⬢ Name:
⬢ Canon: If your canon has multiple names (ex.: MDZS/The Untamed), please take a moment to check and see if your canon is on the taken list already, and use the name there.
⬢ Canon Point:

⬢ History: We would prefer this to come in the form of a link or a series of links, but will accept written histories if there is nothing available.

For series with multiple routes and/or choices that can be made that effect the outcome of the game, please outline what choices were made as well.

⬢ Personality: Describe your character as best as you can. If we feel there is anything pivotal to the character that was left out, we will ask for revisions, so please try and be as thorough as possible. Be sure that the personality described is adequately reflected in your samples!

⬢ Powers: Because there is no power nerfing in the library itself by default, please list all canon powers, and outline what forms those powers take/what they can do. Feel free to link to a wiki section here as well, if that would be easier. Please note that any powers not on the application will not be accessible without a canon update, so we have something to refer to.

We do reserve the right to limit game-breaking powers, but will also work with you to give your character a reduced form of these powers, should they come up, so they won't be lost entirely.

⬢ Inventory: Please outline everything that was on your character's person at the moment they were pulled into the game. This includes weapons, armor, and anything in their pockets and/or any bags they might have been carrying. Please also describe (or link an image of) their second outfit from home, and choose two of the following three library shirts that they will find in their complimentary duffel. [1 2 3]

⬢ Sample 1: [Link] - An AC-length or longer non-network thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year.
⬢ Sample 2: [Link] - An AC-length or longer thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year. The second sample may be a network-style thread.

To apply for your character, copy the text below and paste it into a comment, filling out all necessary information. Do not link your application. You may link your application from here or from an entry on your journal on the taken list.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Vidar (Gaelio Bauduin)
⬢ Canon: Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans
⬢ Canon Point: S2E17

⬢ History: LINK covers his time from Gaelio Bauduin (P.D. 323) to Vidar (P.D. 325 onwards).

⬢ Personality: Official records say that following the death of Specialist Major Gaelio Bauduin during an intense battle in the outskirts of Edmonton against Tekkadan forces and allies, his body was retrieved by Gjallarhorn forces, cremated, and buried in the Seven Stars cemetery. The noble Kimaris Trooper, his Gundam, was reportedly returned to the Bauduin vault after that.

Official records also lie, because Gaelio Bauduin is very much alive. For the next two years following his death and betrayal, Gaelio throws away his name and familial connections, with the whole world believing him to be dead anyway, and takes on the name of his overhauled mobile suit, Gundam Vidar. This is when things get complicated.

Two things define Vidar’s will to live, or lack of it, depending on who's asking:

RULE OF LAW. Vidar believes in upholding order and stability -- on his own terms. In contrast to his more easy-going personality as Gaelio Bauduin, who can laugh at instances of corruption even as he loathes it, Vidar allies himself with the most powerful display of order in the show, which is with Gjallarhorn, and specifically the Arianrhod fleet, an elite moon-based unit tasked with intercepting any threats to the Earth, led by Rustal Elion. He’s not looking for a revolution, he’s looking for disruptions to the status quo and helping to eliminate them. In this canon, that’d be Tekkadan working under Mcgillis Fareed. Prioritizing his duties to Gjallarhorn allows him to use his role as a form of atonement for not being able to prevent the deaths of his friends and the descent of Mcgillis Fareed into madness. As Vidar, he takes his role seriously in mentoring fellow pilots and advising his superiors and colleagues about risks and threats to operations, removing his ego from the scenario by not taking credit for his sound advice; but also hiding his identity so that he can ascertain Mcgillis' primary reasons for betraying him, which leads us to his quest for --

VENGEANCE. Two years of getting used to his new pseudonym and taking on the name of his highly improved Gundam, while working for the Arianrhod fleet, all culminate in his experience to stop one man: Mcgillis Fareed. Vidar regards Mcgillis with such bitterness. He looked up to him in his childhood and had always sought the attention and company of Mcgillis throughout their lives. Their respective families even have a close relationship. But Gaelio ended up as a pawn to Mcgillis’ plans, along with Ein, his subordinate, and Carta, a beloved friend who was also in love with Mcgillis. His purpose and motivation in the latter half of the show is tied with his need to understand why Mcgillis had gone to such lengths for his objectives, and possibly dying in the process, because Gaelio himself doesn't believe he has any other future beyond defeating Mcgillis in the kind of strength he believes in.

