. Adaptable Yoichi is very tractable, willing and able to change himself and his outlook on things to achieve his goals. Unlike most of the other soccer players in the Blue Lock facility, Yoichi has little attachment to his play-style, as he's had no distinct challenge to previous overcome in his past, nor does he want to win for any reason other than glory. He is malleable and takes all advice into consideration, working it into his new concept of himself and pushing further ahead. Every time he loses or screws up, he figures out why and then create a new pathway around that weakness or eliminates it completely by rearranging his previous perceptions. He's constantly rebuilding himself as a new person, consciously destroying his old ways of thinking to mold himself into the person he wants to be.
. Ambitious No matter what, Yoichi's only end goal is to win and come out on top. Though always dedicated and focused, he's had to develop and nurture an individualistic mindset, away from the more collectivist culture he was raised with, for the sole purpose of placing himself in a position to better obtain glory and acclaim. He embraces anything that gets him ahead, on an obsessive quest to claw his way up from second-to-last, and that drive is what fuels his competitiveness. He's opportunistic, always searching for a new piece of information or a strategy to benefit his own advancement. Every failure is to be learned from and used as a stepping stone to keep moving on.
. Analytical It's impossible for Yoichi to stop thinking and dissecting his circumstances and environment. He's constantly aware of his surroundings and how he fits into them, using this instinctual spatial perception to make quick decisions based on anticipatory outcomes. He studies his opponents, deriving information from every move and shift in play to formulate the likeliest pattern that will take shape. He's honed this further into encompassing several outcomes at once, and narrowing down the probability of each, so that in his mind, he's almost seeing a premonition of how things will progress. Yoichi is plotting and evaluating unceasingly, and describes his methods as looking into the future. He picks up on small details and inconsistencies and adjusts his projected outcome within moments. In the event some does slip by him, he recognizes his error right away and incorporates that into his calculations.
. Mendacious Yoichi is polite and cordial, always supportive of people, and sort of a peacemaker; at least on the surface. He portrays an almost innocent naivety about teamwork and friendship in the midst of competition, but he's disingenuous. Sometimes he doesn't realize the extent of his insincerity himself, but the other players do, commenting on his tendency to act like they're all friends even though he just won a coveted position by using them. In moments where Yoichi has to make decisions, he's all for himself and will step on anyone to get ahead, and then act like he feels bad about it when, inside, he's reveling in his dominion over someone else. He's nice to others and strikes up conversations willingly, though it's with the sole purpose of getting something out of it, like observations from another point of view that he can use to empower himself or as information to expose others' weaknesses. He downplays his own successes when off the field and feigns a humble and more submissive demeanour.
. Sadistic Yoichi takes pleasure in the defeat of his rivals, getting a high off his actions affecting someone negatively. It's a rush he initially felt to a lesser degree when he eliminated the first player in the first round of training, Kira, whom Yoichi only an hour before had great affection and respect for. At his defeat, Yoichi found he couldn't help but be happy about it. The more he becomes personally responsible for someone else's loss, the stronger he feels what he refers to as exaltation. When he scores the winning goal in a team elimination, he's instantly experiencing a euphoria of sorts, delighted that he crushed them and crushed their dreams. Looking down at a defeated rival's crying face, Yoichi asks himself if that intoxicating feeling is what winning is. He only has a brief reflection of how wrong those feelings are, before embracing them and taking a predatory stance that it's only natural to want domination over people and to see them weep in shame and despondency. He's power-hungry and hedonistic in his quest to outrank and subjugate everyone else enrolled in the program, and to lord above them as the ultimate victor.
. Selfish Yoichi harbours a desire for attention, and seeks praise and acknowledgment from those he admires. When he gets it, he only wants more. He used to feel that his desire for power, success, and prestige wasn't something to display outwardly, seen as the antithesis of the team-centered focus in Japanese sports; and it was something he never voiced aloud. At the entry speech for the Blue Lock training problem, Yoichi was finally told, for the first time, that it was okay, even advantageous, to be self-centered and to want things for yourself; that those parts of himself were a boon and not a negative personality attribution. Yoichi completely subscribes to the indoctrination of Blue Lock's ego cultivation, the first to abandon his previous ways of doing things and embracing what he can become. Every new speech and suggestion that plays to personal reward and enrichment makes Yoichi more determined to excel for his own gain, and to disregard others in the process. Nothing matters but himself and his rise to glory. When it comes down to it, Yoichi will take what he wants in any way that he can, and screw everyone else.
