in a certain level of balance between life and death, and feels some moral obligations to friends or those that he knows or believes to be good. As such, he can be soft-hearted for those he cares about, though it takes special circumstances for those feelings to show.

    ⬢ Powers:

Tseng is the leader of the Turks, the investigative department within the Shinra company. They engage in various missions involving reconnaissance and espionage, kidnappings, assassinations, and also scouting for potential SOLDIER candidates. He is highly skilled at combat, especially with the use of guns. He can handle himself in a fight, although he would prefer to leave that sort of work to the other members of his team. He is capable of wielding and using materia, though he will not have any on his person outside of the Full Heal materia. He is very resourceful and good at gathering information and making connections.

    ⬢ Inventory:
    Primary outfit.
    — A second, casual outfit.
    — A pistol, fully loaded.
    — A full-heal materia.
    — His cellphone.
    — A pristine leather wallet, with various cards and gil inside.
    — Library shirts 1 & 2.

    ⬢ Name: Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd
⬢ Canon: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
⬢ Canon Point: Post-game, Azure Moon route, prior to any epilogues having taken place.

⬢ History: HERE. Reference "Azure Moon" for the route Dimitri hails from.

    ⬢ Personality:

(cw: mentions of violent murder, survivor’s guilt, and ptsd symptoms)

On the continent of Fódlan, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus is renowned for its knights. Representative of chivalry, loyalty, and honor, the Blaiddyd royal family is also expected to reflect, if not encapsulate, these traits tenfold. Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd, whose narrative begins as the crown prince of the nation, is emblematic of these expectations — well-spoken, earnest, instilled with a sense of duty and a seemingly unwavering moral compass. Loyal, helpful, and studious, he possesses no inclination to lord his title over others, but instead understands the obligation he's under to aid his peers, friends, and country. The archetypical prince, one might think, with all the archetypical traits that go along with it, without noticeable fault.

And to a reasonable degree, none of this is an exaggeration. Dimitri is as described, subverting initial expectations of keeping up royal appearances. He is honest and earnest almost to a fault, often speaking his mind to their Professor, Byleth, whether it’s commenting on their assigned monthly missions or seeking advice. Unerringly loyal and defined by a rather stark view of moral lines and where they should not be crossed, he is quick to share his opinion of this much, as well, and possesses a very strong sense of disdain against those who would abuse their power to take advantage of the weak. He carries himself well, constantly looking to improve himself in an academic setting — especially in matters of warfare or personal training — and there is very little he will not offer to others before tending to his own needs. Even his glancing faults, such as his inability to perform delicate work, or to handle heated temperatures, or his sometimes too-serious demeanor, are often readily admitted to by none other than Dimitri. Though he paints a perfect picture of himself in the beginning, he will be the first to say that he is decidedly not; this is proof of his straightforward nature, if not a splash of foreshadowing of what is to come.

When asked by Byleth to tell them about himself, Dimitri does not mention any of the above, but rather references the tragedy of his past, hoping that they can see beyond it regardless. While the narrative carries forward despite this, it is admittedly odd for a person to define themselves by one singular terrible event. It soon becomes apparent why that is, the truth of the matter simple: Dimitri does more than just define himself by the tragedy that stole his friends and family from him, he allows it to utterly subsume him, instilling traits and motivations that he is never dishonest about, though they require external factors to illuminate.

Years prior to the start of the game, Dimitri bore witness to the murder of his family, friends, and many knights loyal to the Kingdom in an event called the Tragedy of Duscur. The sole royal survivor of this regicidal, successful assassination attempt, he watched helplessly as his friends were cruelly slaughtered, his father decapitated, and everything around him set aflame to burn. This left Dimitri highly traumatized and plagued with survivor’s guilt, experiencing its effects for the years following. From either the stress or injuries obtained (or more likely both), he was left with no sense of taste and intermittent headaches. He suffered from nightmares, hampering his sleep. He began to recall with clarity the agonized voices of the dead, sometimes even hallucinating them in his waking hours, and intermingled with poignant guilt, these same voices and visions began to ask him what right he had to survive, and how he might correct their wrongful slaughter by the procuring vengeance against those who murdered them in order to finally seek closure.

This is where Dimitri’s greatest flaw lies — his guilt. He does not believe himself worthy of having survived, and processes the onus of being alive by satisfying (what his mind perceives as) the desires of the dead. At his core, this deep-seated guilt and his uselessness during the Tragedy of Duscur manifest as self-loathing and deprecation, but are similarly connected to his positive traits mentioned prior; he is studious, eager to improve, so he can exact his vengeance more effectively when the opportunity presents itself. He despises those who trample over the weak, giving them no moral leeway, because he had once been in the shoes of someone young, weak, and unable to fight back. He puts his friends ahead of himself, going to great lengths to aid them if necessary, as a consequence of believing he does not deserve the same effort. Borrowing the anger of the dead, Dimitri later states that it was the only motivation that kept him living, despite quietly keeping the majority of all that ails him to himself. He is conscientious of how unflattering it is, cognizant enough to not let it all spill out in an ugly mess, but it yet remains deeply affecting.

These two sides of the young man — the chivalrous prince and the silently suffering survivor — may seem contradictory, but they are both legitimate halves of Dimitri. In fact, as the story progresses, the pendulum swings from one side to the other. After the Remire mission, having watched innocents killed and the village set on fire, his composure begins to fray. Dimitri's classmates remark on his ailing appearance (he is suffering again from constant headaches), and he is dead-set on killing those responsible, the idea itself bringing him satisfaction. And with the reveal of Edelgard as the Flame Emperor, working in-tandem with those he believed had a hand in murdering his friends and family, his goal of revenge resurfaces as something close and obtainable, causing him to disregard all else. Delighted at the idea of finally quelling the expectations and voices in his mind, his anger at Edelgard’s betrayal mixes with this perpetual goal, turning him brutal in his pursuit of it. Stubborn and determined, we see this shift with jarring clarity, something having once lain dormant but now brought forth via opportunity.

Unfortunately, the events that followed continued to take their toll on Dimitri’s psyche. Faced with years of isolation, having severed himself from any support system via circumstances and choice, his vengeance unsatisfied, Dimitri becomes colder, crueler, and believes he has no reason to live beyond killing those he deems as monsters through the years in countless number, ranging from bandits and thieves to Imperial forces. Aware that this makes him no better than a monster himself, Dimitri simply accepts this reality, which throws him deeper into bouts of guilt, self-loathing, and depression; the voices become louder over the years, more likely to manifest as waking apparitions. When Byleth and his old comrades find him years later, he is quite the broken man — he views his friends as nothing more than tools to further his motivations, uncaring and unwilling to return to his responsibilities as rightful heir. He refuses to form personal connections (this is even reflected in gameplay, where he will not further supports with anyone), treats his allies coldly, throws himself into danger with more fervor than before, and admits openly of his hatred for Edelgard and the Empire.

It takes months for this to change, and only with the application of constant concern and questioning from the Professor and his allies. Even then, it requires yet one more traumatic event for Dimitri to clearly register — and care about — the true consequences of his actions. After Rodrigue gives his life to protect him, making it obvious that the young royal's actions are affecting more than just himself, Dimitri hits a second breaking point, questioning whether or not he has a right to live after all he’s done. He is told to forgive himself, something he never once a considered in the past, so that he might move on and choose to look towards the future instead of chained to the will of the dead. With the aid of the Professor and his friends to pull him out of the mire, Dimitri decides not only to live for himself, but to atone for the years of blood on his hands and the neglect of his duty to his Kingdom.

This does not erase his trauma, nor his guilt, so much as it grants him a lifeline that pulls him forward so he does not drown in it. He still lives with the voices, still admits to hearing their cries for blood, still has trouble sleeping. But given something to live for, defined now by his want to atone and be a good man, Dimitri’s determination shifts from self-centered revenge to trying to do right, to be a good leader, by everyone. He arguably trades one responsibility out for another, but at least this one allows him to grow as a person rather than remain lost in the memory of the past.

