⬢ Canon: If your canon has multiple names (ex.: MDZS/The Untamed), please take a moment to check and see if your canon is on the taken list already, and use the name there.
⬢ Canon Point:

⬢ History: We would prefer this to come in the form of a link or a series of links, but will accept written histories if there is nothing available.

For series with multiple routes and/or choices that can be made that effect the outcome of the game, please outline what choices were made as well.

⬢ Personality: Describe your character as best as you can. If we feel there is anything pivotal to the character that was left out, we will ask for revisions, so please try and be as thorough as possible. Be sure that the personality described is adequately reflected in your samples!

⬢ Powers: Because there is no power nerfing in the library itself by default, please list all canon powers, and outline what forms those powers take/what they can do. Feel free to link to a wiki section here as well, if that would be easier. Please note that any powers not on the application will not be accessible without a canon update, so we have something to refer to.

We do reserve the right to limit game-breaking powers, but will also work with you to give your character a reduced form of these powers, should they come up, so they won't be lost entirely.

⬢ Inventory: Please outline everything that was on your character's person at the moment they were pulled into the game. This includes weapons, armor, and anything in their pockets and/or any bags they might have been carrying. Please also describe (or link an image of) their second outfit from home, and choose two of the following three library shirts that they will find in their complimentary duffel. [1 2 3]

⬢ Sample 1: [Link] - An AC-length or longer non-network thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year.
⬢ Sample 2: [Link] - An AC-length or longer thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year. The second sample may be a network-style thread.

To apply for your character, copy the text below and paste it into a comment, filling out all necessary information. Do not link your application. You may link your application from here or from an entry on your journal on the taken list.

Character Info
⬢ Name: Emil Västerström
⬢ Canon: Stand Still Stay Silent
⬢ Canon Point: Adventure 2, chapter 10

⬢ History: Here, it's brief but tbh they just scream and hit things in this comic. After the wiki stops, the fearless heroes get chased by ghosts for about two chapters, Emil is the only person panicking over Lalli being in a coma for like two days, and he gets food spilled all over himself later on. The gang also studies languages so they can talk to each other, finally. Emil makes his best effort to be Lalli's Best Friend Ever to mixed results, meanwhile a series of misfortunes lead to Tuuri, their teammate who is Not Immune to troll disease getting bitten and consequently infected, which then leads her to commit suicide rather than succumb to a lifetime of diseased madness.

The team splits to go meet their pickup boat; Emil stays behind with Lalli for what should only be a few extra hours, but winds up being several days when they're attacked by a troll and stranded in the middle of a frozen lake. Lalli also magics himself too hard and so his soul, like... takes refuge in Emil's head, kind of... it sounds ridiculous because it is, but basically, Lalli rides shotgun in Emil's mindspace for the duration of this juncture while Emil hauls his body around the frozen wastes. Lalli wakes up again when they're cornered by dozens of hungry trolls, they barely escape, and they catch up with the others in time to go home instead of being left for dead for real. Yay!!

The crew is then in quarantine for a whole month, which means that for a month Emil sat in a glass box and somehow had to entertain himself. Terrible. When they reach Iceland they spend the summer with sort-of-teammate Reynir and his family, during which time Emil learns Finnish, kind of, and gets menaced by sheep. The team then sets off on a mission to find Lalli's cousin, who has gone off alone on a dangerous journey. They've reached Finland and mucked around for a while before finding said cousin, Onni, and are now off solving magic mysteries and hunting scary monsters some more at this canon point.

⬢ Personality: Never has a person been a work in progress more than Emil. Here's his Tragic Backstory(tm) in a few words: he was born rich and spoiled, and he's not rich anymore. That's it. Deep down he may be empathetic to a fault and ridiculously insecure, but his spoiled upbringing is the first- and often only- side of him people are going to see. He kind of deserves it; his first response to strangers is often total dismissal, where only what he wants to talk about matters and the other person might as well be anyone else to get the same response out of him. He's the kind of person who's terse and often rude to retail workers and service people-- on multiple occasions he's shoved his foot straight in his mouth saying something condescending about people working right next to him, or made demands of passerby like the little prince he isn't anymore. He's spoiled, in a nutshell; no one ever required Emil to grow up and so he never had to learn to be nice to people until very recently. As a result he comes off very often and pretty accurately as selfish and arrogant, dismissive of other people's feelings, just kind of a rich pretty boy brat... Some of this is real! A lot of it is how he was raised, however, and he's slowly having it squeezed out of him the more he screws up basic conversation with other human beings.

