⬢ Canon: If your canon has multiple names (ex.: MDZS/The Untamed), please take a moment to check and see if your canon is on the taken list already, and use the name there.
⬢ Canon Point:

⬢ History: We would prefer this to come in the form of a link or a series of links, but will accept written histories if there is nothing available.

For series with multiple routes and/or choices that can be made that effect the outcome of the game, please outline what choices were made as well.

⬢ Personality: Describe your character as best as you can. If we feel there is anything pivotal to the character that was left out, we will ask for revisions, so please try and be as thorough as possible. Be sure that the personality described is adequately reflected in your samples!

⬢ Powers: Because there is no power nerfing in the library itself by default, please list all canon powers, and outline what forms those powers take/what they can do. Feel free to link to a wiki section here as well, if that would be easier. Please note that any powers not on the application will not be accessible without a canon update, so we have something to refer to.

We do reserve the right to limit game-breaking powers, but will also work with you to give your character a reduced form of these powers, should they come up, so they won't be lost entirely.

⬢ Inventory: Please outline everything that was on your character's person at the moment they were pulled into the game. This includes weapons, armor, and anything in their pockets and/or any bags they might have been carrying. Please also describe (or link an image of) their second outfit from home, and choose two of the following three library shirts that they will find in their complimentary duffel. [1 2 3]

⬢ Sample 1: [Link] - An AC-length or longer non-network thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year.
⬢ Sample 2: [Link] - An AC-length or longer thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year. The second sample may be a network-style thread.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Claude von Riegan
⬢ Canon: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
⬢ Canon Point: After Chapter 12: To War (Verdant Wind), before the time skip.*
*Note that I'm rolling with Cindered Shadows DLC completed, Ashen Wolves recruited, no other students recruited, and female Byleth.

⬢ History: Here. Note that Claude's route is "Verdant Wind" but at his current canon point, most of those events haven't occurred yet.

⬢ Personality:
→ Friendly, compassionate, accepting
One thing that is obvious about Claude is that he's a friendly person. He's quick to smile and strike up a friendship with anyone he meets. It doesn't matter who they are, where they're from, or what their social class is. This sometimes irritates the people around him because as the future Duke Riegan, there are people who think he acts too casually and doesn't take his rank seriously. There's this idea that he should be careful with who he interacts with and how he acts around them and while he actually takes his duties seriously, this is just one of those areas where he ignores tradition and expectation and acts as he wants. If given the chance, he gets along with others well.

Getting to know him more, he reveals that his reasons for treating people kindly stems from a troubled past that he keeps close to his chest. He's beenconsidered an outsider ever since he was a child. He was bullied and rejected. Instead of becoming a bitter person, he took those experiences and opted to treat people the way he wished he'd been— with compassion, fairness, and acceptance. He remarks that the Golden Deer is a mismatched house. It has commoners and nobles, slackers and scholars, and he embraces all of their quirks. This is further supported when he approaches Byleth for counseling. Despite being a leader and one who seems to get along with the main characters in his House, he's actually the subject of a lot of rumors and gossip. He says, "I often overhear people commenting about how strange I am. I don't really get it. Shouldn't it be expected that everyone has their own unique perspective on life?"

Most significantly, his experiences and ideals shape his dreams for the future. Claude dreams of a world where people are free from status and Crests and judged by their own merit. In his ideal world, it doesn't matter where you're from or how you were born, you're free to be yourself and can feel like you belong in the world. Claude ultimately dreams of a better future for everyone. This dream is his motivation for everything and he'll stop at nothing to accomplish that goal. It's a large dream that he knows he can't accomplish alone so he starts with himself first; by leading by example treating people the way he wants people to be treated in his ideal world.

→ Casual, easy-going, nonchalant
Something that adds to his friendly demeanor is how easy going and nonchalant he can act about things. He's heir to the leading house of Leicester and is someone who will be one of Fodlan's great leaders in the future. Instead of acting nobly and seriously like the other leaders, he takes on a much more laidback approach.

He's often scolded for being lazy and not taking things seriously. He adopts a very relaxed approach to the noble traditions expected of him like worshipping the goddess and coming up with plans for his house. His priorities always seem a little off compared to most— when others are planning for battle, he's thinking about what to eat. While others treat Byleth seriously as their professor, Claude nicknames them "Teach" and immediately acts friendly. He's also someone that acknowledges that there's a lot of mystery and some conspiracy around him and he understands why people would be concerned but he brushes it all off, telling people not to worry much to their annoyance. People often tell him he doesn't act very noble and he considers it a compliment.