It is this Dimitri that we are left with, a balance between his teenage self and the man who wanted nothing more than to spill the blood of his enemies. He has shifted back to retaining his more positive attributes; earnest but more somber than before, steadfast in his beliefs and accepting of the role he must play for the sake of his people and nation. And though even he will admit that he still feels anger and hatred towards Edelgard and those who wronged him, Dimitri even attempts to reconcile their opposing views, offering her an olive branch before the final encounter. It's a gesture he never would have considered before, showing just how much he's willing to turn away from the dark path he tread, even if he can still feel the demons at his back. He's a little sadder, a little more exhausted from the passage of unkind years, but he's also willing to put in the effort to make up for his missteps and guide his Kingdom to peace and prosperity. In general, his most important character shift is his focus from revenge to atonement, granting Dimitri differing motivations if not the same determination to see it through to the end.

And though he at times remains uncertain, still feeling unworthy and guilty despite the forgiveness he has granted himself, Dimitri takes solace in knowing that it’s not a path he would have to walk alone — proven to him again and again by his comrades-in-arms and closest friends.

    ⬢ Powers:
THE TEMPEST KING — Dimitri is very skilled with both the lance/spear/polearm and sword, though he shows a clear preference for the first archetype. In canon, during the years in which he roamed the land killing Imperial soldiers, he cultivated a rather infamous reputation of being a One Man Army. As such, he is able to take on multiple trained opponents at a time, relying on both his skill and strength to come out on top — and if not that, at least remains a stubbornly durable and challenging opponent against any he might meet in battle. He is also knowledgable about weapons in general (barring anything too modern, of course), one of his interests being their upkeep and histories.

STRENGTH — A trait passed down through the royal bloodline, Dimitri possesses inordinate strength, bordering on superhuman. It is the reason why he dislikes delicate work, because he is always breaking the items required to perform these tasks. It is mentioned in-game that he can easily lift wagons on his own, that his boyhood training encapsulated that he run around in the woods all night in heavy armor, and that he once snapped a sword in two by swinging it too hard when he was just a child. His dialogue in the Fire Emblem: Heroes mobile game reveals that he could easily snap his lance in half by merely becoming startled. While “look at Dimitri break everything” is utilized more as a running joke, it does accurately reflect this same strength seen in battle. Thankfully, he is able to mostly keep it under control outside of it occasionally hampering his daily activities as per Rule of Funny.

MINOR CREST OF BLAIDDYD — Another trait passed down through the Blaiddyd bloodline, Dimitri possesses a minor Crest bearing his family name. Though not a passive ability, it does grant him a special attribute in battle when it “activates”. Dimitri’s crest occasionally doubles his attack in-game; in RP terms, this means that his already substantial strength becomes borderline monstrous with a single strike directed at an object or enemy. This boon only applies once per attack, and activates at random intervals. To make it easier for myself and others, I would prefer to play it as activating only during particularly intense situations in the middle of battle, and limited to once per confrontation. As explained below, his Crest also synergizes with his lance, Areadbhar.

AREADBHAR — While his lance functions exactly as a lance would, in Dimitri’s hands (in conjunction with his Crest) its latent power activates, granting him the ability to use the combat art “Atrocity”, which deals high damage against all enemy types. Again, translating this into RP, this would cause some of Dimitri’s strikes with Areadbhar, specifically, to land harder and deal more serious damage than normal. This is an ability he would be able to activate when he chooses, though OOCly I would like to keep it limited to infrequent use per “scene”.

LEADERSHIP — Not really a power, per see, but worth mentioning. As King of Faerghus, and previously its crown prince, Dimitri has grown up under the expectation of one day becoming a leader, and he fits that mould well. He is well-spoken and, when assured and determined, charismatic enough to lead many into battle with him. Though he would not describe himself as such, he is even accused of possessing a silver tongue, and will rally forth motivation to fight for a cause when it's needed the most.

HORSEBACK RIDING — Dimitri is a skilled rider. If this ever comes into play, he can fight competently from horseback with a lance, granting him more mobility.

    ⬢ Inventory:
  • Areadbhar, his personal lance, with its abilities detailed above.
  • A small whetstone.
  • His clothing and armor.
  • I would like options 1 and 2 for his t-shirts, please!
  • As for his second outfit, something casual much like this! White long sleeved button-up shirt/high waisted trousers/simple boots combo.

⬢ History: General Setting and Story. Just as a note, Mira's adventure begins in 2.0 (A Realm Reborn) so anything from 1.x is not in her story.

    A Realm Reborn Story
    Heavensward Story
    Stormblood Story
    Shadowbringers Story

    Before A Realm Reborn:

Mira was born in Ishgard in the lowest section known as the Brume, also the poorest area. Her mother Emma was a maid and her father Walden was a botanist. When she was a baby, Walden was killed as he was on a job by a group of cloudkin (flying monsters), leaving Emma to care for the newborn on her own. Now she was definitely a working mother; doing her job while keeping an eye on baby Mira until she was old enough to start attending school in Foundation. However, the education was not as high quality as those living in the Pillars received, only having one teacher for over forty children as well as only having one room and very little tomes to learn from. But it was here that Mira’s world began to expand.

Even with as many children at the school, Mira was rather quiet and kept to herself. She had no siblings or any relatives therefore, it was hard for her to socialize. There were moments when she wanted to try and play with the boys but because she was a girl, they didn’t believe she could make a good knight, even if it was pretend. And the girls thought her strange because she was bored with their own games. So she found herself staying inside the classroom and reading over the books within. Not much reading material but it kept her occupied. It was her teacher who caught her reading one cold afternoon and came to her the next day with a small book of Ishgardian tales. She had to force some of the children to read the tales most of the time and here was this girl who liked it for the most part.

Most stories in that faerie tale book was of knights saving the land from an evil dragon but one of them had the gallant knight face off against a ‘dark knight’. It was the first time Mira had heard of such a figure and when she asked her teacher, she was immediately hushed and told not to speak of it. This didn’t help someone who was nine years old and curiosity got the best of her; it was when her mother asked her to deliver a small parcel to the barkeep on the lower level of the Forgotten Knight that she heard a couple of men speak into their cups about knights who abandon the shield and take on a large sword with two hands. That they do not listen nor follow the highborn, choosing to help their fellow man instead. No greater glory nor any kind of higher status to Halone, just people wishing to make a difference. And it was this that stuck with Mira: someday, she will become a dark knight and help her home be good.

Next time she tried to play with the boys during their free time at lessons and they tried to belittle her about not being the right gender for knighthood, Mira instead picked up a stick twice her size and declared that if she could not be as they wish, then she would become a dark knight instead. And proceeded to bonk them all with said stick. Sure, she got into trouble and the adults had to tell her not to talk about the mysterious men who do not use shields, her thoughts on them never ceased.

This was for most of Mira’s life until she was sixteen years old, old enough to work and help support her and her mother. And because she learned all she could from the school, her mother knew that her daughter wanted to do good by her and she agreed to speak with her employers and give her a position. However, while Mira did her work just fine, she always found herself being bored and slacking. It wasn’t until her former teacher came to her and told her of a bookbinder in Foundation named Ashaut who is looking for an assistant to help him out. Naturally the work will get her paid and Mira immediately took the position. Her boss was impressed with how diligent she was during her training and the care she put into the books, treating them as if they were precious treasures. Mira was caught often reading the tomes and her boss always asked why. To their surprise, she replied that she always felt like she learned more by reading them. That they make her happy. Her boss was not used to hearing such words with most of the population placing their faith in Halone and her words. However, as the months went by, the books became more of the same and the bookbinder noticed that his assistant while helpful, seemed to be missing something.

One day as they were closing up for the night, Ashaut asked Mira a question that would change the woman’s perspective: “What do you seek in life?” Right away, Mira answered that she wanted to make sure her mother had a secure life but he didn’t believe her because she did not answer for herself. Mira was unable to answer until the Calamity hit and the land around them turned into a never ending winter. Despite Mira saving up so she and her mother can get a better place to live within Foundation, Emma decided against it. She had spoken with Ashaut and learned of the question he asked her “What do you seek in life?” and answered with that she does not want her daughter to simply die in Ishgard and waste everything away that she’s learned and what she is willing to. It was Emma and Ashaut who suggested that Mira try becoming an adventurer to figure out what she wants from her life. The problem was that Mira could not think of any skills in her possession that would be useful for adventuring.

