⬢ Canon: If your canon has multiple names (ex.: MDZS/The Untamed), please take a moment to check and see if your canon is on the taken list already, and use the name there.
⬢ Canon Point:
⬢ History: We would prefer this to come in the form of a link or a series of links, but will accept written histories if there is nothing available.
For series with multiple routes and/or choices that can be made that effect the outcome of the game, please outline what choices were made as well.
⬢ Personality: Describe your character as best as you can. If we feel there is anything pivotal to the character that was left out, we will ask for revisions, so please try and be as thorough as possible. Be sure that the personality described is adequately reflected in your samples!
⬢ Powers: Because there is no power nerfing in the library itself by default, please list all canon powers, and outline what forms those powers take/what they can do. Feel free to link to a wiki section here as well, if that would be easier. Please note that any powers not on the application will not be accessible without a canon update, so we have something to refer to.
We do reserve the right to limit game-breaking powers, but will also work with you to give your character a reduced form of these powers, should they come up, so they won't be lost entirely.
⬢ Inventory: Please outline everything that was on your character's person at the moment they were pulled into the game. This includes weapons, armor, and anything in their pockets and/or any bags they might have been carrying. Please also describe (or link an image of) their second outfit from home, and choose two of the following three library shirts that they will find in their complimentary duffel. [1 2 3]
⬢ Sample 1: [Link] - An AC-length or longer non-network thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year.
⬢ Sample 2: [Link] - An AC-length or longer thread that showcases your character's personality. Samples may be from memes, psls, the TDM, or other games, so long as they are both accessible to the mods to read, and from within the past year. The second sample may be a network-style thread.

⬢ Personality:
Determined to become an honor student, Deuce initially is recognized for his staunchly serious attitude. He approaches his school life with this goal in mind and no small measure of determination goes behind it. At times he comes across as stiff, or even humorless, putting far too much weight behind matters which may seem mundane or trivial to others. This can easily set him up as being an obstinate individual in his own way, though mages are known as creatures of surpassing stubbornness and uncooperative nature.
The reasoning behind this determination, however, is that Deuce is an incredibly earnest and sincere individual. Driven to make his mother proud after the grief he put her through as a delinquent in middle-school, Deuce will do anything in his capacity to make her proud. At the same time, he dreads the thought of disappointing or hurting her with his behavior ever again. This has, in fact, been used to twist his arm before. These motivations are what compel Deuce to do his utmost to turn his life around and excel even if by sheer force of will alone.
In this, Deuce demonstrates his true colors. Unlike many of the students around him, Deuce has already lived the experience that has made him want to shape up and become a better person. His capacity for guilt and empathy stand out in a school full of people whose self-interests and personal concerns can and will be at the forefront. Particularly when someone is in emotional pain or distress, Deuce is often moved by concern and quick to apologize or soften his stance toward those individuals... Though the same can't be said of physical altercations.
Despite his determination to move away from the delinquent life, old habits die hard. At the end of the day, Deuce has a hair-trigger temper and his first instinct is to talk with his fists when provoked, threatened, or offended. Ace's ease in setting Deuce off goes to show how incredibly easy it is it achieve. Following incidents like this though, Deuce is frequently embarrassed to have lost his temper. What makes matters worse is that, even if Deuce isn't angry and just feels cornered, he doesn't have the good sense to recognize when he ought to back down. When he thought Malleus Draconia, one of the most powerful mages in the world, had a bone to pick with him, Deuce recognized he was outmatched and was still determined to fight him like a man.
While he may struggle with his reflexive combativeness, Deuce really does want to change. He may not always know how to achieve that, but he's doing his best. That's because beneath the short temper and serious determination, he's an honest and earnest soul. When shown kindness or given help, Deuce is pleasantly surprised and shows sincere gratitude. Professor Crewel assigns him supplemental lessons to catch him up? Others see it as a penalty, but Deuce is delighted. He grows excited when his efforts yield positive results, and rather than envy those who excel beyond him, he admires their strength and ability and finds it inspiring.
Sometimes, that straightforward, direct nature can get the better of him. Honest to a fault as he can be, unable to keep up a ruse to save his own skin, Deuce readily places a little too much trust in his elders. He'll often take others at their word, or mistake a blithe or sarcastic comment as genuine advice. Between this and being behind in his education from his delinquent years, Deuce is an easy mark for deceit. But he has recognized that, and he isn't discouraged... He's just a little disillusioned to learn not all eggs can become chicks. That said, won't be duped when something goes against his personal experiences. Trey claiming oyster sauce is the secret ingredient in tarts? He's not buying that — because he buys groceries with his mom.