→ Reliable, determined, thoughtful
That said, despite his friendly and laidback demeanor, Claude actually takes his duties as house leader and future heir very seriously. Once you get to know him, he starts to open up and reveals that he has a dream that he's striving for. He enrolled in school to become stronger and achieve his dream. He admits to coming to school to meet people who can help him achieve his dream and he sees potential in the people that he meets.

Throughout the game, other characters remark that even if he acts lazy and they don't know what to think about him all of the time, they feel like they can rely on him. His other classmates describe him as, "He acts carefree, but secretly, he's so serious!" and "He rarely takes things seriously, but somehow… I just know we can rely on him." They also acknowledge that even if he's lazy, he's a person with many talents, something that is supported by the fact that Claude is one of the characters with the most skill proficiencies in the game.

Tying back into his compassionate nature, whenever he sets out on a mission, he tries to think about others. He looks out for the wellbeing of those under his command and beyond that, he considers the innocent civilians and reluctant enemies they might fight. He dislikes fighting and he can be counted on to avoid it as much as possible. While he prefers peace, he isn't against violence and he's willing to fight and do whatever is necessary to protect those who rely on him. This makes him an excellent and dependable leader for his allies but for his rivals (and enemies) he's a fearsome opponent that shouldn't be underestimated.

→ Curious, intelligent, scheming, diplomatic
Claude really isn't much of a fighter! He's a natural archer so he prefers to avoid fighting up close and pick people off from a distance. Statistically, he's got the archer stats to go with it and while he's speedy and skilled, he has no business being on the frontline and really shouldn't be taking any hits. He hints at this a few times in-game when he asks other characters to go easy on him in matches and generally leans into the idea of him being weak and a coward.

His greatest asset, however, is his intelligence. He's incredibly knowledgable about the history, politics, and economics of Fodlan to the point that other characters are regularly surprised by how much he knows. He knows enough that he's able to realize that things aren't quite what they seem at Garreg Mach and within Fodlan and begins to look for censored material to uncover "the truth." This leads to him stumbling into a conspiracy that goes back centuries and involves the entire continent. While he has his own dream and motivations, he begins to look at the bigger picture around him and his route is really focused on learning the truth about the world.

During the academic year, he's temporarily pulled out of school to fill in for his sick grandfather back home. Even if he isn't Duke yet, he's asked to help moderate the roundtable conference. When he comes back, he remarks that it wasn't his first time taking part in a meeting and he implies that it all went well enough, even if it was exhausting. The roundtable doesn't get along with each other and to lead them, he has to mediate between the other houses in his nation to keep the peace. It's worth noting that in a couple of years after he becomes Duke Riegan, he's able to balance out the roundtable and keep the alliance both together and neutral during the war which speaks for his skills as a diplomat.

He's a known schemer. Everyone calls him a schemer and he owns it. At first, his schemes are played off as silly things— he uses dirty tricks like poison! He'll poke fun at his opponents to get a rise out of them! But it's all revealed that he's actually thinking seriously when he engages in shenanigans like this. In all seriousness, he'd rather poison his enemy to cut down their numbers before a battle has even begun. He'll dig up secrets on his enemies to rile them up and distract them in a fight. Is it noble? No. Does he care? No. Regarded as a no good schemer at first, he's actually a shrewd tactician taking different things into account— how many people will he have to fight? How determined will his opponent be in a fight?

→ Secretive, distrustful, independent (Spoilers for Verdant Wind!)
One of the first impressions Claude gives in the game is that he's someone with a charming smile that doesn't reach his eyes. From the get-go, it's obvious that he has an air of mystery to him and he's someone with many secrets. He's incredibly aware of this too and owns up to it. He teases others for not knowing what his secrets are and outright admits that he has secrets he can't reveal for XYZ reason. He tells lies, offers different accounts of events, and just shrugs it off or flees the conversation when he's called on it.