Cue Ashaut pulling out an old weathered grimoire for beginners and gifting it to her. His reasoning was because she loved books and took in select knowledge rather quickly, maybe this would be a good starting point. Now Gridania would have been an ideal starting place considering how close it was to Ishgard but Mira decided to go further...to the seas of La Noscea and to the city-state of Limsa Lominsa where she would begin the adventure of a lifetime as a fledgling arcanist.

    ⬢ Personality:

You know those people who are usually pretty quiet with a nose stuck in a book? That's Mira on first glance. She can be seen as a quiet person who only focuses on the pages in front of her and ignore the world around her. That is until someone decides to do something that can either tear the book from her hands or some idiot decides to pick on some defenseless person, assuming that it's better for them. Usually it's the second one and it ends up with the guy getting her boot up their butt. Mira is someone who doesn't like it when others get bullied for no apparent reason or for some shitty reason such as status, following the ideal of the dark knight, which is to protect the weak from those who would oppress them. She holds the ideals of courage and compassion for her fellow man to be desirable traits for herself and tries to be the best person she can be. She also adores learning new things and is willing to try them out at least once to see if it's something worth pursuing. However, Mira knows she's far from perfect and she even has her own vices such as getting bored too easily and can be blunt when it's not needed or feel petty when she feels like she's been wronged on occasion.

What drives her to be a dark knight is compassion for her fellow downtrodden man and the need to protect others. Having grown up in the Brume, she's no stranger to the highborns looking down on those who live there and see nothing but vermin. She's used to the knights doing nothing to aid those less fortunate and focus more on the nobility and those considered better. It's why she is so drawn to the Job of Dark Knight: they are considered the true heroes who protect the weak (prior to Heavensward, thank you Aymeric for being such a good boy) but do not follow the set rules of society because why should they? But Mira has also shown these traits throughout her journey as an adventurer and as the Warrior of Light and Darkness: she's stood up for a poor woman in Ul'dah when a greedy merchant was trying to get her to work for him after accusing her of stealing, she's defended a young woman from the Brume after she told off some corrupt Temple Knights, and even saved people from being tempered by primals on a few occasions (Lakshimi in 4.1 for example during a conference in Ala Mhigo). She cares about people and despite Fray (her inner struggle and technically another side to her, feel free to insert your Persona jokes here) protesting and ranting when she doesn't get the proper thanks, she still goes off to help no matter what.

It's not like she can simply ignore a cry in need, that's not in her ideals. That's not what a dark knight does. Courage also goes in hand with compassion; you need to care about what you do and despite times where Mira wants to throw her hands up at how Done she can be at the state of the world, she does what she does because she cares about people. Where she grew up, most didn't really have dreams and ambitions, knowing that they would simply wither away and die in the end. If she didn't have compassion, she wouldn't have wanted to get to know people such as letting Minfilia of the First (later called Ryne) come with her for patrols or even give her comfort when Thancred was being a dumb idiot when she was worried about not being 'his' Minfilia. She wouldn't have wanted to help protect Rielle from her Halone-crazed mother trying to kill her(Dark Knight 50-60 questline) or be there for Arya when she wants to strive to be as strong as Mira (Red Mage questline).

Mira loves to learn about anything different than what she is used to. It's why she's usually with a book under her arm as well as her greatsword because it was the simple books in the school in Foundation that got her to love the written word. While her favorites are faerie tales and myths, if it's new and interesting, she will gravitate towards it and would want to try it at least once. You only have one life so why not fill your mind with as much as you can, right? Because Ishgard was so insular prior to Heavensward, anything that didn't involve Halone or fighting dragons was considered a treat for Mira and the need just grew. It's because of this need that led her out of Ishgard after the Calamity and became an adventurer: to see and learn new things.

But despite all of this, she is definitely prone to being bored. Mira always needs to be occupied with something, whether it's reading or doing some sort of busywork that will challenge her. As mentioned in her backstory, while working for the same person her mother did, she did do her work but she was usually caught slacking or just bored out of her skull. She's someone who needs a challenge otherwise being bored will lead to things that will not bore her, usually in the dangerous sense. Like trying jumping puzzles in Kugane that are so small she would probably fall from making a wrong step or trying to get a Hunt mark too strong for her.

She's also known to be a bit blunt at times, learned from her time with Fray. As much as she loves to help people, she would like to be appreciated and not taken advantaged of. While getting the goods from a merchant, they were angry that it did not come back in the best condition and demanded Mira pay him for the damages. Fray then wasn't happy as they started yelling about how they went out of their way to help and with minimal damage done and how the guy should be grateful that they actually helped out. In reality, no one could see Fray but Mira...and it was her unknowingly yelling at the merchant. She will teach people not to take advantage of her otherwise the results will not be so pretty; during a side quest in Shadowbringers, a young man took advantage of the kind nature of Mira and got her to do the dirty work of fighting monsters for some crystal needed because he was bored. When she found out and got the reward, there was a choice whether to give the well earned bottle of ale to the man...or smash the bottle in front of him.

Yeah, Mira was petty enough to smash it in front of him.

Overall, Mira is a book nerd who loves to learn new things and has compassion for her fellow man most of the time. Her ideals stem from what a dark knight should be (none of the edgy angsty bullshit, Sid) such as protecting the weak and courage to face any trial that comes her way through her adventures. But there are even limits to Mira's kindness and if someone decides to overstep them, she will show them why it's never a good idea.

    ⬢ Powers:

    Combat:

Dark Knight- The vigilante types so to speak. Dark knights are basically tank classes who use a giant two handed sword and channels magic through it, mostly of the dark kind.

Red Mage- Using both black and white mana, a red mage can cast both white and black magic at a rapid pace but uses a rapier and stone to channel their aether. Unlike black and white magic which has its own sources, red magic is more focused on the aether of the caster.

Machinist- The power of *GUN*. Machinists use one handed guns as well as various types of machines such as a turret or even a large automaton called the Automaton Queen.

Summoner- Summoners having bathed in the aether of primals (by fighting them) can summon smaller versions called 'egis' to fight alongside with them. Uses tomes as their weapon. Only one egi or carby can be out at a time.

The Echo: A special ability that shows the user is one of the Mothercrystal's Blessed...or so everyone assumed until Shadowbringers. It was revealed in Echoes of a Fallen Star that the Echo is actually remnants an ability from the Ancients that every Sundered soul has deep down and can be activated by witnessing a very traumatizing event; in this case, seeing falling stars from the End of Days like the Ancients. It can translate any language known (but cannot speak it, just understand) as well as protects the user from tempering and mind control from enemies. In Stormblood and Shadowbringers, it has been seen to create a barrier around the Echo user and anyone near them and shields them from tempering. With the Echo, she can be pulled into seeing the memories of someone's past. She cannot trigger it on her own and it happens at the weirdest times. The Echo also gives her a bit of a boost in endurance, being able to take a few more hits than the typical person. Due to how it is, I will have a permission post for anyone who wants to interact or not interact with this power.

Kojin's Blessing: Due to the Kojin's Blessing, Mira is able to breathe underwater as if she were on land.

    NOTES:
-While Mira knows four Jobs, she CANNOT change them in the middle of battle. If she's one Job during one fight, she only has access to those skills during it. Basically, if she's a Dark Knight, she can't use the skills of her other Jobs.
-Job Crystals while help with basic techniques, it's up to the person who owns said crystal to train their butt off to do well in that Job.
-Personally, I am okay with discussing how these powers will go with the mod team.

⬢ Inventory: -Outfit she arrives in.
    -Second Outfit
    -Stone of Azem
-Job Crystals for Dark Knight, Machinist, Red Mage, Summoner
-Two 'well loved' (see: old) books: one on Ishgardian faerie tales and another involves the origins of the dark knight
-Shirts 2 and 3 of the given list. They're the more nerdy of the bunch and for a book lover like Mira, more fitting.