As is the case with most mages by their very nature, Deuce did have an prideful resistance toward cooperation and a leaning toward serving his own personal interests. Those interests have from the onset included making his mom proud of him, but during the main story, Deuce has often been motivated by his own goals and desires. He and his classmate Ace will mutually deny the benefits of cooperating with one another, and he will take up causes because there's something he wants.
Over the course of his first semester at Night Raven College, however, it's clear that something has changed for Deuce. It's not just his goals and interests that compel him, but also the first friendships that he has forged in his young life. When he thinks that the protagonist Yuu is in danger during winter break, he makes the arduous trip to go and rescue them. Just...well. When he arrives and everything is already resolved, he puts it off as something he was obliged to do, since he did say to call if they needed anything. No big deal. Mages are idiots like this.
⬢ Powers:
In Twisted Wonderland, magic functions primarily on the imagination and magical faculties of the individual. The better a mage is at conceptualizing what he wants to conjure, the more pliable their magic will be. Mages each have their own individual capacities for spellcasting, and therefore limitations are individual, but they are capable of growth and improvement within that framework. There are also drawbacks to the use of considerable magical power, in particular, a byproduct known as blot.
Blot is described as being a waste product similar to exhaust from burning fuel. The more that a mage exerts their magical faculties, the more blot they build up. To mitigate this ill effect and help direct spells, practitioners of magic utilize magical pens, which take on some of the blot for them. The progression of this blot is indicated by the stone atop the pen. It will show blemishes as blot is accrued, which will clear away with time and rest. If an individual over-exerts themselves however, they can enter a berserk state called overblot, changing form and losing self-control.
This is, according to Crowley, virtually impossible for one Deuce Spade. He (along with his classmate Ace) is described as having so little mana at his disposal that it would be nigh impossible to generate a significant amount of blot. Deuce is more of a budding talent than his seniors at Night Raven College, selected for his potential rather than his present prowess. He's capable of casting spells, but even novice magic like changing the color of objects remains a challenge for him to master.
Like other students, Deuce has access to several forms of elemental magic. He can conjure balls of fire, jets of water, and gusts of wind. Like other students, he also has access to void magic, and as is the same for the majority of other students, this means he can cast dark-element spells as well. In all cases, these spells are shown as small, concentrated bursts of each element where standard attacks are concerned. They aren't highly potent or damaging unless used at elemental advantage, for instance water cast against someone wielding fire.
Students are also capable of casting duo magic with others, seemingly contingent upon their bonds or capacity or teamwork. In Deuce's case, he is thus far capable of using duo magic with Ace. This comes as working in concert to attack an opponent, and as gameplay goes, having Ace's support allows Deuce to attack three times consecutively with water spells, rather than a maximum of twice, when the duo magic is executed. While students may also perfect unique magic, a potent spell or ability only they possess, Deuce is still a novice and has not yet learned such magic.
Deuce does, however, have a particular inclination toward conjuring large, heavy crockery to pummel foes with. Specifically, he summons the largest, heaviest thing he can think of: a sizable black cauldron. Based on the proportionately huge cauldron in the Alchemy classroom, it stands to reason that one really doesn't want Deuce dropping one of these hefty objects on them. He tends to resort to this magic before any other spells when threatened...or if Ace annoys him just that much.
Beyond this, Deuce is physically swifter and stronger than would be expected for his size and age. While some of this may be attributed to his background as an ex-delinquent who frequently got into fights, it's notable that his strength exceeds what is reasonable for his stature. When older Savanaclaw students picked a fight with Deuce, they were notably alarmed by the strength of his grip and being unable to wrench free of it until he let go. He's also capable of keeping up with Jack Howl in a brawl, despite the difference in their size and musculature.
Having taken a place on the track team, Deuce is also a swift runner. He's able to compete with Jack in this arena too, and is noted for training until he exhausts himself. Aside from raw athleticism, Deuce is a capable hand-to-hand combatant and is more inclined toward resorting to fisticuffs than relying on his magic in an altercation, instinctively playing to his own strengths where many others far outstrip him in the magic department as a first-year student.
He also just so happens to be a veteran bargain-shopper and quite handy with machinery, owing to being the young man of the house living with his single mom.