Claude has all of the personality traits of a well-liked and popular person but the truth is, because of his secret origins and reluctance to share any information about it, he's the subject of rumors and gossip both at school and at home. Rival lords are always trying to find out more information about him and some people even hire mercenaries to try and dig into his past to discredit him. Diving into his background/past a bit here, the truth is, he really is a Riegan through his mother's side and he's a legitimate heir to the leadership. What he doesn't admit though is that his father is the King of Almyra, the traditional enemy of Fodlan. Fodlan is a closed nation that looks down on outsiders. When Claude arrived in Fodlan, he heard people referring to Almyrans as "menaces" and "beasts." Expecting rejection, he kept his heritage a secret.

Going further back, in Almyra, he was bullied for being mixed because, in Almyra, people from Fodlan were considered weak and cowardly. In his own words, he was hated just for existing, and even though he was born a prince, his life wasn't an easy one. It's left pretty vaguely and is never explained in-game but interview notes imply he might have many half-siblings and that Claude himself is an insignificant member of the royal family. He was looked down on and was in an environment where he constantly had to prove himself and his attempts were never good enough. He didn't live luxuriously and there were multiple attempts on his life. He spent much of his childhood fighting for the right to live as himself and licking his wounds. His parents encouraged him to become stronger so he could win his own battles without relying on anyone. In turn, he eventually became independent and self-reliant... something Claude isn't very proud of because he's aware that these experiences made him dishonest, distrustful, and incredibly lonely.

⬢ Powers:
Minor Crest of Riegan,
Most notably, Claude possesses a Crest. Crests grant special abilities to those who inherit them. Claude's Crest of Riegan allows him to occasionally heal himself in battle. He has no control over it and it just triggers on its own. As he has a Minor Crest so it activates less than a Major Crest. This translates pretty easily in RP terms so basically, he'll (sometimes) randomly heal himself when fighting.

His Crest also allows him to use the Heroes Relic, Failnaught, and the Sacred Weapon, the Sword of Begalta to their full potential. He won't have these in-game because of his canon point but I'll briefly explain them below because... RP and you never know:
Failnaught
A very powerful bow. Technically, anyone can use it but without a Crest, it would put immense mental and physical strain on the user. Claude's Crest allows him to use it without consequence and further enables him to use its special ability, Fallen Star, which is effective against dragons.
Sword of Begalta
A sacred sword. Anyone can use it without consequences and it heals the user after every turn. With Claude's Crest, the effect is increased.

Combat
Claude is a skilled fighter and is proficient in different weapons especially bows and swords. He's a natural archer and it's the weapon he tends to default to because he likes to avoid combat if possible but he can handle himself just fine with a sword. In true JRPG archer fashion, he doesn't hit the hardest and he has no business taking hits on the front line but he's dodgy (fast) and skilled (doesn't miss his target often). He also has a knack for axes because he needs it to prepare for his final class in-game. I don't really do much with this in RP but it's worth noting just in case.

Riding
He's a talented rider not just when it comes to horses but also on a wyvern (flying dragon). Claude mentions that where he's from learning how to ride a wyvern is a rite of a passage and he studies to take the exam to become a wyvern rider. This sets him up for his special and final classes in-game which is a Wyvern Master/Barbarossa— an archer that rides a wyvern into battle. He can also fight on horseback with a bow or swords.

Leadership
Not a power but definitely worth mentioning! As the future Duke of House Riegan, Claude will lead the Leicester Alliance someday. As of now, he hasn't inherited the title but he's had to stand in for his ailing grandfather on occasion. Despite acting flippant about his duties, Claude is a natural and prepared leader and it's one of his strengths in canon! It also gives him a knack for embarrassing protag speeches to rally his allies.

⬢ Inventory:
- His school uniform
- T-shirts 2 & 3!
- His other outfit will be a loose, white blouse, high-waisted black pants, boots, and plain, brown traveler's cloak.
- Leather bow sheath,* a leather bow sheath engraved with an unfamiliar script.

Weapons
- Silver bow+, a fortified silver bow. Comes with 30 silver arrows and a quiver.
- Silver sword+, a fortified silver sword
- Mild stomach poison, a small bottle labeled "Mild Stomach Poison" that seems fairly harmless.**

*Will also probably end up in the case with his bow and arrows h a h!
** I'm just assuming poison = weapon and also ends up in the weapons case... it's cool he doesn't need it. He'd probably poison himself anyway.

... I honestly didn't expect him to get to keep the poison.

Anyway, I'll be using this journal! Thank you!