    Weapons for the Case:
    -Shadowbringer
    -Fomalhaut
    -Aeneas
    -Meteorologica

    ⬢ Name: Rufus Shinra
    ⬢ Canon: Final Fantasy VII
⬢ Canon Point: just after Advent Children

⬢ History: the man who ruled the world

⬢ Personality: Rufus is the heir of the Shinra Corporation and that has shaped the person he is. He's ambitious, willing to do anything he has to in order to get what he wants. As a teenager, he managed to fund enemy terrorists just so he could usurp his father's position as the head of Shinra. That ambition has stayed with him as an adult- he's willing to sacrifice anything and everyone for his own purposes.

He is fearless in going after his goals even in the face of defeat or overwhelming odds. When Diamond Weapon fires at the Shinra tower, Rufus stares down the blast, only raising his arms to shield himself when the window is shattered. When kidnapped, he takes every opportunity to fight back against his captures even when gravely injured. In Advent Children, he throws himself off of a building to fire on Kadaj on the way down. One of his Turks remarks that he's like a cat, he has nine lives and always manages to survive against all odds.

Rufus careful about the facade he presents to the world. Image is everything to him and Aerith's comment mentioning the fact no one has seen him cry or bleed is a part of that carefully constructed presentation. His father was hard on Rufus as he expected him to be someone worthy of being handed an empire. Rufus would never admit defeat, he does everything on his own terms. He does have his weaknesses though he may try to hide them. When he was a teenager trying to overthrow his father, Rufus was prone to arrogance which leads to him being outed as the traitor. As an adult, he is ambitious to a fault and that causes him to be arrogant which led to his own downfall.

Rufus is often manipulative and uses people like pawns on his little chessboard. He prefers to use fear to control people- he uses the public's fear of Sephiroth and paints Avalanche as a terrorist group to justify what he does. He doesn't spare the feelings of those around him, even going so far as dealing out biting remarks such as when he calls Hojo a second rate scientist or telling one of the executives to stop their obnoxious laughter. His sense of humor is sarcastic and dry, manifesting in offhand remarks and a smirk- "A good son would have known.".

It's after Meteorfall and the downfall of the Shinra Company when Rufus starts to change his outlook on the world. When he used the escape chute from the president's office that his father had installed for 'L' (for Loser) at five-year-old Rufus's suggestion, he realized that he was just a son who wanted to live up to his father's expectations and that had led him to his current situation. He has to re-evaluate the value of human lives and the future of the planet. He knows Shinra is to blame for the damage that has been done through the creation of Sephiroth and manipulating the Lifestream.

Rufus showed no regret about plotting his father's death- the only ones he's showed any kind of loyalty or trust towards are the Turks. He saved them from being disbanded and then spent years under house arrest at Turk HQ. During Meteorfall, Rufus gives them a chance to stay with him or not before giving orders. While he is sometimes willing to defer to their input, Rufus still has the final say. The Turks have their specialties, and Rufus has faith in their capabilities. Rufus doesn't consider them mere subordinates- Kadaj is able to get him to get to him and cause Rufus to react openly when he throws Tseng's and Elena's bloody id cards down.

It seems Rufus has changed after Meteorfall especially when he's dying of Geostigma- he shows concern for those who have been infected. He goes so far as having a former Shinra scientist shot after the scientist, instead of working on a cure as promised, instead tries to get Rufus to back another Sephiroth project. He mentions wanting to atone for his crimes and it's heavily implied he's the donor funding World Regenesis Organization which works rebuilding Midgar and healing the damage done by Shinra. Healing the planet from the damage Shinra has done is a priority for him.

However, his personality essentially the same in many ways. He attempts to manipulate Cloud into helping him by mentioning the two children Cloud and Tifa care for. He outright lies to Kadaj about having Jenova's head while having it on his lap hidden under the blanket that covers him. He tosses the head over a building ledge when it suits his purpose- he waits for the perfect time to distract Kadaj and give Cloud and his friends the chance to defeat Bahamut SIN.

He still wants Shinra to rise above the ashes and shape the world. The city of Edge is entirely his idea and he paid for a monument in tribute to Meteorfall right in the middle of the city to stake a claim there.

⬢ Powers: Rufus has no powers other than fabulous hair and the uncanny ability to survive leaping off of buildings.

    Character Info
    ⬢ Name: Gwendolyn
    ⬢ Canon: Odin Sphere
    ⬢ Canon Point: Enchanted Sleep

    ⬢ History: Right here!

    ⬢ Personality:
When you first meet Gwendolyn, she gives off the impression of a trained soldier. On the battlefield, she moves decisively and cuts down anyone standing in her way, whether or not they're soldiers or beasts. Off of the battlefield, she tends to be all business with the people she meets, acting courteous yet distant. She'll show the proper respect towards royalty, often addressing them by their full title and speaking carefully as not to offend their egos. If dealing with others she regards as an enemy, she's not above threatening them to get what she wants - although it's important to note that she isn't the type to simply jump into a fight. She's more than agreeable towards diplomatic routes to settle disputes, but Gwendolyn's had more than enough experience dealing with people like this to know when opposing parties won't listen. Both inferno king onyx and the queen of the fae, powerful figures in their own right and rulers of whole nations, were not beyond being put to her spear when they tested her patience.

As expected of a hardened warrior like Gwendolyn, she possesses a great deal of courage and drive. Gwendolyn is the type of person who, if her heart is really into a cause, ignores orders from even her own father - a man she was desperate to receive approval and praise from more than anyone else - to reach the outcome she wants by acting on her own rather than simply waiting around to do nothing. Although the witch Velvet was to be executed, Gwendolyn rescued her and killed Brigan, her nation's greatest hero, simply because Velvet's death would have caused her father great turmoil. She also ignored Oswald telling her to stay in the castle as he went off, tracking him down and even rescuing him from the infant form of the dragon levanthan. Although she seems to be naturally servile due to her status as a valkyrie to Odin, which she takes very seriously, the truth is Gwendolyn is an assertive and independent woman whose nature would have her work on her own instincts instead of simply following the orders of other people.

Because of these traits, her reputation outside of her kingdom is less than favourable, as she's derisively referred to as "Odin's witch" several times. However, Gwendolyn is an incredibly kind and compassionate person when she acts on her beliefs rather than out of her sense of duty. As she held her dying elder sister in her arms she couldn't help but shed tears, something her sister notes makes her incredibly kind - mostly because as the kingdom they belong to is rooted in war and bloodshed, dying in battle is seen as the ultimate honour and something that should not be mourned. She also saves Velvet for her father's sake despite it resulting in her banishment from the kingdom, something she was fine with despite it being the greatest shame she could have brought upon herself in her culture, to lose not only her status as a valkyrie, but to be wed to a man with the expectation she would grow old as nothing more than a devoted wife and mother. She was also bothered by Odin's lack of emotion towards her sister's death, asking why he has nothing to say - even though her father has been cold and distant all her life, she still expected some kind of reaction from him with the death of his daughter. Even after her father banished her to avoid public outrage for her killing Brigan, she returned to him to deliver the ring of titrel he'd sought for so long, all because she remained loyal to him even then. Once Gwendolyn cares for someone she becomes loyal to a fault, even if it's wrong to do so - that being the case with Odin, who is an incredibly selfish and abusive father. However, it works to her advantage in the case of Oswald, who gives Gwendolyn the love and affection she'd been missing all these years.

Speaking of her relationship with Odin however, it has greatly affected her in a very damaging way. Odin loved his mistress dearly, the late queen of the kingdom of valentine, and even acts rather affectionately - in his own way - towards Velvet, his illegitimate daughter. However, towards the daughters of his own wife, he's a mere shadow of the man who loved his illegitimate family. He doesn't seem moved at all by Griselda's death, nor does he show any love or real care towards Gwendolyn herself, with her being referred to more than once as someone who has never once known any kind of love. As a result of this, Gwendolyn has an emptiness inside of her that she longs to fill; having never known love, she struggles with feelings of self doubt and even self loathing over it. She believes that the love of her father must be earned and that, having not received it yet, she simply isn't working hard enough despite everything she sacrifices for him. She calls herself pathetic for it, what she believes to be her own failings, and mentions during the game that she would gladly die for her father if it meant he would show something, anything, towards her resembling love.