Gaelio Bauduin, as a friend, is loyal to Mcgillis Fareed. Vidar is also loyal, in his way, in that he dedicates his entire life just so that he can make Mcgillis regret having ever betrayed his loyalty to begin with, when it was already freely given before he was killed. That single-minded affection for such a man he looked up to turns into a bitter obsession, to the point that Gaelio can no longer conceive of a future beyond dying with Mcgillis, as he believes it is too late to save him from his addiction to power.

MCGILLIS FAREED. His emotions regarding Mcgillis Fareed are complicated. A lot of the negative emotions in his life are more readily expressed usually in the presence of Mcgillis. But despite his rage and anger, what Vidar wants is to understand him and his objectives. If need be, he is ready to forgive him. Should his objectives prove to be dangerous to the peace and order of Gjallarhorn, however, Vidar is more than ready to fight him and reclaim his name. He has a certain fierce affection for Mcgillis that he can’t quite let go of, despite easily letting go of his own identity to claim another for the sake of revenge. Haunted by the deaths of Ein and Carta, Vidar never hesitates to remind Mcgillis of the price of his goals, whether he wants to listen or not. In truth, what Vidar wants is the rather childish hope that Mcgillis could acknowledge him as a friend and equal; failing that, he will stop him and die in the process with him.

In general, Vidar’s personality is a reactionary method of dealing with the failure that he was as Gaelio Bauduin, Specialist Major, tormented leader, and friend. In contrast to who he was as Gaelio, Vidar is quiet and reclusive. He intimidates people with his mask, which often serves as a physical guard towards his emotions and thoughts. He utilizes his silence effectively in conversations. He prefers to be in the background, even going as far as wearing a generic Gjallarhorn uniform. And while Vidar can be genial, he prefers honesty and straightforwardness as opposed to schemes and manoeuvres. He values his allies, and respects his superior. He can extend that same respect in the battlefield to his enemies.

Vidar is serious about his work and even more serious about his need to get stronger: He commits to the Alaya-Vijnana surgery and upgrades his Gundam Vidar to a behemoth that can fight the main protagonist’s Gundam at full power, likely because Mcgillis mentioned that the protagonist was the better pilot. All of this happened despite the fact that Gaelio would have been horrified and would never have consented to the surgery, or using his subordinate as part of the OS for his Gundam frame in the beginning. As Vidar, he now views all of these things as necessary tools in order to be able to maintain his strength and power — above the allies that Mcgillis chose for himself, and to exceed the strength of his that killed him in Edmonton. The pride that Gaelio has as a Bauduin is, as Vidar, transferred in his newfound belief in relying in raw power to make Mcgillis Fareed heel and to subjugate Tekkadan as they disrupt the rule of law. For Vidar, who is normally mild-mannered in his interactions, this manifests in a ferocious display in the battlefield. What he lacks for technical skill he makes up in sheer strength and experience: when words fail, Vidar is never afraid to make a point using his fists, or his Gundam. Whatever it takes.

⬢ Powers: Vidar is a regular human, other than the modification he's had for his Gundam, which is specific to the mobile suit anyway. He’s proficient with handguns, has military training, and he can drive a car.

⬢ Inventory: GJALLARHORN UNIFORM AND MASK, handgun, library shirts 1 and 2. A second outfit for him can just be a turtleneck (black) and trousers (black) with polished shoes (also black).