Despite all of that, Emil is deeply empathetic. He himself is a boiling pot of emotions who is ready to burst into messy tears, or vomit, or otherwise panic at the drop of a hat, and all of his feelings go out. He can't bottle any of it inside; sure, he can sulk, but mostly for attention— whatever he's feeling he's going to broadcast until someone acknowledges him and lets him talk about it. Kind of like a whiny child, but that's not inaccurate, ultimately. He complains, he's loud, he sulks more and more until someone will listen to him - Emil really does not appreciate not being acknowledged. He's a spoiled only child, so of course! - but this is also where his Huge Empathy Capacity begins. Emil can't be ignored and he can't ignore others either; he knows he would hate to be brushed aside when he's upset, so if he's invested enough in a person, he can and will try for days on end just to get close to them and try and fix what's wrong when they're upset. He's naturally inclined to take care of people he's close enough to, and he's good with children and animals! Even animals that want to kill him... It's a stated fact in canon that he's so empathetic that it's especially easy for psychic monsters to bend him to their will; Emil cannot do anything in moderation.

That said, getting down to his friendship layer takes considerable effort. He's spoiled, etc, yes, and he is also very insecure. If two people are talking and he's nearby he will assume it's about him and if he dwells on it long enough he may have to leave to cry in the nearest bathroom; it runs deep. This insecurity comes from being never told no as a child to suddenly being told no (and also that he was dumb as a rock) a whole lot when he abruptly had to attend Public School in his teens. He was a late starter in a society where children enlist in military service at 13, joining instead at 17 and having everything stacked against him: spoiled, immature, unduly full of himself, even overweight— he's been legitimately bullied and "those teachers are out to get me because they corrected me" bullied, internalized all of it, and come out with a shaky self image, to say the least. He tries.

So obviously these are his three biggest weaknesses that could launch him into a Jewel-obtaining arc: selfish, insecure, really high strung... But! He is a very warm-hearted person, when you get past the rest of the gauntlet to the gooey center. He's a loyal friend who, again, is naturally inclined toward caring for others even in small gestures like being sure a friend isn't alone or giving up his coat when they need it, etc. He's also dedicated to keeping his important people safe to the point that he carried his only friend's comatose body for miles and miles over the course of several days while fighting off monsters and hypothermia, so like, you know— he's ride or die. It's only making friends he has trouble with; once you can get through to him, you're pretty much stuck with him. He'll even put up with having soup thrown in his face for no reason, he's such a... good friend.

While Emil is not particularly talented in any one skill (and not in a jack of all trades, master of none way - he's just not very good at anything special), he does try hard. Setbacks are way backs for him, but when the chips are down he knows how to get his act together and do what he has to do without complaining. He also doesn't like to put up with undeserved nastiness from others, after he was the bottom of the food chain in the military; these days he'll meet rudeness he knows he didn't earn with the plain fact that he knows he's doing his job thank you very much. So he's got some earnestness and dedication to him, and the good judgment to know when the situation calls for a little less posh boy whining and a little more serious responding. He might still throw up from anxiety after a really dangerous incident, though. It varies.

Overall, Emil is... trying, in every sense of the word. He's aggravating, he's petulant, but he's also loyal and kind with a good head on his shoulders even if he doesn't think so a lot of the time. But he's not so far gone that his myriad personality problems are immutable, quite the opposite— his desperate need to feel accepted and well-liked means that he's acutely aware of when he's doing something wrong with other people, and he tries to do better. Poorly, most often, but at least he's clumsily trying to build his own character arc.

⬢ Powers: No supernatural abilities to speak of, but he is pretty good at blowing things (ie monsters) up with, like, dynamite. Canon has demonstrated that he's somewhat extra susceptible to other people's psychic powers, having absolutely zero mental defenses; his brain is an open door.

⬢ Inventory: Besides his first outfit he is carrying: A neon green umbrella, a pack of UNO cards that is at least 90 years old, a dart board set that is similarly at least 90 years old. Weapons: A knife, a couple tiny explosives.

Second outfit: ba-bam
Shirts: 1 2