But she is reminded by the bird that follows her throughout the story, representing Gwendolyn's "true' heart, that Griselda did the same thing, yet he didn't act any differently at all. As the bird is meant to represent Gwendolyn's feelings, we're shown then and there that even she doubts her own line of thought, simply being so desperate for his approval she ignores her sense of reason to try and desperately fill the void inside of her. Furthermore, while many characters do remark on Gwendolyn's purity of heart during the game, she is still human at the end of the day. When Velvet is to be executed Gwendolyn does consider that if she died, with Griselda gone, there would be no competition for her father's love, even if she can't go through with it. Also, while she tries to remain composed around Brigan - a difficult task considering his brutish, misogynistic nature towards the valkyries - we are shown her thoughts at one point and that she does secretly dislike him due to the fact he simply ignores Odin and does what he likes most of the time. Gwendolyn is perfectly capable of harbouring a poor view of the people around her even if she doesn't mention it - she simply remains composed and doesn't speak those thoughts aloud unless pushed, as is usually the case around the more antagonistic figures of the series.

Gwendolyn is physically superhuman; given her father is a giant of a man with dragon blood coursing through his veins and the culmination of all of erion's magical knowledge at his disposal, it's likely a lot of that power passed down to her, considering she can launch full scale one woman assaults on entire kingdom's worth of soldiers by herself. Throughout her campaign she fights her way through erion defeating dragons, enormous stone golems, airships and by the end her of story slays the queen of the underworld herself, despite her insistence that the psypher spear weapon Gwendolyn wields - created by said queen - could not harm her, a testament to Gwendolyn's power and skill.

Complementing her physical prowess is the skill with which she wields her spear, Gungnir. Gwendolyn - much like all of the people of Ragnanival given its warlike society - was raised from birth to be a fighter. She wields her spear with great agility and dexterity, weaving through enemy attacks with an elegant style of fighting meant to be reminiscent of a dancer, and considering she fights her way through the entire kingdom of ragnanival to return to her father after being banished, she's likely the most skilled fighter in her entire kingdom. It's also noteworthy that given Valkyrie's possess wings that grant them flight, she's equally as capable of fighting on the ground as she is in the air. She has a fighting style that adapts to airborne combat, which mostly involves thrusts, dashes and spinning attacks.

Now, the rest of her powers rely entirely on her spear Gungnir, but I'll mention them here just in case she ever gets a hold of it again.

Gungnir is a simple iron rod about as long as Gwendolyn is tall, tipped with a radiant blue blade. The blade is in fact a phozon crystal, formed from the souls of the departed that coalesced and took on a solid, crystalline form in the underworld. The blade of the spear is supernaturally sharp, as it is capable of easily piercing a dragon's hide which is known to be impervious to all forms of damage. To summarize its abilities the best I can...

    - Every time Gwendolyn strikes a living being with the spear, a part of the opponent's life force is forcefully drawn from their body and used to heal her wounds and fatigue.
    - When a living being is killed, she can draw in the last of their life energy as it leaves their body and forcefully absorb it into the crystal atop the spear, allowing it to "grow sharper with each kill" as the game puts it.
    - Gungnir's signature ability among psypher weapons is the ability to both create and manipulate ice. The actual scope of this ability is incredibly broad; it can create all sorts of constructs from ice such as pillars, spears and walls, it can freeze surfaces upon touching them, it can create icy blasts of wind capable of freezing a person solid, create projectiles varying from small, ethereal wisps of ice with homing capabilities and much larger, diamond shaped projectiles with sharpened tips. The strongest use of this ability is creating localized blizzards; in game it's an AOE attack that continuously deals damage to all enemies in the area, freezing them solid in the process.
    - The spear can let loose a brilliant flash of light that, while it deals little damage, functions similarly to a stun grenade. It disorientates a person's sight and hearing upon use, stunning them.
    - The spear is also capable of augmenting Gwen's fighting skills by letting loose shockwaves when it's swung, which she uses during some of her attacks. While thrusting the weapon forward, it shoots them straight ahead, but while performing a spinning attack a small, localized torrent of shockwaves rotates with her and shreds the opponent to pieces. It essentially increases her range, damage and cutting capabilities. Some of the attacks that make use of these shockwaves show that they can actually pull in surrounding targets, making it harder to escape.
    - When dodging attacks, Gwendolyn is capable of leaving icy feathers in her wake. Anyone who touches these feathers will be frozen solid instantly.
    - By channeling the cold from inside of the psypher spear, Gwendolyn can shroud herself in an icy veil that gives her a huge resistance to both ice and fire damage. It also prevents her from being burned or frozen.
    - Speaking of which, the spear allows its user to traverse dangerously inhospitable environments without much trouble. Gwendolyn's attire, despite essentially being a ballet uniform with a small amount of armour, was all she wore while traveling through not only snow peaked mountaintops, but underground caves with magma flowing freely only a few feet from her as she passed through. She was able to fight to the full extent of her ability and wasn't hindered at all by the extreme temperatures surrounding her.
    - Gwendolyn is capable of splitting the psypher spear into copies of itself when it is thrown. In game this takes the form of throwing the spear skyward, after which multiple copies of the spear rain down on the opponent. It's also noteworthy that during this ability Gwendolyn shows she can call the psypher spear back to her, or reform it hand when it's been discarded, remotely.
    - The psypher spear is capable of rendering its user intangible. Although it's called "invisibility" in the game, it clearly causes attacks to pass through her when activated and enemies can still see her while it's in effect. It's a brief duration however, so it has to be timed correctly when used.
    - The spear allows Gwendolyn to create a shadowy double of herself, able to fight alongside her in battle.
    - The Gungnir's final and most powerful ability is simply called that; Gungnir. She releases the spear and as it rises above her it grows to an immense size, generating a massive explosion of energy in the process. It's the most powerful attack in her arsenal.

    ⬢ Inventory:
    - The psypher spear Gungnir (1)
    - Her Valkyrie uniform (1)
    - Her wings, attached via her uniform at the hips
    - She'll take tshirts 2+3!

⬢ History: OVERALL TIMELINECINDERED SHADOWSAZURE MOON

NOTE: As the character I'm playing is an extra character from the Cindered Shadows DLC as opposed to part of the main story, he does not have a huge role to play in the war phase beyond his supports, a paralogue battle, and being part of Dimitri's army. The majority of his time is spent running the underground town of Abyss, which will be detailed further in the personality section! Regarding in-game choices, for the purposes of this application Byleth was female, and only the Ashen Wolves (Yuri, Hapi, Balthus and Constance) from the DLC were recruited into the Blue Lions House.

    ⬢ Personality:

CW: mentions of murder, self-loathing attitudes towards sex work

"I may have the best of intentions, but I’m still a criminal. If the world I’m fighting for has guys like me in it, it’s not a better one. When can I start over with a clean slate?"

"By any means necessary" is without doubt the first phrase that springs to mind when thinking about Yuri Leclerc. He’s a man with a mercenary outlook, always calculating and planning to tip the scales in his favour however he can, and when he has the greater good in mind? Yuri considers it his duty to shelve any ideas he has about shame or pride if it means he’ll be able to help those in need. He is a flighty, mysterious individual who lures with softness and strikes with steel, but whose heart is arguably one of the biggest among the former students of Garreg Mach Academy. As we progress through the story we come to see that, for all his cavalier attitude towards his behaviour, he’s a person who is incredibly concerned with what his actions mean for his future, belying an emotional complexity that he goes to great lengths to keep hidden from his peers.

Cliché as it may seem, Yuri never intended for the life he leads now to end up the way that it has done. He was born to a poor single mother in one of the villages of Faerghus, the kind of place where people scratch a living to get by, yet was nevertheless raised to always do his best to help others wherever he can. When he was a young boy, she invited a sick old man (simply referred to as “the elder”) into their home and nursed him back to health, for which he repaid her by teaching Yuri to read and write. A short time later Yuri became incredibly sick with what would soon reveal itself to be a plague, but the old man performed some kind of ritual – one that involved Yuri swallowing a red liquid – to bring him back from death’s door and fully heal him. The elder died not long after, but both his sacrifice and his ritual would leave Yuri changed forever. Not only did it bestow upon him a deep sense of duty and compassion towards helping those in need, but he later speculates that the ritual that saved him may have been what caused him to manifest the Major Crest of Aubin.

