Hiatus/Drop/Canon Update
Nov. 18th, 2020 10:58 amHiatus⬡ Duration Hiatuses can be taken for up to a month by posting to this page. Any longer will need to be discussed with the mods privately. ⬡ Exemption A hiatus lasting over half of the month will only need to check in to AC. A hiatus lasting less than half of the month will need to submit half AC - 5 comments from you over any number of threads. ⬡ Declaration Hiatuses can be declared at any time, but cannot be declared retroactively. For example, if you know you are going to need a three week hiatus in the month of January, but it is currently November, you are free to declare that hiatus. However, if you have been in a slump and decide that you should have hiatused for all of November instead, then you will only be able to hiatus for the remainder of the month, and will have to make half AC if there are less than two weeks left. ⬡ Frequency You cannot hiatus two months in a row, and cannot hiatus the month after a strike without discussion with the mods. If you take a hiatus, but are able to make and submit full AC, then your hiatus will be null and you may take one the following month. ⬡ Form Drop⬡ We're sorry to see you go! We dearly hope you've enjoyed your time in our game, and consider returning sometime! ⬡ Form Canon Update⬡ How Canon Updates work There is no real rhyme or reason as to why the Library decides to send someone back to their own world - both in the case of drops or canon updates, so characters are free to make their own assumptions in that regard. OOC, characters will disappear for three days, and can reappear anywhere in the library, similar to what will happen should they die. Just like with death, canon updates can reappear anywhere, but are more likely to reappear in certain locations such as laying on top of a bookshelf with books about inter-dimensional travel, in the Sunrise Room with a movie playing with themes of magic, on one of the many balconies, or in the lost and found box. If you request a canon update while your character is inside a Story, their update will take effect as soon as they leave it, whether by death or by the story ending. ⬡ What do I need to tell you? ⬢ A brief summary of events in canon that happened between when your character went home up until their new canon point. ⬢ Any changes in their canon abilities. ⬢ Any change in age. ⬢ A new inventory writeup, since they are unlikely to be carrying the same items as they came in with the first time. ⬢ Any changes in personality. ⬡ Can I link these changes? Links will be acceptable in every case except the personality and inventory changes. ⬡ When can I play with my canon update? As soon as we read and respond to your request, and accept it, you may enact these changes.