Yuri’s determination to follow through on his personal vow to protect people is a defining feature of his personality, and is ultimately what guided him onto the path that would lead him to seeing the very best and very worst of society. As a child it was difficult to achieve much of anything without money, notoriety, or many years behind him, and so he ended up joining a street gang that gave him a thorough education in thievery. Those nobles that looked down on them lived lives of comfort and excess; why not use the art of trickery to take back some of those resources and even out the playing field? Yuri has never, ever felt particularly guilty for the circles he’s run around the people he deems to be “stuffy nobles”, and regularly demonstrates that he has little patience or sympathy for their plight. Survival was always his goal – not just his own, but that of the people he cares about the most – which is usually what ends up getting him into the worst kind of trouble.

A good early example of this is the incident that happened while he was training in the Officer’s Academy at Garreg Mach. Yuri was sent out with the knights to get rid of some bandits only to find that they were members of his former gang – the very street kids he’d sworn to protect – and made the split second decision to kill the knights and let his friends go free instead of follow through with the mission. When the Church found out what happened on his return he was very nearly executed for his crime – and had Rhea not machinated Aelfric’s interference to have Yuri removed to Abyss, would have undoubtedly been killed.

During the events of Cindered Shadows we see that Yuri’s methods have matured significantly since then, and that he’s learned to use more than violence to protecting the people he cares for. At the very end of the story we learn that Yuri has in fact been deceiving the Ashen Wolves – who he does view as true friends – so that he could double-cross Aelfric all along, but that in doing so he caught everyone up in his masterfully woven plans. This demonstrates the lengths that Yuri is willing to go to when it comes to doing the right thing. Lying to Constance, Hapi and Balthus was, in his opinion, an entirely necessary deceit; he simply had to ensure that the game was rigged in his favour at all time to ensure the outcome that he wanted.

Of course, there are plenty of methods of getting your own way besides resorting straight to violence. Coming into his late teens in the proximity of well-to-do circles opened up new opportunities for Yuri, particularly once he learned how to use his looks and charms to his benefit. He references having been fought over by nobles, paid for the pleasure of his company, and often talks about the ‘boots he had to lick’ to amass his underground fortune, which suggests non-sexual escorting at the least and sex work at the most. He is excellent at playing roles when seeking means to an end: while he isn’t exactly a chameleon, he certainly knows how to adjust his façade depending on the type of person he’s dealing with, and finds it easy to mask his disgust or disdain beneath a sparkling smile and a flutter of his lashes.

He has also come to understand that it’s knowledge above all else is the key to ensuring one’s own success. Yuri is an observant young man with a voracious appetite for learning: he enjoys games of strategy and risk, books on arithmetic and ways of analysing data, and even has a discussion with Hapi in which he explains that “not knowing things” makes him quite uncomfortable. Yuri insists on being as in control of his situations and surroundings as much as he possibly can, which manifests in his daily life within his need to understand as much as he can about the world. This extends just as far into the realm of gossip and information. One of the benefits in being a charming companion to nobles is that he’s learned how to soften them up just enough to make it easy to extract their secrets, which is an absolutely invaluable skill for someone styling himself as an underground mob boss. Knowing the extent to which he can exploit a complicated administrative system, a tenuous alliance, the natural environment around him, someone’s secret shame – all of it is necessary, in Yuri’s eyes, for the betterment of his people.

His dedication to his cause is not to say he’s without a more playful side. When he isn’t playing a part, Yuri comes across as a laid-back individual with a crass mouth who loves to tease and wind up his friends. He’s blunt, opinionated, occasionally arrogant, and enjoys nothing more than pulling reactions from other people, especially individuals (such as Constance) who give him a lot to work with. It’s for this reason that he’s become known as the “Savage Mockingbird” among other gangs; the playful attitude he brings to his friends is something he uses when he’s conducting business as well – violent or otherwise – and while this isn’t necessarily something he leans into? He’d rather be feared for his viciousness than considered an easy target for Abyss’ rivals.

As such, Yuri has an interesting “code” when it comes to his softer side, and has been known to go to lengths to disguise it from prying eyes. It takes him an incredibly long time to trust, but once it’s been earned it’s clear that he is a generous, attentive, and loving companion. He says himself that he enjoys nothing more than spending an evening with good friends and good food, and is clearly a social animal who likes kicking back and having a good time. He also takes great pleasure in providing others with things they love: take Ingrid, for example, who he discovered tucking into some meat at an off-the-grid tavern. After a little observation and easy questioning Yuri went on to surprise her with a home-cooked meal back at Garreg Mach, simply because he enjoys being able to be a source of pleasure for his friends.

On the other hand, it also seems as though Yuri is uncomfortable with his kindness being observed by others when he didn’t plan on having an audience. When Dorothea confronts him after discovering him singing lullabies to sick children, for example, Yuri immediately tries to divert the conversation back to her, even throwing in a little flirtatious charm in the hopes of shutting down any further comment. This suggests that he does have a little shyness in him, for all his behaviour would suggest otherwise, and that he doesn’t much like it when others discover things about him that he isn’t yet ready to share.

This is likely the reason that, for the most part, when discussing his future he only really speaks anonymously (i.e. a note in the counsellor’s box) or to his most trusted friends. For all Yuri is fully committed to his cause, and believes there to be no other way to achieve his goal of helping as many people as he can, it’s evident that he harbours doubts as to what it means for him personally to live the life that he does. His greatest shame in life is the fact that he killed innocent knights of the Church on that fateful mission during his Academy days, and he is still seeking the Goddess' forgiveness for their murder. He also considers himself to be “filthy” and unlovable because of his lifestyle – the stealing, killing, selling himself to nobles, letting them use him for their dirtiest work – and seems to long for a day when his work will be done and he’ll be able to start over with a clean slate.

In sum, Yuri is a complicated young man who harbours deep regrets for which he one day hopes to atone. Until then, however, he is committed to keeping his friends and family safe no matter what the cost may be to himself, and he’ll do it all with a cheeky wink, a playful smile, and a wicked flash of his blade.

    ⬢ Powers:

Major Crest of Aubin • Yuri possesses the Major Crest of Aubin, which is one of the crests of the Four Apostles. This gives him the ability to occasionally prevent attacks when using a weapon, although it should be noted that this it isn't a power that he can actually choose to use — rather, it triggers every now and then when he finds himself in battle.

Swordsmanship • Yuri is a highly skilled swordsman who learned the art of the blade on the mean streets of Fódlan. He's a dirty fighter who likes to stack the odds in his favour — poisoning an enemy before a fight? Absolutely! — and relies on speed, trickery, and high crit rates to get the job done before he can take too much damage. He's fast and deadly, to be sure, but he isn't particularly sturdy, which makes him more of an "in and out" fighter as opposed to a frontline tank.

Faith Magic • As someone who spends a lot of time flitting around the battlefield trying to dodge attacks, Yuri is particularly useful as a side-healer and has access to a number of different faith magic spells. This is essentially Fire Emblem's version of healing / white magic, and can be used to support friends as well as get a little self-healing in when used on the offensive.

Reason Magic • While he also has access to reason magic, Fire Emblem's version of offensive / black magic, his spell list is marginally shorter than that of his faith magic. He can learn four wind magic spells (also listed in the above link) which fits his flighty fighting style, and is especially effective against flying enemies.

Primary outfit (the post-timeskip version, with gloves)
★ Yuri's bonus outfit will consist of: a pair of ash-grey knee-high boots (heeled); a pair of high-waisted, charcoal trousers; a tailored white shirt; and a pair of burgundy half-palm gloves.

    ★ Weaponry

Venin Edge+ • A sword that can poison enemies
Wo Dao+ • A sword with very high crit rate
Fetters of Dromi • A lost relic that grants the wearer the option of using leftover movement after their turn, and has the chance of halving damage when worn by a person bearing the Crest of Aubin

⬢ Canon Point: Right after getting summoned back into Shen Qingqiu's body in the Holy Mausoleum

    ⬢ History: https://scumvillain.fandom.com/wiki/Shen_Qingqiu/
There's a summary of the novel's events on this page under the 'synopsis' section, but it's incomplete & what's there is kind of unnecessarily detailed, so here's a summary, I tried to make it as concise as possible!

⬢ Personality: As you might expect from someone who dedicated a lot of his time in his first life to reading and discussing a novel he professed to loathe, Shen Qingqiu is uhh not super in touch with his own feelings. It's not that he wasn't genuinely frustrated with Proud Immortal Demon Way most of the time, but you know how it goes – you get seriously emotionally invested in a piece of media that keeps letting you down, and you can either be normal about it, or you can spend years making a big, public deal out of how much you hate it while paying for every single extra the author publishes, having involved opinions about every single aspect of it, and yelling on the forums for characters you don't like to get castrated. Shen Qingqiu really thinks he has himself figured out, and he really, really does not. After he transmigrates, he thinks of himself as acting purely out of selfish practicality, but he's way more sentimental about the people around him than he generally acknowledges in his narration, and finds it very hard to be deliberately cruel to people even when he's still mostly thinking of them as fictional characters. In the aftermath of pushing Luo Binghe into the Endless Abyss, he insists in his narration that yeah it makes sense that people would assume he's sad because they think his favourite disciple is dead but he's actually obviously fine – what everyone is actually worried about is the fact that he's stopped eating, generally seems super depressed, and spends all his time moping around the sword mound he made for Luo Binghe. Shen Qingqiu is a very unreliable narrator about a lot of things (see also other people's motivations, feelings, sexual orientations, etc.), but especially about himself.

Although he has a lively, judgemental inner monologue, he usually seems pretty calm on the surface; this is partially because he's spent the last six years having to pretend that his familiarity with his surroundings doesn't primarily come from a webnovel, and partially because the body he transmigrated into has a really good poker face. He's long stopped trying to play out the character of Shen Qingqiu in a way that's accurate to the novel – he didn't want to die, after all! – but he is invested in seeming like someone who could be a lofty, refined immortal, which is at odds with a lot of his natural tendencies. In his heart Shen Qingqiu is lazy, fussy, spoiled and pretentious, and while it totally fits his image for him to act haughty and pedantic, if he was really left to his own devices he would be happy to just lie around all day reading trash fiction and Monster Hunter lore and eating pringles. Instead he has to be a respected scholarly magic sword guy who's admired by his disciples and colleagues... Life is so hard :/ Like, not that he doesn't get a kick out of doing magic and feeling cool, but god, at what cost,

(I'm interested in seeing to what extent he'll end up keeping the mask on, as it were, in a jamjar! The answer is probably 'at least a little', because no matter what he's still in Shen Qingqiu's body with Shen Qingqiu's face and he's just used to using it in certain ways, but how much beyond that will probably depend on what kind of people he interacts with most. Gotta say though being given tshirts and jeans is going to make 'pretending to be a guy who doesn't wear jeans' a really daunting prospect)

⬢ Powers: Shen Qingqiu inherited the cultivation of his body’s original owner; he is able to manipulate his spiritual energy to achieve superhuman and supernatural feats. Neither Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky nor SVSSS's author are very interested in getting extremely specific about the practice of cultivation or the precise array of abilities that are at the characters' disposal, but I will, try,
    - Cultivation gives him, broadly speaking, superhuman physical capabilities, e.g. strength, healing, resilience, improbable leaping, etc. (He also doesn't physically age, but that's probably not relevant here!) Shen Qingqiu is, like, a more accomplished than average cultivator, but not a legendary talent like some of his peers.
    - As a sword cultivator, Shen Qingqiu's spiritual sword Xiu Ya is linked to him, and he is able to make it fly around and do his bidding as well as being skilled at the regular kind of swordplay. He can also use it for transport by standing on it while he's controlling its movement. Or he would if it wasn't in library sword jail.
    - One of Shen Qingqiu's signature moves is, we are told, imbuing a bunch of leaves with spiritual energy in order to use them as a flurry of blades, but he never does any other kind of plant themed stuff on screen
    - He is shown sometimes using his fan as a spiritual tool for combat purposes. Not sure if that means the fans are in jail too but if they are that's pretty funny and he's going to be bummed out about it
    - He can use talismans and hand seals for various kinds of spells, but you don't see a ton of this kind of thing in the book so I probably won't lean into it very much
    - Theoretically he is capable of going without sleep or food, although he isn't in the habit of doing this except when he's depressed.

Not a power, but a supernatural quirk worth noting: Shen Qingqiu is afflicted with the inventively named demonic poison 'Without A Cure', which is supposed to kill you horribly but whose worst effects are staved off by regularly having his meridians cleansed by other members of Cang Qiong Mountain Sect. Even with this treatment, it causes his spiritual energy to just get cut off sometimes. Not sure if this should be considered an "injury" as discussed in the FAQ and if it'd be simplest for this to just be eliminated on entry? On the one hand having his powers disrupted at unpredictable intervals is fun, and needing help with cleansing it is a good potential CR vector with other characters with vaguely compatible abilities; on the other hand, in the event there are no characters whose players are up for that, he would presumably die... Lmao. I'm good with whatever the mods decide on this one!

    ⬢ Inventory:
    - What he's currently wearing: like five layers of ridiculous xianxia robes in shades of green and white (regrettably the sleeves are bags of holding), extravagant hair crown, waist ornament, etc
    - At least a couple of folding paper fans
    - The Xiu Ya sword
    - Knockoff jade Guanyin pendant

    Character Info
    ⬢ Name: Shen Jiu
    ⬢ Canon: Scum Villain's Self-Saving System
⬢ Canon Point: Before getting sold to the Qius

⬢ History: Once upon a time, there was a pair of young orphans named Shen Jiu and Yue Qi. The two belonged to slave traders along with a bunch of other orphans, and were made to beg for money in the streets until they managed to be sold. Their main ploy was to sit by the side of the road, Shen Jiu bawling his eyes out, with a sign saying their parents had died, they'd run out of money on the way to meet distant relatives, etc etc please donate. This life went on until Yue Qi reached an age where he was no longer willing to beg, at which point he was moved to lookout duty and Shen Jiu kept up the begging on his own.

At some point during their years together, the two children discovered a talent for cultivation (the fantasy Chinese equivalent of magic), though sadly their world is not one that includes magical child detectors or messenger owls, and for the sake of survival they chose to hide their abilities instead.

When Shen Jiu is twelve years old, one of the other orphans makes the mistake of challenging a particularly vicious local rich boy named Qiu Jianluo. Yue Qi, ever the responsible one, rushes there in an attempt to save their wayward younger "sibling" and is nearly trampled under young master Qiu's horse; in that moment, Shen Jiu forgets everything about hiding his powers, and proceeds to stab the horse with a magically-sharpened scrap of gold (likely fallen from one of the horse's accessories). This disruption to master Qiu's day leads him to buy the offending child—and thus Shen Jiu gets to have a taste of hell.

⬢ Personality: With his background, it's probably to be expected that Shen Jiu is a tough and ruthless child, threatening murder when kids try to steal his chosen begging corner, and laughing at the news that fellow orphan Shiwu is getting literally whipped by an irritated noble. He has no qualms with swindling strangers out of food or money, his interests focused more on survival than anything else. This isn't to say that he has no bottom line, or lacks any shame—he is shown stubbornly defending his space, people, and property, and it takes years of consistent abuse before he snaps and kills his abuser. His unfortunate upbringing has also led him to become easily jealous of anyone he perceives to have something he himself may never be able to obtain, particularly those with loving families. Having been constantly beaten down and bullied as a child, he follows the belief that it's a dog-eat-dog world out there, and the less you care for others, the less you'll be hurt or weighed down.

That being said, his cruelty isn't the only existing aspect of his personality—it's just the aspect which gets the most publicity. Shen Jiu's ability to love is, in fact, as intense as his hate; he trusts implicitly in Yue Qi, accepts him for all his perceived faults, and - after getting bought by the Qiu family - waits loyally for his Qi-ge to rescue him. When the rescue fails to happen, rather than blaming his brother, he starts making up excuses, eventually convincing himself that he will one day escape to find Qi-ge's remains and give him a proper burial (because surely the only thing that would keep him from returning would be death). Even after the destruction of their relationship years later, and treating Yue Qi with cold detachment for the rest of their years together, he sacrifices what little remains of their bond in an attempt to save the man's life, and subsequently breaks down for the first time in his life when it turns out his attempt had failed. (This is in fact the only instance of love or trust he ever shows throughout the series, though an older girl slave who'd cared for a young Jiu before getting sold leads to him being soft on women in general.)

Shen Jiu is also a very intelligent kid, the kind who'd end up in a gifted class if he was ever allowed to go to school. He's illiterate when the Qius buy him at age 12, but even then he can perfectly copy out characters he'd memorized by sight, despite not knowing what they said. By age 15 he's well-versed in reading, writing, etiquette, etc., and when he finally becomes a cultivator at the late age of 16 (imagine starting middle school at that age) he shoots up through the ranks to Head Disciple at a surprisingly fast speed, mastering all the required skills of martial arts, music, and all the rest - though he never manages to keep up with the others in terms of magical strength.

Speaking of magical strength, Shen Jiu suffers from a severe inferiority complex! As a homeless orphan slave he grows up recognizing his position as being as low as low can be on the societal ladder, and with all the things that happen to him over the years, that complex only manages to worsen. He feared Qiu Jianluo, ultimately killing him in a moment of panicked terror; he feared the rogue cultivator who "apprenticed" him after the incident, killing and robbing innocents under his orders because the idea of successfully escaping was unthinkable; part of the reason he breaks off relations with Yue Qi is because his big brother has become this powerful, well-known cultivator with a bright future ahead of him, and Shen Jiu is the scum of the earth. A line from the Jiu-focused bonus chapter exemplifies this: "In the beginning he’d always suffered in silence, a rat who could do nothing but cover his head and take whatever beatings came his way; later he was a rat who ran wildly through dark ravines, as everyone around called out their desire to beat him. No matter how he changed, he was always a rat. Cowering with tail tucked between his legs, unable to see the light of day. Squandering away the years, wasting what time he had. Meanwhile, Yue Qingyuan was the epitome of a swallow transformed into a phoenix, or a carp who’d successfully leapt through the Dragon gate."

To sum it up, Shen Jiu is a kid who bullies the weak, fears the strong, secretly has an incredibly low opinion of himself, and is subsequently willing to give up his life for the incredibly few people who manage to find a place in his fragile grinch-sized heart.

    ⬢ Powers:
    - Can cry on command
    - Great at acting cute and/or pitiful
    - Can pick the best street corners to beg on
    - Capable of cultivation (at present he can make objects sharp if he concentrates, but with training this can also involve creating magic talismans, conjuring fire, enchanting things, it's basically Harry Potter)

    Character Info
    ⬢ Name: Aerith Gainsborough
    ⬢ Canon: Final Fantasy VII
    ⬢ Canon Point: post-Remake ending

⬢ History: link! Events listed here are relevant prior to the beginning of game up until the end of Remake.

⬢ Personality: On the surface, three words could be used to describe Aerith: joyful, upbeat, and free-spirited. With a naturally sunny disposition, Aerith is outgoing and cheerful, the type who will make an effort to be friendly to anyone she meets. There is no such thing as stranger danger with this one! Plus, if she finds someone attractive, she has a natural tendency to flirt. She has a quick and often mischievous sense of humor, a clever wit, and a playful approach to conversation. While she may be playful, however, she is also quite frank in how she expresses her feelings; she will both say and do exactly as she wishes, not allowing herself to be restrained by what society says is proper. If there's something she wants, she'll go for it, and the only thing that can stop her, generally, is if she knows that someone she cares about will be hurt by the very thing she's chasing. Not even the least bit shy, she's not backward in coming forward, approaching situations from a place of frank honesty, and not worrying what others might think of her for doing so. Overall, in this regard, she is very much the type to live in the moment, enjoying everything that life has to offer.

Having grown up in the Midgar Slums, Aerith outgoing and adventurous, a firm believer that she can handle things by herself. And try she will to do exactly that. Perhaps as a direct result of this, she's very determined; when she sets her mind on a particular path, that's the end of anyone's chance to convince her to try something different. This causes her to be somewhat secretive about her plans, often only revealing what she intends to do once it's too late for anyone to try and sway her course. This can cause problems for herself and others around her, as while she believes in her own self-sufficiency, she's also not a trained strategist!

As the last of the Cetra, Aerith has an intuition beyond that of the average human; she communicates with the wind and flowers, and sometimes knows when souls pass into the Lifestream. While this may give others the impression that she's something of a space cadet, the truth is that she's always listening and paying attention. She just doesn't always show it on account of her attention being pulled in so many different directions. The way she handles this knowledge, however, shows her deep care and compassion for others; she is able to communicate her trustworthiness easily to both Marlene and Red XIII, despite neither having met her before. And in Midgar, she senses that something isn't quite right with Cloud, a guy that for all intents and purposes, she's only just met. Where others might focus on the negative traits of others, she tends to see the good in everyone. She tries to show kindness even to people whose ideologies are vastly different from her own, and displays forgiveness even to those who might not necessarily deserve it. In Remake, she even informs Cloud, when Rude has come specifically to collect her on behalf of Shinra, that he's not a bad person. Some would probably say that such actions show naivety, but Aerith would rather trust someone who turns out to be untrustworthy, than not trust someone who needed her trust.

The major downside to being the only living descendant of the Cetra though is that Aerith feels quite lonely. Not only is there no one else like her, but her differences from others also led to her being isolated from other children as she grew up. It might be for this reason that she displays strong maternal instincts, caring greatly for the children of the Slums, or really just anyone who seems to be in need. However, even as an adult, she's still marked as different, whether by the people around her, or the Shinra company and its constantly watching eyes. Even now, there's a part of her that wishes she could just be normal; while she doesn't really admit this to others, it's visible in her interactions with them, such as in how she chose not to tell Cloud or any of the others about her true lineage.

⬢ Powers: Aerith is the last of the Cetra, a race of people able to both communicate with the planet Gaia and guide its spiritual energy. As she states herself during the original game's timeline: "The Cetra were born from the Planet, speak with the Planet, and unlock the Planet." Her power means that she knows things she shouldn't, such as when a soul passes into the Lifestream; it is also implied quite strongly in the Remake timeline that she has some knowledge of things that happened in the original timeline. Due to these powers being reliant on being on her own planet, Aerith will not have access to them here, although she will be informed by anything she already knows from before her arrival.

Aerith is a capable fighter in battle, wielding a collapsible stave from which she can shoot magic projectiles; if she absolutely needs to, she can just hit an opposing fighter with it. She possesses some minor magical abilities of her own, able to cast a supporting shield over her friends, summon an aetherial familiar, and call down a healing wind in times of desperation, but her more powerful magical abilities come from the use of Materia, orbs formed of crystallized mako energy from her own planet.

    HEALING MATERIA—
Allows Aerith to use healing spells.
❀ Cure: Restores a minor amount of HP.
❀ Cura: Restores a medium amount of HP.
❀ Regen: Restores 10% maximum HP and applies the Regen buff, which restores HP by 1% every 2s for 180s.
❀ Curaga: Restores a major amount of HP.

    MAGNIFY MATERIA—
Allows Aerith to expand the range of spell with the linked materia at the cost of its effectiveness. As this is linked to her Healing materia, she is able to cast AoE heals at a 25% reduction of HP healed.

    FIRE MATERIA—
Allows Aerith to use fire magic.
❀ Fire: Deals a minor amount of fire-elemental damage.
❀ Fira: Deals a medium amount of fire-elemental damage.
❀ Firaga: Deals a major amount of fire-elemental damage.

    REVIVAL MATERIA—
Allows Aerith to use revival spells.
❀ Raise: Revives a target at partial HP.
❀ Arise: Revives a target at full HP.

    MAGIC UP MATERIA—
Increases Aerith's magic attack power by 25%.

She also has a strong affinity for flowers and living things, although it remains to be seen if this is due to her connection to Gaia, or a talent she has herself.
